Hey, if you don’t mind sharing, I’ve always wondered how you got that soft celling look on your characters in your comic. Any tips? I’m currently working on my own comic and I kind of want to go for a less harsh form of cell shading. Thanks!
A couple people have asked about the way I color things and I’ve been meaning to post a tutorial on it :]. I’ve never been too good at describing my process, but I hope this helps!

I wanted to make a brush that mimics the traditional painterly quality of early Impressionists. I feel like it’s good start as far as a digital brush can go, but still lacks that chaos that a real brush can give. It has a similar feel to my square brush but is a lot smoother and better for actually painting.
Feel free to try it out.

!!!EDIT!!! oopsies i forgot to include the advanced settings for the crayon tool„, , oops u-u
(im reposting this from my main!) (click for full.)
ANYWAYS SO YEAH THOSE ARE THE BRUSHES I USUALLY USE?? ill type up a little bit about each (also not shown here is the binary tool which i use for pixelling!! its pretty„, basic though i dont really have any special settings for it or anything + the blur tool which ive edited and i meaN if anyone wants it later i can like. make something omg)
Pencil - I use this for anything with outlines that dont look weighed??? I almost always use it at size 4 but sometimes ill use it at size 2!! (for any scribbly drawings i do haha)
Brush #1 - this is.…. . such an old brush omg its taken me long to get it like that buT its really nice to use for soft shading?? not so much blending stuff though ahh unless you like the hard difference between two colours which is usually what im going for? USUALLY before using this tool ill use the fancy outline one to lay flat colours in so i can get everything at 100% opacity
Brush #2 - ThIS… is sort of similar to the other brush but as you can clearly see it has a different brush shape ff!! its also like. a bit better for blending although i dont usually use it for blending?? I dont use it a whole lot but i used it in the most recent drawings ive made (specifically the bec noir drawing that i did with the scar on the wrong side!!) but its really cool to use if you need like a simple gradient background to look a bit cooler. its neat.
Fancy Outline - USED„, PROBABLY THE MOST OF ALL THESE its what i use to line, colour, cel shade, doodle, etc. with!! Its really similar to the brush that squeedgemonster uses except it is a bit different because i have the edge hardness turned to zero and i have the Hard <-> Soft set at either 32 or lower!!!! But seriously while it does make really nice lineart it is REALLY REALLY good for colouring in small spaces since you can draw fairly thin lines in and also draw thick ones too :3 its cool. i really love this brush ok!!!! its like one of my favourites ive ever used.
Crayon - I„ RECENTLY CHANGED THIS ONE A TAD but not by much??? I sometimes use it for blending or crayon-like outlines!! i dont use it a whole lot either though but i still like it. Also while i do have blend on for mine you can just set it to zero if you dont want it to blend?? it blends pretty nicely though i think!
THATS„, BASICALLY IT sorry this was a really long response omg!! ALSO the symbols below each brush setting show what kind of brush i made so i could use them?? so make sure if you want to use any of these that the brush you are creating has the same symbol uwu (the crayon and brush ones are the same type of brush! i just named them differently ff)

Someone asked for this.  My makeshift pencil brush I’ve been toying with lately.  Mess around with it though, I like to have the density higher but that’s just me.

brush presets two: painting
I literally use middle flat acrylic brushes for everything
the midline is a setting that was circulating around tumblr like half a year ago, the two derivatives are my own though.
The ‘Sweet Desu Jesus’ Pen from the last set is also used to refine details out
there’s other miscellaneous brushes that I have that I end up using as accents but they’re not settings I made myself and, like the midline acrylic, they’ve been circulating for like half a year so I’d prefer not to throw them in here. UuU
