I really want Elain to save Azriel.
Then he madly kisses her in front of everyone, puts his forehead to hers and is like, “Fuck the Cauldron”.

I really don’t get Netflix marketing for S3 Part 1.
It’s so fucking random.
The timing of them was all over the place. Not during Polin week etc. Tons of drops in a row and then nothing for a while.
I am not complaining we got so many stills but why?
I don’t know why this bothers me other than the strategy alludes me.

We that was fucking disappointing.
I think some idiot in promo thought Polin Week was the week before. ☹️
We are getting the full trailer April 6th. They have really stepped up the promo.
Honestly if they had the full trailer already, I would be convinced they would drop the first episode.

I hate fake relationship tropes in romcom. Doesn’t happen in real life. Maybe for a one instance like a wedding date but never over an extended period of time. Friends to loves, second chances, timing, enemies to loves, and most others, I can see. I just needed to share.

I am PRO ELRIEL!!! But when I heard this the other day, it made me think of Elain’s perspective from the BC. Once she knows about Rhys-face, he will ask her to stay.
Say Don't Go (Taylor's Version)
By Taylor Swift
I've known it from the very start
We're a shot in the darkest dark
Oh no, oh no, I'm unarmed
The waiting is a sadness
Fading into madness
Oh no, oh no, it won't stop
I'm standin' on a tightrope alone
I hold my breath a little bit longer
Halfway out the door, but it won't close
I'm holdin' out hope for you to
Say, "Don't go"
I would stay forever if you say, "Don't go"
Why'd you have to lead me on?
Why'd you have to twist the knife?
Walk away and leave me bleedin', bleedin'?
Why'd you whisper in the dark?
Just to leave me in the night?
Now your silence has me screamin', screamin'
go"
I would stay forever if you (say) say, "(don't) don't (go) go"
(Say, say, say, say)
Now I'm pacin' on shaky ground
Strike a match, then you blow it out
Oh no, oh no, it's not fair
'Cause you kiss me and it stops time
And I'm yours, but you're not mine
Oh no, oh no, you're not there
I'm standin' on the sidewalk alone
I wait for you to drive by
I'm tryna see the cards that you won't show - FUCKING Rhys!!!!
I'm about to fold unless you
go"
I would stay forever if you (say) say, "(don't) don't (go) go"
Why'd you have to lead me on?
Why'd you have to twist the knife?
Walk away and leave me bleedin', bleedin'?
Why'd you whisper in the dark?
Just to leave me in the night?
Now your silence has me screamin', screamin'
go"
I would stay forever if you (say) say, "(don't) don't (go) go, " whoa
(Say, say, say, say)
Why'd you have to (why'd you have to)
Make me want you (make me want you)?
Why'd you have to (why'd you have to)
Give me nothin' back?
Why'd you have to (why'd you have to)
Make me love you (make me love you)?
I said, "I love you" (I said, "I love you")
You say nothin' back
Why'd you have to lead me on? (Oh)
Why'd you have to twist the knife?
Walk away and leave me bleedin', bleedin'?
Why'd you whisper in the dark
Just to leave me in the night?
Now your silence has me screamin', screamin'
go"
I would stay forever if you (say) say, "(don't) don't (go) go, " whoa
(Say, say, say, say)
But you won't, but you won't, but you won't
I would stay forever if you say, "don't go"
But you won't, but you won't, but you won't

What is the context of this quote?
"Chain me to a tree, Rhys," Azriel said softly. "Go ahead." He began checking the buckles on his weapons. "I'Il rip it out of the ground and fly with it on my damned back."
What is Az defying?
I do the audiobooks so it’s hard for me to track down.
Thanks!

This explains why Az’s shadows reaction made me suspicious. I don’t have anything personally against Gwyn and doubt she knows. If she does though, she is hella dangerous!
That fucking necklace. I am sure Az won’t even be able to explain why he gave it to Gwyn. I feel like it’s such a cliche/generic storyline though and would be disappointed in SJM if it was that simple.

