"The world will end your spell no matter how good you are, and no matter how much you want it." How truly I yearn for the sands of Elsweyr... Mayhap were I to practise, I could make this snow appear like sand? Nevermind. Pleased to make your acquaintance, kind stranger. My name is Mihel. Despite the bow resting on my back, it is mostly for self-defence. My main interests lie in the school of Alteration. Have you undead or unsavory characters needed to be rid of? I would be most pleased to see through with your request. --- ((Bosmer, male, archer and Alteration mage with some knowledge in Restoration. Current residence: his little house in Falkreath. Mihel gave a defeated small sigh and then smiled politely at Marcus' introduction.
"And I am Mihel," he bowed his head briefly. "I do hope we could have met under better circumstances, Marcus. And I apologize for my outlandish behaviour," he apologized embarrassedly. "These late months have been rather uneasy on me."
Hopefully his apology would clean the air a little bit...
But that's my house (Marcus and Mihel)
Mihel’s expression fell back to the previous blankness. He didn’t shake the hand aside or snap at the man; his calmness was quite soothing. Instead, he drew the teacup on the table closer to himself and said: “Yeah, okay.”

((Say hello to my babe, Naali! She has been in Skyrim for a while now, searching for work and hunting at leisure. She speaks the common language fluently.
She isn’t a very solid character yet and I’m absolutely clueless of how to roleplay a vampire, so bear with me will you. :3
Send her some asks (and people to follow!!), if you may, while I work on refs. She won’t bite ;)
Here’s her about page!

Humus had just gotten back from a lesson when he spotted the piece of paper on the small table. He picked it up and his eyes widened slightly when recognising who it was from. He read through it quickly but when he was done his eyes returned to one line - I do not believe I will be returning to the college.
“Oh”, the Bosmer breathed when it sank in. And he did not even get the chance to a proper goodbye!
Humus wandered to the lone chair in another corner of his room and sat down, eyes still fixed on the letter. He really liked Mihel, and to know that the raven-haired mer considered him as such a good friend brought a smile to his lips. Well, they would certainly meet again if Humus got the chance to visit Falkreath so there was no need to feel upset.
The Bosmer reached for the bookshelf on his left and took out a novel he was quite fond of. He slipped the note between two pages and closed the book.
Good travels, friend. Hopefully we’ll see again soon!

Mihel's expression fell back to the previous blankness. He didn't shake the hand aside or snap at the man; his calmness was quite soothing. Instead, he drew the teacup on the table closer to himself and said: "Yeah, okay."
But that's my house (Marcus and Mihel)
Marcus stood and watched as the bosmer practically had a minor mental breakdown right in front of his eyes.  Had he known the elf’s reaction would have been like this then he would have avoided mentioning it altogether. Looking around for a place to put down one of the cups so he had free range to use at least one hand, Marcus’ eyes darted back and forth until he decided to quickly dump one cup of tea on the table.
“My child,” he said and gently placed a hand on the bosmer’s shoulder. “… Why don’t you at least stay for tea? At least until you have calmed your nerves, ok?”
He had nothing further to say about the gossips and rumours about the bosmer, true there were a lot of them and some very outlandish.

Oh.
Oh.
Mihel was left blinking after the man informed him of how he had pretty much been branded the local nutcase by the townsfolk. At first he felt anger. The things the people must have been saying! No wonder the stranger gave off a sort of distant feeling.
After the initial response wore off, he was... quite nonplussed. He felt pretty much nothing. The fact he couldn't hold on to an emotion but for a fleeting second should have worried him, but to be honest? He was weary of all this crap he had managed to scoop for himself.
He broke into a short, quiet laughter as the man approached him with the teacups. Not happy laughter, not even sad, merely cold chuckling. When you've been ground into the grovel, what else is there to do?
Mihel ran a hand through his hair and looked at the ground with a half-smile. "I think it would be for the best if I was the one to leave," he said and raised his gaze to the man. "I hope the rumours had not attracted ghosts to the crazy mer's abandoned house, hm?"
Perhaps there was a hint of bitterness in his tone. Just perhaps.
But that's my house (Marcus and Mihel)
Ah, speaking of the villagers… “Well they uhm,” now it was Marcus’ turn to show tiny details that gave hints at stress and nervousness such as tugging at his sleeve and clearing his throat. “I did ask around and they did mention the previous owner had,” there was a slight pause in which he tried to rephrase their words to something less offending- given the current situation, “relieved himself on most of his belongings and… had simply left after that.” Of course they both know what had happened, Marcus though some excessive gossiping with the locals, but he assumed it was a topic for another time.
He stood up and walked over to the fireplace to retrieve the teapot. The water was no where near boiling but it was hot enough and Marcus sorely needed the distraction. “I can leave to let you gather up your thoughts in solitude, if you prefer.” He spoke as he mixed the herbs with the water. “I only want this to be solved as smoothly as possible.”
The priest proceeded to pour the hot tea into two mismatched clay cups and walked over to the bosmer. The elf may think what he will about him for occupying his house but one thing Marcus with a clean conscience could say about himself is that he is well mannered. No matter the circumstances.

