the only tolerable thing about summer is that everything is lush green — thankfully my apartment is under the shade of a chestnut tree.

Hey 💌 I’m Saja — a mother trying to hold onto hope through days that feel impossibly heavy.
I know you probably see a lot online, but if you could take just a moment… I’d be so grateful.
💫 A reblog of my pinned post could help our story reach someone who cares.
🌿 And if you’re in a place to give, even a small donation could bring comfort to my daughter and help us feel safe again.
@sajagz, thank you for listening.
Even gentle support creates strength.
From one heart to another — thank you 🤍
🙏

Hi there,
I’m reaching out with a quiet hope in my heart. These days are heavy, and my family is living through a reality filled with uncertainty—but I’m still here, doing my best to hold on and keep going.
If you have a moment, please check out my pinned post.
A simple share could help it reach someone who might be able to make a difference.
If you’re able to give, even the smallest kindness can bring light into the darkest places.
Your time, your voice, your compassion — it all matters more than you know.
With deep gratitude,
@nadinfamily
🙏

new years reset
Remember my to-do list and how I still have to decide on my fifth final exam subject? Well…I put that aside and decided to focus on trying to find a uni degree that sounds interesting. My original plan of signing up to for an education major and becoming a teacher just doesn’t feel right at the moment. I’d study for 6-7 years plus up to 2 years of training until I’d finally be a teacher. It has been my dream for 10 years now but somehow the long (and apparently horrible) uni journey seems incredibly discouraging. So, onto finding alternatives.
Many people have encouraged me to become a social worker but given the rather poor payment in relation to the working conditions I have to decline that offer. I’d become a nurse but my emetophobia makes it pretty much impossible. Philosophy interest me a lot but I do not meet the criteria to sign up for it (as far as I know? It’s a bit hard to understand); same goes for both Latin and ancient Greek :/ English would be logical but I don’t know what I’d do afterwards; Politics would require another undergrad course and I have no idea what else to pick. Plus I fear I might not be smart enough for it…
So, what do I do now? Mourn the fact that I’m rather bad in all scientific subjects and that nothing interests me at the moment. Once I’m done with that I’ll look at different universities and other non-uni paths to take.

19.11.24.
I've grown to love noticing my things developing a patina. In my younger years I tried very hard to keep things pristine, to maintain the natural sterility of a new item for as long as I could. Every mark made through improper handling was a mistake, something I perceived as a devaluation of the object in question. Indicative of my mindset, perhaps; that constant desire for perfection.
Somewhere along the road, however, things shifted. I find myself now admiring the little nicks and scratches my everyday companions accumulate. A once black travel mug has scuffed to reveal the aluminum beneath, a matte pen has gained a luster. Rocks stick in the lug sole of leather boots, grooves marking where I wrap the laces around my ankles. A patina is unique to the individual, irreplicable. An indication of time, use, of enjoyment and familiarity. A reflection of myself and the life I've thus far led.

🎶 Tomoki Tamura @ Djoon
Recently I've been trying to find ways to keep me engaged with the more dry, repetitive content. Like a lot of Tamura's sets have been my favorite to take notes to. Or I'll listen to a lecture at 1.5x speed while folding laundry. Or work-out/stretch to required podcasts/videos. Sometimes if a live lecture is dragging on I'll start playing stardew valley or animal crossing because the low mental effort keeps my attention on the lecture content and off my phone. Incorporating studying into my everyday activites instead of chunking out time explicitly dedicated towards studying has been the best balance I can get.

🎶 all killer, no filler mix by home alone.
I spent two years avoiding grad school because I knew it'd be a lot but it's only week two and wow it's a lot. Difficult is an understatement when it comes to balancing fulltime employment and school. The course load and instructors are engaging and straightforward, but assigning entire chapters out of the DSM and giving us 100pg dissertations to "meaningfully" read each week is crazy.

02.08.24 //

I stayed up until 1:30 to get these bloody notes done. I only have 2 days to finish my notes for my other class, and to catch up on practice questions :,) might increase my tea intake to 3 cups day and cut back on sleep (not so much that it's detrimental, of course) in order to get this shit done. ugh.
today, I
completed week 2 notes for mechanics and thermodynamics (headings 3.9, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 4.5, 4.6) - my hand hurts.
finished part 1 of the way of kings.
studied for: approx. 4h (I wasn't really keeping track)
media
📖: the way of kings - brandon sanderson
🎧: empire of the sun
🎞️: olympics basketball (australia is cooked)
