Before Kyubey could say anything, it was quickly scooped up into Hiro’s arms and being carried out of the building. Perhaps they were off to go find a place to practice!
The incubator wiggled it’s way out of Hiro’s grip easily enough once they’d stopped in an alley as it shook out it’s fur and glanced up at it’s newest soldier. {You seem confused, though I had explained most of this before the wish was granted. However, to further explain. I am a being from another sector of this universe, and I’m trying to save it from dying out. I suppose by granting your wish, the events that led to your brother’s death had been altered slightly to save him from dying in that fire. Being the holder of that wish, you did not go through these changes as well. You do not remember the last few days since the fire and these new events, but I’m sure your brother would happily fill you in! It may seem odd, however, considering to him you’ve been there this whole time and should remember these events. Oh well.}
Kyubey shakes it’s head before lifting it’s back leg to scratch behind it’s ear.
{Now- As I explained, for granting your wish, you have become a magical girl. Or magical boy, I suppose. That gem you grabbed is your soul gem, and is the source of your new powers. You’ll have to keep that with you at all times. You don’t want to lose that.} It explains with a swish of it’s tail.
MESSENGEROFMAGIC://
Tadashi smiled as he let Hiro get up and head downstairs ahead of him while he finished gathering his things to head down town.
Meanwhile, just as Hiro paused on the stairs, there was a cat-like gesture of rubbing up against Hiro’s ankle by something soft. Perhaps it was Mochi, the house cat that resided here, but a small jingle was then heard as the creature jumped down a few steps before Hiro and sat down innocently.
{Good morning, Hiro! I hope your satisfied with your wish~ While I have no mission lined up right away for you here in this city, I can guarantee there will be a witch, possibly by the end of the day, so if you’re not busy, it’d be smart to go practice your new powers… Also, you nearly forgot this on your bedside table. You’ll need this!} The alien blinked up at the teen and revealed a small gem like item sitting on the step next to him after lifting it’s tail.
↳:// Hiro was already halfway toward reaching down to pet ‘Mochi’ when it spoke, freezing the boy where he stood. His gaze darted downward to where Kyubey sat, just as it had appeared in his dream…
With deliberate calmness, Hiro reached down to pinch his arm. Ow. He winced. And reached further down to pinch Kyubey’s cheek. Yup, solid.
Abort. ABORT! Not a dream, Hiro, this is not a dream!
“W-what?!” The sound of Tadashi moving about upstairs a short distance away stalled any further outbursts from Hiro. Instead, the boy scooped up Kyubey and scurried downstairs, slowing only to snatch up the strange purple jewel as an after thought. Seemed important. “Hi, Aunt Cass. Bye, Aunt Cass!” He was out the door before she could spot her nephew (or the alien creature he was carrying), making a beeline for the nearest alley they could duck into.
Once safely out of sight, Hiro slumped against the wall to catch his breath. “Okay, okay… so not a dream. Got that. I think… what the hell are you? How did you bring my brother back? I don’t get any of this–” And he really didn’t like not knowing.

