PLEASE STOP REPOSTING MY EDITS!
Instagram account @sakurauzumakie (and others in the past: @antinaruuuhinaaa on IG / Haruno Uzumaki on FB, etc.), you have:
Yet again visited my blog with the intent to steal my edits and seemingly decided to ignore my numerous posts previously communicating how devastating and immensely discouraging it is to have my work reposted without permission or credit (even so much as implicitly inferring the edit is yours through captioning ‘to follow you for more’ and adding audio), moreover for such to receive significantly more reception (100+ notes on my original creations < up to 16,000+ views on your reposts which have cropped my watermark and failed to acknowledge me, as well as allow oppositional responses that I have not been able to counter so as to defend myself or my mocked work).
Thus enabled Naru/Hina fans (including those I have specifically blocked due to prior harassment) to see my edits and also repost them to be ridiculed and ripped apart in some blathering shipping feud, having provided them the scope to find my original posts and attack them directly as well. In reposting such outside of its intended space, this has opened up my work to hate and ridicule, to hurtful and derogatory comments; exposing a hobby with a simple and non-monetary purpose to please, to invasive vilification and hostile consumption.
What’s more is that it isn’t just my work that has been reposted – it’s the beautiful artwork of our fandom’s many talented artists, who already don’t receive the praise that they deserve. As I’ve stated before, having your creative content reposted (especially without credit or simply requesting permission/notifying the OP) is crappy and insanely demotivating. I personally put so much time, effort and passion into my GIFs – I have to find the right scenes to convey the emotional purpose of the gifset in the most effective way possible, download the highest quality episodes that I can find, create specific and detailed PSD colourings that accent the work, cut and blend or fade frames together from often entirely different segments of the overall franchise, etc.
We’re a smaller fandom now, so enthusiasm is lower than it was and our work already receives limited acknowledgment. We should be supporting the content creators who still pour their heart and soul into making new material for us to enjoy. If you want to share that work elsewhere, at least ask permission first and please provide proper credit, for goodness sake! I adore NaruSaku, so I wanted to continue to see our fandom thrive and help contribute to that. But I’m making edits in my own free time from my master’s degree, only for the above to happen? It’s defeating. Idk, I can’t justify this anymore, at least not for now. You pay for Photoshop and create the content yourself, reposters.

Hey, so I’m really sorry I haven’t posted the rest of my contributions for NaruSaku Week! I’ve kind of detailed why in my latest post – the TLDR is ‘screw reposts’ essentially… They’re discouraging AF. Some NS accounts on FB and IG have been reposting my work without permission or credit, which is crappy and demotivating after I put so much time, effort and passion into my GIFs. It’s obviously annoying enough as it is but now a NH fan (whose previous account was blocked and later deleted) has found my work through the reposts and started harassing my edits; reposting screenshots of them on their own blog to be ridiculed and ripped apart in some blathering shipping fued, then attacked my original posts directly in the replies. As mindnumbingly irritating as that can be, I can clapback fine at a NH fan actively looking for a fight (although, it does feel a bit more personal when it’s a creation of yours they’re mocking or when you consciously put appropriate tagging measures in place avoid that kind of thing) but to feel kind of stabbed in the back by your own fandom feels a little more defeating, especially when reposting my stuff essentially enabled that to happen, you know? Idk, I’m really sorry for rambling and not continuing to participate in the event right now. I’m hoping to get my enthusiasm back to continue working on the other edits soon but I feel a bit iffy at the minute. 🙁
I browsed the tag after this and someone has actually reposted an older edit of mine on here now too! 😩 Idk how to go about this, I don’t want to put a completely opaque watermark on any new sets but I feel like I might have to?

PLEASE STOP REPOSTING CONTENT CREATORS’ HARD WORK!
Whether it be art, edits, fanfics… Why do people (of the same fandoms who supposedly enjoy these artists/authors’ work, no less) think it’s acceptable to steal creations and post them elsewhere without permission or credit?
I’ve read a lot of ‘call-out’/awareness posts from GIF-makers which’ve garnered thousands of notes recently and I’ve seen artists struggle insufferably with this issue since the DeviantArt days, yet this virtual epidemic is still plaguing creatives.

And that’s without even considering (1) quotation or lyrical gifsets, (2) those that have fades/blends with frames from entirely different scenes or (3) the heavy PSDs with more specific, detailed colourings! Not to mention that the original tweet only applies to a singular video and not a compilation of various sequences overtime, or that some people actually pay for professional editing programs too. (Btw, the above is a GIF of GIFs so please click the original post for its actual quality. 😅)
These essential thieves ironically love such works (hence their coveted need to repost them) yet leave those responsible without any recognition, acclaim or genuine support for their craft. Their appreciation of the work actually holds little-to-no respect for it; they go against sincere admiration of the art, they go against the author’s wishes. In some cases, they even open up the work to hate and ridicule, to hurtful and derogatory comments due to publishing it outside of its intended space; exposing a talent with a simple (often non-monetary) purpose to please, to invasive attacks and hostile consumption.
It is so discouraging for creators!
Plus, if you’re in a smaller fandom (be that certain films/TV or even ships and characters) and you repost others’ work – which only receives limited acknowledgement anyway (and hardly any of which being reblogs) – then wonder why they stop producing content for it... You are the reason!

Sadly, reposting is so common. It’s a tiring and loathsome experience for the original creator, one that typically results in a convoluted attempt to remove the repost or to helplessly stand by and do nothing but see their hard work exist outside of their own space and control.
So please don’t... If you want to redistribute someone’s work, at least ask first but always give credit (including how to interact with the creator directly/their preferred publishing site; not just their name but where they post too – those additional, little details can show you actually care about/appreciate them as content makers).

The whole “credit to the original artist” crap is not credit. Stop.
Like, for real – personally, speaking as a GIF-maker – creators put up with hassle just to bring people their craft, from lack of exposure to site restrictions/errors, that’s without needing to deal with people reposting their stuff on top of it.

TLDR: PLEASE SUPPORT CONTENT CREATORS!
DO NOT REPOST ART/EDITS/FANFICS. IF YOU NOTICE A REPOST, PLEASE BRING IT TO THE CREATOR’S ATTENTION.
LIKING IS GREAT SO PLEASE CONTINUE TO DO SO. REBLOGGING IS BEYOND APPRECIATED AND BROADENS THE MAKER’S REACH.
NICE COMMENTS IN THE REPLIES/TAGS ARE AWESOME. THOSE OPPOSITIONAL TO THE CONTENT TEND TO BE THE LOUDEST SO IT’S UPLIFTING TO RECEIVE KUDOS OF ANY KIND.

the real heros are the gif makers of small fandoms who keep on making gifsets, fully knowing they probably only will get like 200 notes which turns out to be mostly likes.

nobody deserves tumblr content creators. all u guys do is delete caption, steal gifs, post w/o credit and lie. there is so much more work that goes into a lot of those amazing gifs than u can imagine, everything from getting the coloring exactly right to almost blowing up ur computer trying to use topaz, avisynth and photoshop at the same time. all that for those gifs to get 32 notes on tumblr cus no one reblogs gifsets anymore and only for some asshat on twitter to steal it and get 4k rts.

And that’s without even considering text-focused gifsets that are quotation or lyrical-based, or those that have fades/blends with other frames from entirely different scenes altogether, or the heavy PSDs with more specific and detailed colourings! The original tweet only applies to a singular video and not a compilation of various sequences overtime, especially in the case of TV shows, lengthy film franchises or celebrities’ lives composed into giftsets. Not to mention that some people actually pay for professional editing programs.