ACOTAR: Gwyn is a Lightsinger Theory
Summary
Gwyn’s powers are of beckoning songs that emit joy and light; they literally make her glow. This power causes her to knowingly or unknowingly manipulate people into wanting to make her happy. There’s a lot of phrases like:
* “…didn’t know why she did it…”
* “…didn’t know why she wished to see Gwyn…”
* “…for whatever reason…”
Etc.
Not only that but Gwyn’s voice is a siren call to people who are lost, not physically lost but emotionally. Gwyn herself is a siren call. Is it ethical? Her powers seem to be as ethical as Rhys and Feyre’s Daemati powers, the difference is that Feysand know how to control these powers, and right now we don’t know if Gwyn knows about her powers. Im sure the truth will come out sooner or later, but I do not think she is evil in any way.
Ps: Gwyn might be being manipulated by Merrill, but thats a whole other post.
PPS: Azriel’s shadows not warning him of Gwyn’s presence in the bonus chapter is bad. His shadows are his alert system, his upper hand on his enemies. If his shadows are compromised, that means that he doesn’t know if there’s any immediate danger.

Let’s talk about Azriel’s shadows.
A lot has been suggested about their reactions to Elain and Gwyn.
While his shadows dance with Gwyn the fact that they go away with Elain (there than when he is ready to protect her) is significant because it could mean that with her he isn’t burdened by them, he can just be Azriel and doesn’t feel the need to hid behind them. She “sees” him.
I am Elriel so don’t come after me but you have to acknowledge the other argument. (I am a history teacher and have graded to many research papers that require this):
I do have to admit I don’t know what to make of his shadows dancing/reaction with Gwyn. I would like to say that I don’t trust them for some reason but I don’t think Gwyn is bad but I don’t know another part of me is like duh, they/he like her? His shadows don’t become dark but light and thus accepted?
Only thought I had is that she sings like the priestesses and the shadows like that? But 🤷‍♀️.
Theories?

This is definitely a possibility.
I really love that we have the potential for an IC civil war in the next book
It feels like things have been brewing for a while. A lot of big personalities, a lot of external conflicts, a lot of internal conflicts, and HOFAS just raised the stakes even further.
I think the tipping point will be everyone finding out that Rhys banned Az from being with Elain (though I do think we will need that recapped/reiterated in the actual book since that was just from the bonus) and them taking sides. Amren and Cassian will be team Rhys, Feyre, Nesta, and Mor will be team Elain and Az.
The Ember and Randall HOFAS bonus showed that there is still a lot of conflict around Rhys and Nesta, with Cassian seeming to take Rhys’ side on the whole mask thing and Feyre continuing to try to be the peacemaker between Nesta and Rhys. It will be interesting to see where the lines are drawn between them all.
Mor has been quite isolated and probably feels even more isolated now that everyone in the IC has found their person, but her. And while I don’t think Mor will be as involved in the conflict as others, I think she will be very upset with Rhys at trying to meddle with Az’s love life. She’s said he deserves love and to be happy and I cannot imagine she will be ok with Rhys trying to stop that from happening. I also think Mor is going to be a big supporter of Elriel as she has such a sweet relationship with Elain and we know how deeply she cares for Az.
I also think there will still be a lot of tension and conflict between the sisters. They all have a lot of healing to do together and I’m excited to see Elain fight for her voice and for her autonomy. I think that journey will be the catalyst for the healing between the three of them.
On top of everything else that’s happening in the world(s) around them, I think it would be really compelling to see a bit of a fracture in the IC before they all resolve things and come back stronger than ever.

I am an Elriel and curious if there are any passages, mentions, hints in ACOSF following the solstice regarding how Azriel x Elain feel towards one another. Even small things?
I know at the snowball fight Az was obviously still pissed. Things like this since I don’t think we see them interact again, right?
I listen to the books and don’t have paper copies so it’s hard for me to find.
People quote passages but I never know if they are before (which I generally assume they are) or after the BC.

The dreams that are answered
When they were children, the Illyrian brothers dreamt of wielding the legendary sword, Gwydion, to slay wyrms and rescue damsels.
Tumblr media
And the stars who listened answered those dreams. Feyre slew a wyrm and rescued Rhysand. Nesta rescued Cassian in their book and now, with the release of hofas, has slain a wyrm. These patterns tend to come in threes in Sarah’s writing, like a Welsh triad, so it wouldn’t be surprising if Elain defeated her own wyrm (or better yet, if it yielded to her, like the scaled creatures yielded to Bryce) and she rescued Azriel in their story.
The Starborn blades have been returned to the Night Court for a reason. Nesta has her own trove of blades, and Azriel clearly cannot carry them by himself…
Tumblr media
He hasn’t even unlocked the full potential of Truth-Teller’s blade after possessing it for years.
Tumblr media
Vesperus, the Asteri in the Prison, makes an interesting comment here that reminds me of the Illyrian brothers’ childhood games. She accuses the Fae of playing with weapons they don’t fully understand. Their minds couldn’t hold all the possibilities at once. But we do know someone whose mind might be able to hold multiple, if not all, possibilities at once: Elain, the seer.
It was Elain who appeared out of nowhere, out of shadow, with Truth-Teller:
Tumblr media
She may have opened a portal into nowhere, the void, with her power (which, like the Harp, might influence time and space) while linked to Truth-Teller, allowing her to appear exactly where she was needed, when she was needed to protect her loves ones.
Tumblr media
Our damsel made her moment with a legendary weapon count. And it wouldn’t surprise me if we learn that—with her heightened, Cauldron-blessed senses—she can hear the blades singing to each other, tugging at her hidden powers.
And perhaps, when they explore the powers of those legendary blades together, Elain and Azriel will open a portal and travel the space between to places she’s only seen in her dreams.
Because the stars do listen—and dreams are answered.
Special thanks to @willowmeres, @offtorivendell, and @psychologynerd for their inspiring reactions to and thoughts about these connections.

