Using tumblr is like living in a low class apartment building. You just get used to the landlord not fixing things, and then someone new moves in and you're helpfully like "oh yeah don't drink the tap water, it's got stuff in it that makes you sick" and then your neighbor you've had forever goes "oh they took the stuff out actually" and you're like "what? when was this?"

as your resident eddie izzard quote url haver i feel like i have a responsibility to warn you about what’s happening right now

short version: terfs are being shitheads as usual and they just remembered eddie izzard exists

longer version: Eddie Izzard has shifted to mainly she/her pronouns in the last few years, and besides stand up and charity marathons has been more and more active in her long term goal of getting elected into politics

she’s running for a MP role in labour in Sheffield Central and this move is being met with opposition and transphobia 

basically terfs are parroting the restroom predator scaremongering they direct at all trans women and there’s some really nasty comments out there (esp on twitter, home of nasty comments)

Eddie Izzard’s terminology when it comes to her gender identity is based on her own experience and age and understanding and is not up for debate, but i’m sure her language and pronouns are going to be disrespected and mocked and accusations of…. pissing in the wrong toilet? I guess? making “real” women feel bad? that sort of thing is going to be brought up a lot more right now (and already has been)

just wanted to make a post on here to say that this bullshit is happening, watch out for increased transphobia not only for people in that part of the uk but people online who like eddie izzard’s work. Sucks to see it, figured a heads up with context would be appreciated by some people.

Whoever made these is either a random middle-aged government worker who’s spent enough time with Young Internet People to be at least 60% sure what a meme is or a Gen Z artistic genius and i can’t decide which
