MikaYuu Shipping Week 2016
Day 7: AU
I walked through the streets of Tokyo. It was five days before Christmas, and I still hadn’t have any plans for the winter holiday.
Shinoa had invited me to a Christmas party she was hosting, but I had made up some excuse to go. She knew I was lying, everyone did, but no one tried to force me to go. I knew my parents, the ones who adopted me, Guren and Shinya, would be happy to have me at home during the day, but they’d also worry about me not going to hang out with my friends.
Ever since I was adopted seven years ago, when I was twelve, I haven’t enjoyed Christmas. At the orphanage where I had grown up for four years, we would celebrate, and it was a happy time. We’d receive old toys from people who didn’t want them anymore and I remember making cookies with the others. Though there was one kids I remembered more than any of them.
It’s a shame I don’t remember his name.
He was a nice kid. When I first arrived at the orphanage, I was cold and distance from everyone. I’d scream and yell at anyone who came near me, and they’d run away, terrified of me. But not this kid. This kid stuck with me no matter what.
I remember what he looked like. He had dark blue eyes that gleamed with joy, and pretty wavy blonde hair that made him look more feminine than he actually was. He gave me the name Yuu-chan, which annoyed me at first, but I had grown to love it in the end.
Then came the day I was adopted.
It was around this time of year. The blue-eyed boy and me were in the living room, looking out the window. It had snowed that night, making all the other children inside anxious to go outside and play in the white fluff.
In the living room, we had the tree all lite up and decorated. Each of us had made five ornaments and put them on the tree earlier that week, and we were all proud of our work.
All of a sudden one of the orphanage workers came in with two men behind her. They were tall and looked happy to be here for some reason. The first man had black hair and purple eyes. The man beside him had natural white hair and blue eyes, looking friendlier than the man he was with.
“Kids,” the worker called our attention, “this is Mr. Guren Ichinose and Mr. Shinya Hiiragi. They’re here to adopt one of you.”
Most the other kids gasped, excited about the fact that they might be adopted tonight. Me, on the other hand, scoffed and looked out the window again, unimpressed on the two men before me.
“Yuu, don’t you want to come over here?” the lady asked.
“Why should I?” I spat, turning to her with a glare.
“Now, Yuu-chan,” my friend said, smiling as he always did, “That’s no way to act.”
“Shut up,” I told him. “I didn’t ask for your opinion.”
I ignored everyone the rest of the night. The blue-eyed boy went off to speak with the strangers for a while, but came back to keep me company. He told me about the two men, and how they wanted to adopt before they got married next summer. I, of course, still didn’t care, but I let him ramble on.
It was late at night when they finally left. Everyone was sent to bed right away, seeing that it was almost midnight. All the other children were asking questions, wonder if the men would come back for them, but they didn’t get any answers.
The next morning I woke up. The room I shared with the blue-eyed boy was empty. I went down to the dining room where everyone was eating, taking my seat. The seat to my right where my roommate normally sat was empty. Panic swelled up inside me.
Did he get adopted?
I nibbled at my food, trying not to think about him being gone, but that’s all I could think. I was almost in tears when the dinning room door swung open and in came the blue-eyes boy. I was so happy to see he was still here I ran over and gave him a hug.
“I’m so happy for you, Yuu-chan,” he told me, smiling.
“What for?” I asked, confused as to what he meant.
“Guren and Shinya decided to adopt you.”
And, just like that, my world shattered. Just a little.
Everything moved in a blur. I remember packing my bag and leaving that same afternoon. I didn’t have time to say goodbye to my orphan family for my only friend there. When I arrived at my new home, I remembered running to the bathroom and locking myself in there and crying myself to sleep. When I woke up, I was in what I supposed was my new bed and my two new parents who had fallen asleep against the wall.
The next few weeks for them weren’t easy for them or me. I was stubborn. I wouldn’t talk to them, and when I did, all I did was yell. I didn’t eat in front of them. I wouldn’t do anything. Eventually they had somehow figured out what was bothering me, even though I didn’t know myself.
We got in the car and drove somewhere. Shinya stayed in the car with me while Guren ran inside for something. When he came back out, there was a frown on his face.
“He wasn’t there,” he told us.
Then I looked out the window to see we were parked outside the orphanage I was adopted from. They had come to pick up the blue-eyes boy, but he had apparently been adopted a week earlier.
