Let's Talk Golf
This is part 2 of our interview with legendary sports writer Leonard Shapiro.  Leonard's credentials are detailed in part 1 of our interview which aired on November 6, 2017.  Len continues to share his valuable insights into the world of golf including some personal experiences with the game's greats.  We talk with Len about being nominated for Pulitzer Prize in 1998.  He gives his opinions on the greatest golfers of all time and reasons why.  His experience and opinions about Tiger Woods are included in this episode.  
Len also talks about how coverage of golf has changed and what the future has in store as his journey on the "back 9 of Life" continues.

Let's Talk Golf
This episode is part 1 of a 2 part series. We chat with Hall of Fame sportswriter, reporter and editor Leonard Shapiro. Len covered pro football for the Washington Post for over 40 years and was the beat reporter for the Washington Redskins for 30 years. 
In 1991, he started covering golf and has covered over 100 majors championships including each of Tiger Wood's 14 major titles, as well as Ryder Cups, President's Cups and Solheim Cups. He also served as president of the Golf Writers Association of America from 2003-2004.
In 2002, Len was inducted into NFL's Pro Football Hall of Fame into the writer's wing. He was a member of the Hall's selection committee for 10 years.  In 1998, he was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize by the paper for his obituary of legendary Washington Post sports columnist Shirley Povich and has won numerous local and national writing awards.
We talk with Len about his amazing career including his insights into the world of golf, it's superstars and some of his stories while covering this great game of golf.

This weeks episode we talk with the Middle Atlantic PGA Tournament Director Jeremy Greiner.  Jeremy has been a PGA member since 1995.  He has been to numerous USGA/PGA Rules of Golf Workshops and scored a perfect score of 100 in the rules test in 2016.  He has been an instructor for the VSGA/MAPGA Rules of Golf seminars since 2007.
We get to take a look at the nuts and bolts of supervising a tournament program at the highest level as Jeremy shares his insights and job description with our listeners.

This episode we visit with PGA Professional Steve Greiner the Co Founder of Links to Freedom and the Fort Belvoir Wounded Warrior Golf Program.  Steve shares his insights into the world of the  wounded war vet and how golf can play a positive role in the rehabilitative process.  
We learn about the volunteer work done by the PGA as well as the team of doctors and various volunteers throughout the network. Steve's extraordinary involvement with the wounded warrior programs resulted in him winning the 2016 PGA National Patriot Award.

John Karas is the Golf Course Superintendent at Bull Run GC in Haymarket, Virginia.  This is his 18th year as a Turf Professional. He is a Class A member of the GCSAA.
In this episode we take a look into the life of a golf course superintendent and learn all about their daily routines including the problem solving techniques needed to maintain a golf course. We learn about diseases, frost conditions and the importance of the aerification process as well as the average cost to maintain a golf course.

This episode is a rebroadcast from the podcast show called "Northern Virginia Advice Givers".  Show host Ryan Sloper interviews PGA Professional Mark Guttenberg about his 43 year career as a Professional golfer.
Mark shares his journey through the years including his quest to play on the PGA Tour as well as his early influences that led him to becoming one of the top golf instructors in the state of Virginia.  He talks about his introduction to the game through his father, his role in training his wife to became an LPGA instructor and some of the outstanding students who have progressed to the PGA Tour and national recognition on the junior golf circuit.
Mark will offer suggestions on how to start your children in the game of golf and the successful role models that parents can play to insure their child learns to fall in love with the game.  He also offers insights into how the average golfer can improve with just a few simple fundamentals.

This weeks guest is Golf Professional Pat McQuire. Pat has done something very few professionals have ever done by franchising a teaching operation and training over 20 Academy instructors at 6 different facilities in Virginia and Pennsylvania while founding the Raspberry Golf Academy.
Pat's entrance to golf began under the tutelage of Mid-Atlantic PGA education chairman Rick Miller.  After a two year apprenticeship under Rick, Pat began his education, development and career in teaching. Pat was able to work with and under top 100 instructors and for the second largest golf school in the country called "The Resort Golf Schools".
Pat has coached 6 world ranked golfers including European Tour Champion Paul Peterson as well as nationally ranked juniors and amateurs as well
In this episode we get to dive into one of the most innovative minds in golf instruction and follow his journey that led him to founding the Raspberry Golf Academy.

Let's Talk Golf w/PGA Professional Mark Guttenberg
      This week's guest brings a thirst for the game and a passion that is extremely contagious. His name is Brit Hume. Brit was a journalist before drifting into TV news in 1973 at ABC News.  He has lived in and around Washington nearly all his life, as he was born there. At ABC, he covered Congress and eventually the White House for 8 years. In 1997 he went to work for Fox News Channel where he has been ever since. He was Fox's Washington Managing Editor and anchor of it's 6 pm newscast "Special Report" for 10 years.
He stepped down from full-time work at Fox at the end of 2008 and is now part-time as the network's senior political analyst.  Brit does commentary on the political news of the day, working 100 days a year.
But beware because this conversation is not about politics.  IT'S ABOUT GOLF!

Let's Talk Golf
This weeks guest is PGA member Roger Hatcher. Roger is a Master Clubfitter and golf instructor at the 1757 Golf Club in Sterling, Va. He has been rnked by Golf Digest Magazine as one of the Top 100 Clubfitters in the United States.  Roger is also an accomplished player having won the 2005 Maryland Senior Open and the 2008 MAPGA Senior Tournament of Champions.
We'll talk with Roger about coming into the PGA after a successful career as a homebuilder and how he progressed along the way to becoming a top clubfitter. We'll learn what goes into being fit for a set of clubs and a whole lot more.
