PLUTO ANIME DEBUTS ON OCTOBER 26, 2023; NEW TRAILER UNVEILED AT ANIME EXPO 2023

A second trailer for the long-awaited Pluto anime was unveiled at Anime Expo 2023 in Los Angeles, California on July 1, 2023.

The trailer revealed the release day for the Pluto anime: October 26, 2023.

A few character voices can be heard for the first time, including Gesicht, Atom, and Uran.

2,000 Followers!

On June 4, 2022, this Astro Boy Art blog hit 2,000 followers!

Nearly 2 months later, I can now share with you all the collaboration between 7 wonderful artists.

This is a celebration of you all! Whether you are an Astro Boy fan artist, someone following for the latest Astro Boy news updates, or a lurker enjoying both of those things, I appreciate each and every one of you for following this blog over the nearly 6 years this blog has been running.

Astro Boy fan artists: the 2021 New Year’s Astro Boy art prompt is here!

On January 1, 2021, I will be making my 4th annual New Year’s post on this blog, featuring your Astro Boy fan art celebrating the New Year!

Last year was the first time I opened up the New Year’s post to any and all fan artists interested in submitting fan art for the New Year’s post. This will continue for this year!

If you are interested in submitting fan art for my New Year’s post, I ask that you submit your finished fan art to me through the inbox, messaging, or a reblog of this post. You will be credited for your fan art with a link linking back to your Tumblr page. The deadline for accepting any fan art for the New Year’s post will be December 31, 2020.

There are rules as to what will be accepted for the post. I will ignore and not accept fan art that depicts 18+ content, politically/religiously charged artwork, and shipping art. Basically, just use common sense when making your fan art. Don’t draw anything controversial.

I will accept fan art that features other Osamu Tezuka Star System characters.

If you guys have questions about what to do for this, comment on this post and I’ll reply to it as soon as I can.

As one final note, 2021 happens to be the 70th anniversary of Atom’s debut as a character! In his first year of existence, Atom was in Osamu Tezuka’s manga Atomu Taishi ( アトム大使 ), which translates to Ambassador Atom, or Captain Atom. The manga ran from April 1951 to March 1952.

If you wish, make sure to include something in your fan art that celebrates Atom’s 70th anniversary, or celebrates Ambassador Atom/Captain Atom in some way!

I am sad to learn that a fellow moderator I worked with on Astro Boy Online Forums, AprilSeven, passed away on November 6th following a two year battle with cancer. She was 67.

Having fans around from the generation that watched the original Astro Boy anime in the 1960s is a delight, and she was no exception. She was super friendly, always willing to help people, and was a light wherever she went.

My condolences go out to her family and friends.
