introducing ares:
zeus and hera are commonly known as ares’ parents. from what i’ve gathered and i could be wrong so don’t take my complete word for it but there was no special way he was born.
he represents, as shown in the picture, the god of war. however, is the counterpart to athena. while athena represents more strategical planning and the intelligence part of war, ares represents all the negatives of battle.
he is also typically associated with victory, winning most of his battles minus a few instances, to which we’ll look into.
ares lost battles:
“he was wounded by diomedes, who was assisted by athena, and in his fall he roared like nine or ten thousand other warriors together. (Il. v. 855, &c.) when the gods began to take an active part in the war of the mortals, athena opposed ares, and threw him on the ground by hurling at him a mighty stone (xx. 69, xxi. 403, &c.); and when he lay stretched on the earth, his huge body covered the space of seven plethra.”
“the gigantic aloadae had likewise conquered and chained him and had kept him a prisoner for thirteen months until he was delivered by hermes. (v. 385, &c.) in the contest of typhon against zeus, ares was obliged, together with the other gods, to flee to egypt, where he metamorphosed himself into a fish. (Antonin. Lib. 28.) he was also conquered by heracles, with whom he fought on account of his son cycnus, and obliged to return to olympus. (Hesiod, Scut. Herc. 461.)”
he was also most famously known for being one of aphrodite’s lovers to which you can read more about on the profile i’ve made for her.

introducing aphrodite:
aphrodite has been said to have been born from a white foam of the severed genitals of uranus.
she is also most famously known for being the most beautiful goddess out of all the olympians as she represents beauty and love. so, in fact, it is no surprise that there has been handful of people trying to pursue her due to her unbelievable beauty- the only ones successful in not falling for her charms are known to be artemis, athena, and hestia, the virgin goddesses. and in that case, let's look at her most famous lovers.
hephaestus:
in order to prevent people from trying to pursue her, zeus had married her off to hephaestus, who is known to be one of the ugliest gods.
yet, in the end, that marriage didn't stop her nor anyone else for that matter. a few examples are; ares, poseidon, and hermes. whereas the mortals have been; adonis, anchises, and paris. let's take a look at ares.
ares:
after someone had seen the god & goddess together, they reported back to hephaestus with the news of the two. & in order to get them caught, hephaestus set up a secret & unbreakable bronze net. after the god declared that he was going on a vacation, the two snuck together to have their affair & in the end ended up trapped in the bronze net, so when hephaestus showed back up as a "surprise" he caught them together & got everyone to laugh at them.
the most other famous lover of aphrodite had been the mortal adonis. let's move on to him.
adonis:
this mortal is the one aphrodite truly loved until the beginning she laid eyes on him and until the very last breath he had. as it turns out, she wasn't the only one to love him as persephone had, too. so the two goddesses took their disagreement to zeus, who then decided to give four months each with the boy and another four months he had to himself in which he spent with aphrodite. he showed aphrodite how hunt beasts, but she did not agree to his behavior on animals such as a wild boar and told him to not hurt them, as they could hurt him and in the end, he did not listen to her advice and went out to hunt the boar, which, in result, ended up severely injuring him. as aphrodite saw his pain, she rushed over to his side and in a result, ended up pricking her foot onto a thorn of a white rose which caused her blood flowed the flower as she grieved for her lost lover and caused it to become the red color as it is today. the color of passionate love.