True, it was a little silly continuing on this awkward act, seeing how the stranger pointed out the issue at hand. Mihel rubbed his throat a little, a nervous act he rarely showed.
"Well, I suppose no one could have predicted a situation like this. And I certainly did not leave the house in a habitable condition, as I mentioned earlier... Peculiar the townsfolk never pointed out you moving in, seeing as I had legally purchased the house. Nevermind that," he shook his hand tentatively, "I had not made any moves to befriend anyone around, after all. In any case, I must regrettably admit I find myself at a loss at this... happening."
He looked at the man, as if searching for an answer in his light eyes. It was absolutely rare of the Bosmer for his body language to signal such confusion. Had it been any other date he would have... he didn't know what he would have done. Trying to think of how he normally acted was difficult, what with the happenings at the college and the state of mind he left with, he barely even knew himself anymore.
But that's my house (Marcus and Mihel)
So he was a priest. Mihel tilted his head to the side a little.
“Alteration,” he answered, just as nonchalantly as before. He then threw in a question himself: “Who is your deity?”
Normally Mihel would have joined in the polite chatter and circle around the bush, but this was far from normal, and the shaken balance of things threw him off his composure, making him pretty much just stare and wonder what was going on, nevermind remembering to be conciderate.

((I'm so sorry, I rambled on and on here D'8
CPU, clock speed, RAM and graphics card are vital to game performance :)  I don't know how well-versed you are in computer stuff, so I'll give a little run-down here. Feel free to slap me if you already know all this: I don't want to sound like a snobby "look at me i know all this stuff aren't you jealous here let me rub my knowledge on your face", I just really wanna help ;u;
Central Processing Unit handles every command given to the computer (a bit like the brains of the computer), clock speed determines how fast it can perform those commands (how many commands per second), programs that you run are uploaded onto the Random Access Memory for faster access (it would be very slow to access programs straight from the hard disk, where everything is stored permamently, whereas things in the RAM disappear when the power is cut off) and the graphics card draws the picture onto the screen.
I have a laptop, and it runs games quite smoothly, though it wouldn't be able to play Skyrim + mods on full quality settings. For a game like Skyrim, I think mine would play it on average quality. Here's the specs:
Samsung 550P5C CPU: Intel Core i5, clock speed 2.5GHz. As far as I can tell, mine has 4 CPUs inside, and having multiple CPUs is almost vital to gaming. Computer's RAM: 6 GB. Graphics card: Intel HD Graphics 4000. It's also good that the graphics card has its own RAM so it will be able to run smoothly. Mine has ~1.6GB of RAM.
So yeah, there's the numbers on how this laptop would get average Skyrim performance :3 They're not set in stone, as another laptop that would have different numbers would have the same amount of performance. It's all in the balance: if you only had loads of clock speed, it would overheat your computer fast and the other specs would not be able to keep up, or everything else is top-notch but there's minimal amount of RAM it would do no better than one with lower numbers but the same amount of RAM.
If you buy the laptop at a physical store, asking a salesman which one plays games well is a good thing to do :3 And specifying if you want a hard-core gaming laptop or one that runs on average to good.
PS. Don't get the laptop I have - it runs games nice, but the screen is gimmicky. If you have a dark picture, the upper part will be super black, the center will look correct, and the lower part is this hideous light blue-grey mess. Which makes playing dark games impossible, plus it screws up with colours... So the material of the screen matters too 8'D
If there's anything I can do to help further, I would be happy to! uwu
ooc: Gaming Computer?
Looking into getting a gaming laptop sometime this year, but I’ve no idea where to start. Really, I just want it to be able to run Skyrim and perhaps a few mods.
Any suggestions for what types of laptops to look at?

Mihel followed him inside. It was weird to be invited inside in his own house by someone else. Well, technically not his house, but technically it was.
The bosmer seated himself on a chair, tentatively sitting on the edge with his hands neatly folded on his lap. The furnituring looked very different from his days. It was much better, in fact, than his own garbage with the papers littered all over the floors.
His eyes found the painting on the wall and its black eyes staring right back at Mihel.
He couldn’t describe the feeling he had right then. It had been months since he had laid his gaze on it, seeing how he couldn’t drag a painting with him to Winterhold. More surprised he was to see it still hanging there, what with this stranger moving into the building. There was a chip in the corner that had not been there when he had left, but Mihel paid it no heed. He drew in a long, silent breath, not realizing he sat in the exact same pose as his father in the painting. Same black eyes, same calm posture, though his father had long hair sleeked neatly back.
‘Oh father, what have I gotten myself into.’

The man was surprisingly well-mannered. Mihel had grown accustomed to the brutish mannerism of the people in Skyrim, it always struck him with surprise when politeness raised its averting head. It, in turn, made Mihel feel less hostile towards the stranger.
“Ah, well, I suppose I had not made it apparent someone was still in posession of the building…” he referred to the way he had, in a moment of aggressive weakness, burned down everything he had owned before heading up to Winterhold. “I should not be so surprised someone would in turn take possession of it.”
It still didn’t take away the feeling of having everything taken away from him piece by piece. To venture forth with an empty heart only to return to an empty home. Or, in this case, a full home, but not his home.
“It would be rude of me to turn down your offer,” Mihel stepped towards the house. In a way he was eager to see how his former den of pity was transformed into something new.

Mihel had to glance aside for a moment. The stranger’s staring was slighty unnerving, also because Mihel was used to seeing his own fully black eyes, not almost white ones.
“Uh,” Mihel pondered how to put it into words. “I was gone for a few months, and it… seems my home has been inhabited in the meanwhile.”
He fiddled the fence with his other hand. It felt so obscure to say it out loud, something he had a difficulty wrapping his head around. Was it even possible that someone would actually happen to coincidentally do this?
