SETTING : nevermore academy; wednesday and @ahugger ’s dorm room, shortly after sundown

the dorm door wasn’t even open all the way before the pressure was relieved from wednesday’s shoulder. she didn’t bother looking to see where the appendage was scampering over to, she already knew. enid sinclair brightened up every room she walked in, and wednesday could practically hear the giddy grin on her roommate’s face. those two were already thick as thieves, and wednesday wished they’d kept the hand a secret. maybe if she feigned naivety about the stowaway in their luggage, thing would have stayed in the shadows instead of taking up residence as their third roommate. wednesday could not schedule a time between manicures and pedicures to solve a murder mystery.

“let me give you a hand,” they droned monotonously, and there was almost a hint of sarcasm in wednesday’s tone, like they weren’t actually considering giving thing away. her parents wouldn’t be happy with her, so it was a win - win. or it would have been if thing wasn’t part of the family. wednesday had developed a bond with thing, despite trying very hard not to. they were partners in crime long before enid came into the picture. before thing betrayed wednesday by agreeing to spy on them at nevermore. “you know everything about everyone at school. tell me what you know about xavier thorpe.” xavier thorpe : AKA suspect number one.