{Interesting.} The incubator tilted it’s head once again as it listened to her explanation. Kyubey couldn’t help wondering how it could use this creature’s power.
{I wasn’t aware of your existence before, but I have to ask - Would you be interested in helping my mission? I’m sure it wouldn’t interfere with your own work. You see, certain human girls can gain the power to help my mission and save this world... however, they also must face rather scary beings and possibly their own fears in the process. They are far more powerful the more fearless they are, you see. I think you could help them unleash their full potential is they felt they had a guardian like you in their lives!}
.MESSENGEROFMAGIC.
{Very few are actually aware of Entropy, but that’s simply because we’ve been doing such a good job.} Kyubey replied very matter-of-factly. It was it’s own race that had discovered entropy and began the fight against it.
Kyubey did not bow, feeling no need to return the gesture. {It’s nice to meet a creature like yourself. Interesting, I would even say. Could you tell me more of yourself, and your duties?} It asked as if truly curious and let it’s tail swish behind it thoughtfully. Kyubey could already tell, however, this being was probably one that would fight against the negative energy it had been collecting. After all, nightmares and fears played into the despair that created witches! But there was no need yet to mention that. And Iskirit hadn’t asked, of course, so why bother?
<< There isn’t much to tell that you wouldn’t already understand from personal experience, I think! >> After all, guardians tended to be similar in nature, didn’t they? Surely this one understood just by being one itself!
Although… One of Iskirit’s ears flicked upward as she thought twice. If Kyubey fought the spread of entropy rather than protected specific children, maybe it didn’t quite understand the methods of herself and her kind.
<< I don’t know what sort of powers you use to fight entropy, >> that word still tasted odd to her, << but me, I use light mostly. Sometimes the physical sort that keeps the dark at bay. >> At that, she lifted a paw to pat the horn upon her head, emitting a gentle glow as she spoke. << And sometimes the light of thoughts… like hope. Or happiness. Human hearts are very good at producing such light if you encourage them, which lets them fight the things that were stealing their light in the first place. I guess you could say I’m a teacher more than a warrior, since I show them how to stop the bad themselves. >>

Smart lady. This is partly the reason the incubator often made these offers to teenagers rather than adults, however Kyubey had to at least make that offer to Maggie as well, considering the strength it had seen within her.
{Of course!} It seemed all too eager to provide more details. {This world is full of beings known as witches who are born from the despair of this world’s youth. They grow and feed of more despair in this world, causing many to loose their lives. Aside from this, I am trying to reverse or end Entropy. The end of the universe. To do so, I must collect energy! This is where magical girls come into the mix! I don’t exactly have the power to fight or take down the witches myself, so magical girls that make contracts with me do it. Once a witch is eliminated, the grief seed they drop is collected and the energy from it goes towards fighting Entropy. However, witches are always popping up all over the world, so I’m always looking for more candidates to join the fight and make a contract.}
messengerofmagic:
@empowcred ♥’d for a contract
“I can sense a strong and determined soul within you, but there is pain…” The small creature’s voice rings in the human’s ears as it jumps up to her shoulders and reaches down to tap a paw over her heart. “A true fighter, that’s for sure, but I can make you stronger, and you could be a true hero to your whole world and others. I have a proposal for you, Maggie. I’ve watched you for a while and I have determined that you would be incredibly valuable in my mission to save the universe.”
It’s explanation is honest and true as it makes it’s pitch to the girl. “If you want, would you make a contract with me? To become a magical girl and fight for the universe’s survival? In return, I will grant you one wish and you will gain incredible power. The wish can be anything you desire, as I have the capability to grant your deepest wishes… but only one can be granted to form a contract.” Kyubey explains further with a swish of it’s tail and a tilt of it’s head. “Would you consider my offer?”
Nothing about this creature was trustworthy. Strings were attached, and Maggie was not foolish enough to fall for the little beady eyes, delicate paws, and overall catlike demeanor. Cute, adorable, really wanna cuddle this thing. But the moment it starts offering deals, the tension begins to rise. A true fighter, it says. Words like candy, but a sketchy deal to follow.
Fingers loomed over the creature, tentative to provide the same affection she would to an average…cat. “…Super tempting I’ll be honest. Superpowers, cute costume, single-handedly taking down the baddies. But…that sounds… like a loaded offer…?” There was no easier way to say it, and so she lets her voice raise with perplexity in tone.
“Can you explain what I’m expected to be dealing with?”

