- Her birthday is August 5th (tomorrow lol)

her outfit is inspired off the countrypapers design for antegria! (which is where veronica is from)

i kind of drew something similar to this before so consider this a remake lol

anyways the axe is sort of symbolic, for one, because antegria is a landlocked country the main industry would probably be forestry of some sorts. besides that, the axe resembles a symbol of fascism (search up “fasces”), and in my headcanons antegria is akin to a fascist dictatorship.

The first time I played this game I got jumpscared by this mf. This 5’2 shorty who happens to be the same height as me 😭😭😭

I thought about the scenario where, you know, Vonel jumpscares the player by being already inside the booth.

Inspector: *just stepped inside the booth* I really hope nothing happens today *opens the shutter*

Vonel: *already standing there, existing*

Inspector: *higth pitched scream* WHO THE FUCKING FUCK -WHEN?! -wait WOH THE FUCK DID YOU GET INSIDE?!

Vonel: *speaking calmly* Dimitri gave me a copy of your keys.

Inspector: WHY?!

Vonel: what you mean “WHY”?! You want me to freeze to death outside? Do you have any idea how cold it is outside?! My glasses are still fogged and I can’t see shit!

Inspector: couldn’t you just…come later? Like a normal person?!

Vonel: I did come later, you are late, I’ve been inside here for fifteen minutes.

arstotzka - a communist dictatorship, with forced job reallocations (labour lottery), huge wealth gaps (the inspector's family comes from a "shit hole" village, while the bigger cities would be better in terms of liveability) and corruption (dimitrti 💀). it claims to follow the principles of communism (where everyone is equal, no wealth etc) while they really don't. there would also be problems with nationalism and racism, because of artstotzka's strict borders, the people would have seen less foreigners and would be less tolerant of them. however arstotzka has a good economy, one of the leading economies in the region.

antegria - a fundamentalist/nationalist dictatorship with limited freedoms and persecution of people who don't meet their fantasy of an ideal citizen. religion would be forced on their citizens, and anyone who disagrees would have their life made difficult by the state.

kolechia - pretty much a failed state. run by extremists and extremely nationalist ideology would be forced on citizens, and attacks (such as the ones in the game) would be seen as some sort of status symbol. like arstotzka there would also be large wealth gap, where some are very rich and others very poor, partially caused by corruption and a mismanaged economy.

impor - they probably have the strongest economy in the region, but like east asian countries (such as japan, china and korea) there would be a very toxic work-life balance culture, which is an issue in countries with strong economies (eg. china, japan, mentioning them again). basically people there would have no personal or social life because they are taught work matters more than anything.

obristan - as seen in one of the game's endings obristan has very lenient border regulations. so it would be a safe haven for criminals to hide and carry out operations. it would be a safe country to visit so long as you don't mess with the wrong people.

republia - like antegria, it is a dictatorship. it is a breakaway state from antegria (check my post on the antegria republia beef) so they would have a lot of tensions with them. republia's economy would also be very weak and one of the poorest nations in the region. republia would also have a low tolerance of foreigners because of a sense of nationalism created by their declaration of independence from antegria. republia's dissemination of media and information would also be corrupted by the dictatorship (as seen in republia times game), the government only shows what it wants to show to make republia seem better off.

united federation - i do think this is the most advanced and developed nation out of the region, with a strong economy on par with impor and good quality of life (also in the game it is said they have computers to do border checks while arstotzka is stuck with anachronic methods) but they probably have poor healthcare (like the usa) because their healthcare is most private and therefore less accessible to poorer people, which is probably why the polio outbreak got so bad because people could not afford treatment or vaccination.

antegria and republia headcanons because i have a lot of headcanons on the beef between them 💔💔

disclaimer: none of these are confirmed canon these are just my theories and headcanons :) also feel free to debate or have your own theories

like many theories i’ve come across in the fan base, republia is a breakaway state from antegria.

the break off would happen because antegria has this belief of having “perfect” and “ideal” people only living in their country, and anyone who doesn’t meet that ideal is considered not worthy of being antegrian.

kind of like past germany (you know what i mean, i can’t say the name on here probably)

i mentioned this before on an oc post but i headcanon antegria as a catholic country, so i feel like non christians would be persecuted as they are not part of the ideal people, as well as people who disagree with the antegrian government

yeah the antegrian government would also be a fascist/nationalist dictatorship.

so some people who don’t meet this idea would end up forming their own state called republia and declaring independence, leading to beef between antegria and republia.

there would be an actual war between them (kind of like in the republia times) as well as threats like both sides showing off their military as a threat of future wars.

so because republia is a breakaway state i feel that their language would be intelligible to antegrians.

republia would have promised to be a democracy but would end up being a dictatorship like antegria (in the republia times republia has elements of a dictatorship such as controlling the media and information)

i worked out more of her lore:

at one point her dad would have come over to arstotzka to check up on her and see if she’s okay as he’s quite close to her (being her sole guardian after her mother’s passing) and wants her to be safe, being an overprotective dad.

in arstotzka, veronica meets another foreign worker, a factory worker from kolechia who works for the same company as her but he works in a factory while she works in an office.

her family would have been considered wealthy/upper class in antegria but in arstotzka, that level of wealth would have been considered lower/middle class. (since i personally headcanon that arstotzka is ahead of antegria in terms of development and economics)

i really didn’t have time to draw so i dug up these old drawings of veronica (new-ish oc)

i might change her design later if i have time

anyways more information:

she is a foreign worker in arstotzka, she works as an accountant for a manufacturing company

as for family she has her dad (her mother passed away from cancer when veronica was 8, the family could not access proper medical care back then)

i also have a lot of headcanons for antegria along with veronica’s character:

antegria is probably a christian country (i headcanon that they are, because of the name “saint marmero” being of christian origin). personally i headcanon antegria as a catholic country

so veronica would have probably grown up catholic and still practices.

they’re also probably a dictatorship because of the antegrian couple that come to arstotzka in the game and say they’re fleeing tyranny (or something vaguely similar)