Emerie, the Illyrian Conflicts, and her Future as a Leader
My theory for future books (likely within the novella itself) is that Emerie may replace Devlon, as well as manage the Illyrian conflicts (and the misogynistic issues surrounding them) and bring them into a new era.
I won't go into much detail about why the recent theories of Azriel solving the Illyrian conflicts don't make any sense. ⬇️
Many of the issues surrounding the conflicts are feminist issues. It would make sense for this to be Emerie's purpose, especially if we continue with female led storylines. I also want to be clear that I don't see this as a Valkyrie-inclusive storyline - the other women in this group are not Illyrian and it is not part of their journey. Emerie was the first woman to win the sacred Blood Rite, even when she was disabled as a result of Illyrian tradition and misogyny, owns property when women in the village do not, and has been progressively working against backwards tradition her entire life. I also can't see Koschei just...waiting around for 800 pages while this occurs. Killing him is similar to Voldemort - you kill his soul and then him. It wouldn't make sense for the Valkyries to conquer the third mountain and then let Azriel have an OOC eat/pray/love moment with the Illyrians; it's almost as if Eris points out that there are three sister peaks, lists the sisters that have conquered two already, and tells the reader directly what's next for a reason.
Side Note: I would love for this to happen in a Mor novella, especially since there are so many strong parallels about these two women who both grew up in harsh environments (Hewn City and Illyria) and managed to become elite and powerful.
Emerie shares many similarities with Queen Teuta. ⬇️
Tumblr media
The Illyrians in history reached their peak of power under Queen Teuta.
"Illyrian Queen Teuta is one of the most extraordinary figures of Illyrian antiquity and of Albanian heritage. She was also called the pirate queen, and folklore says that she was wiser than a snake, braver than a line, and more beautiful than fairies."
Emerie - meaning: home strength; brave, powerful
Queen Teuta ruled for three years and "managed to strengthen and consolidate her power, and made powerful allies. She stimulated the economy, promoted the development of Illyrian cities, strengthened the army, and created her own navy." She was known as Queen of the Seas.
In ACOFAS, we learn that Emerie is the daughter of Proteus. Proteus, in Greek mythology, is a sea god.
According to folklore, the queen ended her life by throwing herself off the Orjen peak. This mountain peak lies close to the base of the Illyrian fleet, which is known as modern Risan. Sound familiar?
The Orjen mountain is described as inaccessible limestone cliffs, protecting the settlement below.
Ramiel, on the other hand... "None were permitted on its barren, rocky slopes - save for the Illyrians." (ACOFAS)
Unfortunately, a lot of the biographical details of this queen are skewed, likely due to misogynist reasons.
Tumblr media
In ACOFAS, we begin to explore the Illyrian conflicts, meet Emerie, and we see Rhys question who would even replace Devlon.
"I resented the male...It was his absurd ideas about females that made me want to throttle him. But if he had to be replaced, the Mother knew who would take his position."
We already see Emerie begin to embody some of the strengths that Queen Teuta had. And we see both women greatly affected by misogyny around them. However, the queen's legacy serves as a reminder of when the Illyrian fleet was at its most powerful.
Instead of a mountain leading to a tragic end, it can easily be a beginning.
Emerie has become a Carynthian, an elite warrior, and was the first woman to do so. Besides the IC, only three men have reached the peak before her.
Emerie is already actively at the forefront of change - she is fighting against misogynistic ideals and proving herself to be a fierce leader and warrior. I think that her story is just the beginning and she has so much to offer.