MESSENGEROFMAGIC://
“Whoa- Hey, good morning to you too.” Tadashi chuckled lightly, raising a brow. This certainly was not the usual greeting he would receive when waking the younger boy.
“You alright, Hiro?… Did you have a bad dream?” Tadashi gently placed his hands over his brother to try comfort him. He seemed so shaken, and it worried Tadashi a little honestly. Though, he didn’t blame him.
“… I haven’t exactly been getting a full night’s sleep lately either.” He replies with a small sigh and he threads his fingers through Hiro’s hair like their mother used to. “I mean… After the fire, things have been rough… Losing Callaghan and all…” Tadashi still felt some guilt for not being able to get there faster to maybe save him. He was right there… So close…
He shakes his head. “But it’s gonna be alright, buddy… Now, you better go let Aunt Cass know you’re up. And don’t go back to sleep on us, alright?” His smile returns as he pats his brother’s head once more, gently.
↳:// This was all too normal. Too every day. With each passing moment in this reality, Hiro felt more and more certain what he recalled had all been nothing more than a dream. At Tadashi’s mention of the fire, he scowled, struggling to remember the version his brother was speaking of… it didn’t match up, although logic dictated Hiro’s memory of the events had to be warped by his nightmare, if Tadashi was standing right here talking to him.
Only a stupid dream. They could laugh about it later.
Speaking of which–
In a hurry, Hiro scrubbed a sleeve over his face, hoping to dry the tears before his brother thought to start teasing him right away. “Yeah, yeah, got it. I’ll let her know.” He untangled himself from blankets and sibling alike with as much grace as a rattled fourteen year old could manage, heading for the stairs immediately after. Hiro hesitated at the top step to glance back at Tadashi, conflicted between an impulse to hug his brother or retain his normal aloof attitude. After a moment of debate, he chose the latter and darted downstairs–already regretting his decision.
“…Stupid. It was a dream. Stop thinking about it. Just a product of traumatizing events and all that psychology junk.” Halfway down the stairs, the teen paused, hand on the banister as he frowned. “But where the Hell did the mutant cat come into it? Don’t remember seeing anything like it on an anime or movie or whatever.”

{Well that’s simple.} Kyubey replies and bows it’s head slightly. {As I said, I am an incubator. An intergalactic being from another sector of the universe, who’s come to earth to find help in fighting entropy! In short, I’m here to save the universe from dying out. Without my work that I’ve been doing for centuries, everyone and everything in the known and unknown universe could have died out long ago, don’t you know?}
A flick of it’s tail and a tilt of it’s head. {True we are definitely far from being the same creature, but we’re both guardians of sorts. That you can’t deny.}
<< En… tro… py… >> She tested the foreign word with unmasked confusion, head tilting this way and that as she pondered it. The word did have a peculiar feel to it, so perhaps this Kyubey was not so different after all, if its duty was to protect the universe from Entropy.
<< In that case, it is an honor to meet a fellow guardian. I did not know of entropy or its threat upon existence until now, >> she dipped her snout in a bow that was both apology and quiet respect, << it is an honor. >>

MESSENGEROFMAGIC://
“This wish is pretty big… but not the first of it’s kind, believe me. If you are agreeing to making this contract, then your wish…is granted!”
Going against all the boy’s logic and reason, as the creature had said it’s final word a light began to grow over Hiro’s chest and only seemed to grow, faster and faster until it would blind him.
The process was fast and simple enough for the incubator. It had heard the wishes of heart broken teenagers who’d lost loved ones and desperately wanted them to return. This was not a difficult wish to grant at this point with so much practice. Kyubey was quick to grant the wish and seal the contract.
For Hiro, it would all would have happened in merely the blink of an eye. First the blinding light that came from his center, and then darkness…
But then..
“Hey, Hiro. Wake up knuckle head. I gotta run down town, but Aunt Cass told me to get you up. You’ve been sleeping all day.”
A painfully familiar voice calls for the teen and a pair of hands grabs his shoulders, shaking him softly. Tadashi would be there to smile and greet his brother to another bright sunny morning, as he always had…
↳:// Old habit had Hiro grumbling as he turned away from the voice trying to wake him.
Geez. Let him sleep. Just five more minutes–
“Tadashi?!” Hiro bolted upright, wide-eyed with shock as he stared at his brother. It couldn’t be… yet there Tadashi stood, giving him that same old smile as he patiently attempted to awaken his stubborn little brother. Hiro hadn’t realized how much he missed that stupid morning ritual until now.
Hiro remembered the fire, though. Remembered the police and sirens and news crews. Remembered Aunt Cass sagging to the concrete and shouting denial. Remembered the funeral and all the furtive, pitying glances everyone threw his way. Remembered hating them all for acting like they missed Tadashi as much as he did….
“But how–” his throat closed painfully, cutting off further words. Instead of speaking, Hiro leapt at his sibling, all but tackling the elder in a clinging hug as he tried–and failed–to stifle a sob.
Before he could stop himself, Hiro was sobbing, face pressed into Tadashi’s shirt. It was a dream, he told himself, pull it together. You’re going to freak Tadashi out. Just a stupid, vivid dream from overworking himself. The fire, the funeral, everything. Even that cat that promised to grant a wish.
…Then why did Hiro feel a strange sensation in his chest where that creature had touched him and… taken something?