I spent the next few days crying, but this time I ran to Guren and Shinya for comfort. They held me while I cried, and held me when I begged to see the blue-eyed boy. After some time, they introduced me to my cousin Shinoa. I wasn’t too fond of her at first, but we soon became friends.
But she could never replace the eye-eyed boy from the orphanage.
I looked up from my feet. I watched, as my breath turned to fog in the freezing air and the snowfall to the ground. I wandered around more, passing people who were doing last minute shopping or talking away on their phones.
I entered a small park, but only because that’s where all the paths were cleared. There weren’t many people out tonight, leaving a perfect place for me to think. I sat down on a bench, my hands shoved into my pockets, my head tilted back, and my eye closed. I tapped my foot to a random beat, thinking of the blue-eyed boy.
A noise awoke me from my thoughts. I opened my eyes and looked around. Across the park under a lamp was a man playing the violin. His case was open, meaning that he was playing for money. I listened from afar, watching from afar as well.
As he played his piece of music, people tossed spare change into the case. A few people gathered around to watch and soon enough there was a crowd. I decided I’d go join in as well, seeing as though I had nothing better to do.
I was in the back of the crowd, and couldn’t see over everyone else. I waited patiently listen to music as I waited. Once the song had ended, everyone clapped and started to disappear. I walked forward a little while pulling out my wallet to toss a few yen in. As I did so, the man began a different song.
I tossed the money in, sliding my wallet back into my pocket. As I did, I glanced at the man.
His eyes were closed, but he looked at peace with himself. His skin was pale, but it looked beautiful against the background. His hair was wavy blonde and covered his eyes a little.
I looked away, but right after I did, a name came back to me. I jerked my head back to him, my eyes widening.
“Mika?” I whispered.
The violinist stopped playing and opened his eyes. He too looked surprised. And, without saying another word, time stopped around us.
Mika nearly dropped his instrument and I nearly slipped on ice as I walked toward him.
He set down his violin, reaching for me. I did the same.
We head each other’s head and bent our foreheads together. We didn’t speak for minutes. We didn’t do anything. Finally, I started to cry. He wrapped his arms around me in a hug. Soon enough, I felt him cry as well.
“I thought I’d never see you again,” I told him.
“Neither did I,” he confessed.
We both laughed, pulling apart. We whipped our tears, smiling at each other.
“So,” Mika started, “what are you doing out here so late?”
I shrugged. “Haven’t really like being around my family around this time of the year since I left the left the orphanage. You?”
“Just playing some music. The couple that adopted me, Krul Tepes and Ferid Bathory, are out of town till Christmas Eve. I didn’t want to be at home in an empty house, so I decided to get out for a bit.”
I nodded, understanding his situation. After a moment of silence, we both decided to head across the street to a small coffee shop and catch up. We both told stories about what had happened over the past seven years. Neither of us had stopped smiling and I don’t think we would be for a long time.
“So then,” Mika chuckled, “Crowley drank the smoothie.”
“Really? With all that rotten fruit?”
“Yeah. He threw up an hour later, and, man, it was the best thing in the world.”
We laughed at the story. I was about to tell a similar story about how Shinoa had convinced Yoichi to do the same when my phone rang. I looked down to see it was Guren. I answered, and before I could even say ‘Hello’ I was being shouted at.
“Where have you been? Empty bed! No note! You could’ve been–”
I ended the car before I could hear anything else. Guren was always like that, so I never took it personal.
“Who was that?” Mika asked, sipping his coffee.
“One of my dads. Guren.”
Mika nodded, recalling the man. A second later my phone rang this time, but it was Shinya now. He always called after Guren.
“Hey,” I answered.
He sighed. “I need to stop doing that to him.”
“Then he should stop starting calls like that.”
Another sign that turned into a chuckle. “When are you going to be home?”
“Soon,” I paused looking at Mika. He had said his parents weren’t home and that he was lonely. Guren and Shinya were used to having my groups of friends over, so I knew they wouldn’t mind if Mika came over. “Mind if my friend comes over?”
“Sure. It’s fine. We’ll see you and Yoichi when you get here.”
“Hold on, Shinya. It’s not–”
The phone call ended. I looked up at Mika who was grinning like a fool.
“I don’t get an option in this, do I?”
