if i had a nickel for every fandom i've gotten into with a character named luther/luthor i'd have 3 nickels which is actually kind of a lot because that is not a popular name by any metric and yet here i am

to be honest there has never been a fictional character i’ve actually wanted to date. like. i want them to date each other. i don’t want myself as a person to be involved in this scenario whatsoever. what would i add to this narratively? what’s my thematic purpose in the narrative? immersion breaking.

I do truly appreciate that when Ryan Murphy was pitching Doctor Odyssey to Joshua Jackson he had to have mentioned 'oh by the way we're going to find a way to objectify you at least once an episode including a close up shot of your dick in gray sweatpants' and Jackson obviously said 'cool, where do I sign?'
#doctor odyssey#and he was RUNNING in those sweatpants#last ep was a full on low angle of his ass in tight white pants#the show is shameless i love it

You're about to close on your very own, suspiciously affordable and comfortable house. Just before you sign the contract, the realtor shows you the required legal disclosure: your new house is haunted by the type of presence you'll get from this spinner wheel.
Of course it is.

thought about this again. kind of amazing how we’re all just chasing ways to duplicate how this scene makes us feel, either in life or in art.

it's funny whenever i post dinluke i always get comments along the lines of "why do people ship these two they only met once" and its like bestie. babygirl. ok first off it's about the Themes™/dynamics/potential, not how many times they've met in "canon" and 2. when i was a teenager the biggest ship in my favourite fandom was two guys who'd never even interacted and you think its weird people ship two guys that acually met?? in real life canon?? they literally made eye contact, that's like the fanon-shipping equivalent of third base
#i've only “watched” this show in that tumblr way#ie in gifs and whatnot#but if i did actually watch it i would 100% ship them#i guess technically i do anyway haha#star wars

a talking point i often see when defending the consumption of dark content is that it’s a coping mechanism for those with trauma which is very valid and true but i also want to make this abundantly clear: you can like dark content for no reason. you can enjoy fucked up shit in fiction because it’s enjoyable and entertaining. trauma is not required as a ticket for entry. enjoy your dark content bc it’s fun and sexy and don’t let anyone take that away from you
#as much as get the point#i do dislike how liking anything 'problematic' MUST ONLY come from trauma these days#that it's become the be all end all excuse#when that's just not true#sometimes people just like weird shit#or are fascinated by it#humans are diverse and complicated#there's no one answer to this#you don't always need to have a concrete reason to be interested in things