What do you love about your muse? What do you hate about your muse?
// listen, i have always loved this adorable design. So cute and huggable and soft~ And when you break it down to the core…. Kyu’s got… good intentions I guess. Plus Kyubey is just so.. interesting! I want to put this lil alien through new things and develop it’s character more, but….
I guess the lack of emotion or empathy or anything makes developing it a bit difficult right now, but hopefully I’ll figure out a way to do more with him. It’s a little shit with little care for anything other than reaching it’s goal to reverse entropy and I just… you little monster, how d a r e
BUT LOOK AT THAT FACEHOW CAN YOU NOT MAKE A CONTRACT??????I WANNA PUNCH IT

“This wish is pretty big... but not the first of it’s kind, believe me. If you are agreeing to making this contract, then your wish...is granted!”
A painfully familiar voice calls for the teen and a pair of hands grabs his shoulders, shaking him softly. Tadashi would be there to smile and greet his brother to another bright sunny morning, as he always had...
MESSENGEROFMAGIC://
Kyubey tilted it’s head at the teen’s reaction, though it wasn’t totally surprised. Hiro wasn’t the first to laugh at such a seemingly outrageous offer. It waited until the boy finished his words before replying.
{True you are certainly not the typical candidate, but the fact alone that you can see me if proof enough to even me that you are capable of being a Magical Girl. Or, perhaps Magical Boy would be more appropriate. Typically young females around your age and a little older are who we incubators look for to gain their help in our mission, but that’s simply because they’ve been known to work the hardest and have the most success. You are a special case, however, with your clever and quick mind, I believe you could be very valuable and have just as much success, if not more so!}
It stood and walked closer to Hiro before jumping up and landing on his shoulder, balancing itself easily. {Why not make your wish and make a contract? I’ll prove to you I have far more power than you may give me credit for. The universe will have one more magical being to fight for it’s future, and you’ll get the one thing your heart yearns for the most. I believe it could be called what you humans call a ‘win win’! And like that one phrase… What have you got to lose?}
It could see this boy wanted whatever this wish was, and Kyubey was fairly certain it already knew what he wanted. {Does the wish involve your family? Your brother perhaps?}
↳:// Kyubey’s seemingly innocuous question had been salt in a fresh wound, provoking a sharp reaction from Hiro. The boy’s eyes widened and then narrowed to slits in a glower at the Incubator, a low growl heard. “Don’t talk about him!”
His fists clenched before he could stop himself, tempted to grab the creature by its scruff and toss it out the window rather than continue this inane conversation. A second later, however, Hiro’s hands slackened and his shoulders slumped, that brief ignition of rage giving way to sorrow as his head bowed.
“…You’re right. I got nothing to lose. Already lost everything, so– Fine. You think you’re all powerful? Then bring my brother back. That’s the only thing I want in this crappy world.”
As much as Hiro hated to remotely admit it, as he spoke the words, he felt the faintest spark of hope. Despite reason and logic, despite fresh memory of the fire and the funeral, despite a genius IQ, he was still at heart a child who had had his world turned on its head. His dearest wish was simply to have his brother back, and if it was childish to wish that, then so be it.

“There’s much to consider. But primarily…”
The Tsar groans, dragging a hand down his face.
