I got the idea for this render after just thinking about how much of a pain it must be for Samus to move her head enough to look behind her due to wearing a helmet and most of her suits, especially the Varia suit, have massive pauldrons. I mention the Varia suit in particular due to artwork and renders in games like Prime 1 having Samus' head much lower and the bulbous shoulder armor somewhat coming above it. In Dread, the proportions are much more forgiving when you get the Varia upgrade. There really aren't many times I can think of seeing Samus being animated to look back without pivoting a good portion of her body. It makes sense, of course. It's to be expected when wearing massive Power Armor.

I also just like her tush clad in all that Chozo technology.

I'll be posting another image from the Japanese version of Metroid Fusion soon. I grew up with the NA release and didn't know these existed as a kid. It makes me want to get my hands on a Japanese copy and try to get all the different images.

Little Intro

I plan on being very active on this blog so I think it's only fit that I give some background details, especially since I wish to interact with you all.

Im 28/M and yes this blog is very old but I wish to repurpose it for my love of the Metroid series. I have not been on Tumblr in a long, long time and have a laughable understanding of how this place works. All I know is that I love the series, Samus, and wish to have a place to centralize my passion. Other social media sites have proven to not be very good for that.

I first found out about Samus when I was very young in elementary school and would go over to my buddy's house to play Super Smash Bros with our gang of friends. We all has N64's but his house was where we had our weekend tournaments. I always played as Samus because I was always a mecha fan, played a lot of Halo: Combat Evolved on my computer at home, and Sci-fi armor was my thing from a very young age. I loved her power armor, and I was highly interested in the fact Samus was a girl. I was actually baffled when I found out Samus was a girl. It didn't make sense to me, all I knew is that she was amazing. I was pretty much in love, of course I wouldn't admit it to my friends.

I would watch videos of Metroid games on YouTube until I finally got my first Metroid game, Metroid Fusion. I loved it so much. I would spend hours on my GameBoy Advance just running around, not fully understanding how Metroidvania games really worked. I even played it a lot when i finally got an Advance SP. The game cemented my love for the Metroid series and Samus Aran. Even when we would play Super Smash Bros. Brawl, I was always sure to pick Samus.

Now we are years later and awaiting the release of Metroid Prime 4 Beyond. I spend my time playing Metroid Dread and Metroid Prime Remastered (PLEASE let them remaster 2 and 3!!!). I plan on posting a variety of content here. Artwork, in-game content, short stories, pics of my memorabilia, and whatever i can think of.

I know this is a smaller community in general, but I emplore you to join me for the ride. Feel free to contact me, I am always open to discussion.

#Things that make this life livable

I started learning a new program to make pixel art! Here's Zero Suit Samus!

Canonically, Nintendo has said Samus is 6'3" without her Power Suit and in her late twenties. There is also the official model of her in her Zero Suit appearing to have a quite slender physique, comparable to Bayonetta. Many argue or like to depict her with physical features showing her Chozo and Metroid DNA. My personal take on it is an orphan who was raised to be a fighter and bounty hunter has to be more muscular than what's showed in the Zero Suit Samus model.
