Roysters Bubbled Chips T-Bone Steak Flavour A bubbled chip isn't a widely seen variation of the potato snack and it's hard to understand why this is. The texture is light and airy and holds the flavour well. The only issue is similar to what you find with a cracker; they suck all the moisture out of your mouth which almost makes them a chore to eat towards the bottom of the bag. The T-Bone flavour only has one note to it but it is a good one so doesn't outstay its welcome. 7 out of 10 Crisp Butty Index - B

Hula Hoops Puft Salted Take a pombear, make it a bit thicker and shape it into a slightly larger take on the classic Hula Hoop and you have this Puft variant. The salty sharpness isn't unpleasant but after two or three bites the hoop vanishes leaving a filmy taste behind. A decent effort but nothing memorable. 6 out of 10 Crisp Butty Index: D

Walkers Chip Shop Chicken Curry Another Walkers flavour vote brings forth a whole raft of new flavours, including this one, apparently from Emma G. Opening the bag and seeing the curry coloured crisps is a good start, this is followed up by a pleasant curry sauce aroma. The taste is nice and mellow and not too spicy meaning that the flavour doesn't get overwhelming by the end of the bag. Recommended. 7 out of 10 Crisp Butty Index B

McCoy's Fire Pit Sizzlers Grilled Cheese Another of this special edition of McCoy's turns up but with a whimper rather than a bang. The cheese flavour is there but quickly goes away leaving the taste of the crisp behind. Alright at best 6 out of 10 Crisp Butty Index C

McCoy's Fire Pit Sizzlers Hickory Smoked BBQ Ribs Another special variety comes from McCoy's which brings the usual top drawer crunch and texture. The BBQ comes trough with a sweet aroma that ends with the right note of tangy. The flavour sticks around a mite too long though so eater beware. 7 out of 10 Crisp Butty Index: B

Walkers Deep Ridged Chilli Beef These crisps come as part of Walkers attempt to go after the McCoys market with mixed success. The texture is lighter than the competitors but still nice and crunchy. The flavour hits the right notes without being too spicy but not that memorable either. 7 out of 10 Crisp Butty Index B

Walkers Prawn Cocktail Pops Walkers launch another offensive into the healthy crisp market with Pops, which are apparently air popped crisps. The taste is the usual excellent Walkers prawn cocktail but it is slightly let town by the texture; surprisingly crunchy the flavour quickly fades to leave behind quite a bland taste. Enjoyable but needs a bit more work. 6 out of 10 Crisp Butty Index - C

McCoy's Ridge Cut Bullseye Bangers McCoy's are already highly regarded crisps so what is the only thing they need to make them better? Sausages which is what we have here. A nice round sweet flavour matches up well with the usual McCoy crunch making this an absolute treat. 8 out of 10 Crisp Butty Index - B

Walkers Sunbites Wholegrain Crispy Snacks Cheddar and Caramelised Onion What we have here is essentially a very this and crunchy Rivita shaped into little square crisps. The texture isn't the best but passable but isn't helped by the flavour; it says onion on the packet but someone should have told the crisps. Decent at best. 6 out of 10 Crispy Butty Index - C

Cofresh Chilli and Lemon Potato Grills So what is a grill? Well, it's a small almost crinkled crisp with a punchy texture that deserves to more widely known. Couple this with a pleasantly spicy texture and you've got a great find that is recommended as one to hunt down. 8 out of 10 Crisp Butty Index - D

Walkers Baked Hoops and Crosses Prawn Cocktail In the spirit of Transform-a-Snacks, here is another baked corn smacked that tries to combine the world of toys and snacks. Here we have a simple variation on the childhood favourite noughts and crosses with snacks shaped as each. Whilst no where near as impressive as the Twisted snacks, these get the job done with a familiar flavour for those who have tried the Worsit variation. Not a bad snack but doesn't have the theatricality of the Transform-a-Snack so okay at best. 7 out of 10 Crisp Butty Index - B

Phileas Fogg American Style Bubble Chips Cheese and New York Deli Relish
Veteran crispologists may remember Phileas Fogg from the late eighties as an upper market brand showcasing flavours of the world, Punjab Puri being a particular favourite of this reviewer. They now return in the large bag format, this flavour highlighting New York. The ‘chips’ themselves are a delight, roughly the size of a mini popadum with a light bubbly texture. The flavour is good and in your face, if a little overwhelming if you’re trying to go for the whole bag in one. Overall, a treat.

Smiths Twisted Flamin' Hot Since the invention of the Wotsit, corn puff evolution appeared to be at a stand still. That is until Smiths launched the Twisted; take your standard Wotsit, stretch untill about three times it's length then twist it round into a spring shape. Due to the impressive mouth filling size there aren't that many to the bag and the Flamin' Hot flavour has no surprises if you've ever tried the original Worsite variant. But what the Twisted does bring to table is corn puff construction of the highest order. 8 out of 10 Crisp Butty Index - D

McCoy's Ridge Cut Pickled One-Onion-And-Eighty
Pickled Onion is a flavour that doesn't get enough praise. They were the best Nik Nak flavour before disappearing from our shelves and here they can stand amongst the best of the McCoy range. Nice and oniony but without the bite of the Monster Munch version this is well worth trying to track down.

Special K Sea Salt and Balsamic Vinegar Cracker Crisps
Another box, another great crispy potato snack. The flavour hits with a nice vinegary tone and the texture is still there behind him. Still a decent snack and the fact that it comes in a box still doesn't get old.

Golden Wonders Ringos Cheese and Onion
Another blast from the past, these crisps are lighter than you would expect. Seriously, there's almost more air in them than texture. But the flavour is good and despite the lightness they give good crunch so not a bad effort.

Special K Sweet Chilli Cracker Crisps
On face value, a cereal company should stay far away from potato snacks. Or should they? On the evidence of these crisps then more should have a go. Light, crunchy and with a great flavour, these are moreish and come in a cereal style box. What more do you need?
