not to be controversial bc I know this is like…not in line with shifting opinions on fanfic comment culture but if there’s a glaring typo in my work I will NOT be offended by pointing it out. if ao3 fucks up the formatting…I will also not be offended by having this pointed out…

‘looking forward to the next update’ and ‘I hope you update soon!’ are different vibes than a demand, and should be read in good faith because a reader is finding their way to tell you how much they love it. I will not be mad at this.

‘I don’t usually like this ship but this fic made me feel something’ is also incredibly high praise. I’m not going to get mad at this.

even ‘I love this fic but I’m curious about why you made [x] choice’ is just another way a reader is engaging in and putting thought into your work.

I just feel like a lot of authors take any comment that’s not perfectly articulated glowing praise in the exact manner they’re hoping to receive it in bad faith.

fic engagement has been dropping across the board over the last several years, and yes it’s frustrating but it isn’t as though I can’t see how it happens. comment anxiety can be a real thing. the last thing anyone wants to do is offend an author they love, and that means sometimes people default to silence.

idk where I’m going with this I guess aside from saying unless a comment is outright attacking me I’m never going to get mad at it, and I think a lot of authors should feel the same way. ESPECIALLY TYPOS PLZ GOD POINT OUT MY TYPOS.

I consider it all the time, I just had a change in the job in the last six months (I'm the manager of a hostel!) which is very challenging but makes me work weird hours and I haven't been able to balance it with writing. 19 Days Timeline - revised

This post tries to answer the immortal 19 Days question: Just how many days have the characters experienced so far?

The answer seems to be: we don’t know. But just because we don’t know everything doesn’t mean we don’t know anything. The story itself reveals many clues - characters mention the day itself, guys go to sleep and wake up in the same place with the same person, the clothing remains constant throughout a single day, and so on. I’ve combed through the story to collect these clues and to make a table showing what we know. This is my updated version.

First, the story does not take place over 19 days. In fact, Old Xian has shown us 34 unique days so far.

Are there days between these 34 that are not shown? Yes. For example, day 35 was a Sunday, day 36 a school day, and day 37 another weekend day (probably Saturday). The table shows when a day is definitely the next day (“ND”). Where ND is not shown, it’s possible that a few days or a week have passed. Based on events surrounding “shown” days, though, there don’t seem to be huge time gaps (say, months.)

Whenever I talk about the timeline, people get touchy and claim no one can know it, like it’s some kind of mystical enigma. But we do know what we’re shown by Old Xian, and this table explains what those things are. Enjoy!

Why i don't think the 2023 christmas chapter is a direct continuation of the 2022 one/the original reunion storyline:

-old xian didn't link the latest chapter to announce the new one like they usually do.

-it would be weird for them to go skiing the day after their reunion like nothing happened.

-guan shan is back at being his angry -but not totally angry- self at he tian while he was genuinely furious and hurt during their reunion.

-jian yi doesn't seem that surprised that guan shan's "sponsor" is back so it's most likely set a few weeks after.

-interpret is as you want but to me it looks like this panel:

is just ox's way to tell us they share physical intimacy without showing more because censorship blahblahblah.

As much as I wanted to see the aftermath and a more heart to heart talk between he tian and guan shan, I liked yesterday's update. We have a kiss, a jealous he tian, they spend time together, they have fun and whatever innuendos are fine by me as long as they hint some more aspects of their future relationship that can't be shown, the rest is up to our imagination.

Y’all are gonna HATE this but tomorrow’s update might not be a continuation of last years because in the past when old Xian announces a Xmas chapter that’s a continuation of tianshan reunion they link the previous chapters, they didn’t do that this year 😭 Old Xian could very much be doing what they did in 2020 and just giving a Christmas themed chapter not an actual continuation. I could also just be reading too much into this. I have nothing. This is all I’m looking forward to. Ive never wanted to be wrong more than I do right now 😭