“No,” I smiled.
“Same old Yuu-chan.”
We both smiled, buying another cup of coffee to go and made our way to my house. It was a half an hour walk there, and the wind seemed to be picking up more. Mika and I walked close together, trying to keep warm while we drank our coffee. On the way home, we didn’t talk much due to the cold weather.
After an eternity, we reached my front door. I fumbled with the key before I unlocked the door. As soon as we stepped in, we shook the snow off ourselves.
“I’m home!” I called out.
“We’re in the kitchen,” Shinya answered back.
We took off our shoes and coat, leaving them by the door, and went to the kitchen. There, we saw Guren and Shinya sitting on the two bar stools in front of the high counter. When they saw Mika, they looked surprised. It wasn’t often I came home with a new friend.
“Yuu,” Guren said, looking at Mika suspiciously, “why does this kid look so familiar?”
Mika was the one to answer. “I’m the kid you asked talk to about Yuu-chan the morning you adopted him.”
“Mika,” Shinya recalled, smiling as usual. “Nice to see you again. We heard you got adopted.”
Before they could talk any longer, I pulled Mika away. Luckily, my parents understood. Mika did as well and couldn’t help but laugh. I dragged him into my room where we talked till the early hours of the morning.
“Yuu-chan, can I tell you something?” Mika asked, fidgeting with the zipper to his sweater.
“Yeah.”
“I’m gay.”
I smiled. “Why are you nervous about telling me that?” He shrugged, causing me to laugh. “Mika, my parents are gay.”
He gave me a nervous smile. “Guess I was worried for nothing then.”
I nodded. “Guess so. How did you figure it out?”
“It was after I was adopted and started going to school. All the girls like me, but I didn’t like them. When Ferid asked me about it, I told him about it and he helped me figure it out.”
“Any other reason?” I asked. I had the feeling he wasn’t telling the whole truth.
He glanced up, whispering, “I also may or may not have had a crush on you when we were kids.”
I smiled, moving a little closer to him. His cheeks lit up red, but he didn’t move.
“Good,” I whispered to him. “Cause I liked you too. I just didn’t realize it at the time.”
Neither one of us said anything. We gazed into each other’s eyes for what felt like forever. Then, finally, my eyes slowly shut and my head moved forward. Our faces met in the middle, our lips making contact.
The kiss was small and simple, lasting only a few seconds. Afterwards, we smiled, collapsing onto the bed. Mika laid his head down onto my chest, looking up at me. I ran my fingers through his hair, thinking about his violin playing.
I leaned my head, closing my eyes. I felt Mika move around so he was lying right beside me. We lay closed together, holding hands, falling asleep with the thought of each other.
— Bonus —
Shinya woke up at seven the next morning. He made a quick pot of coffee and went to check on Yuu. He peeked his head in, seeing his son cuddle up against his blonde hair friend. Guren came up behind him, hugging him from behind.
“What are we looking at?” he asked, whispering in Shinya’s ear.
“Love,” he answered back, whipping out his phone. “And blackmail.”
Guren chuckled to himself, leaving his husband to embarrass their son.

Day 6: Affection
Mika shook Yuu awake. He had been sleeping for since noon and it was nearly four o’clock already.
“Come on, Yuu-chan,” Mika sang song. “It’s time to get up.”
“No,” Yuu groaned, rolling away from Mika. “I’m tired.”
“You’ve been sleeping for hours, silly. And we had a date remember.”
Yuu grinned into his pillow before sitting up and stretching. He yawned, looking over at Mika. The blonde haired vampire chuckled, looking at his messy bedhead. It was adorable, in his opinion.
“Let me get ready,” Yuu told him, pecking his cheek.
“Will do,” Mika said, going out to wait in their small living room for him.
While he waited, he looked around, sighed peacefully. Tonight was their last night here. By tomorrow, they’d be far away, fending for themselves somewhere else in Japan. Mika couldn’t wait for that. Just him and his Yuu-chan.
They had not told anyone what they were planning, nor did they plan to let anyone know till they were already gone. After their date, they were making their final trip to the apartment to grab their bags and write letters to the friends they were leaving. Mika glanced over to the closet where they had hidden their luggage.
Yuu emerged from the bedroom they shared, looking awake and refreshed. His hair was as neat as it would be, and he was wearing a simple light blue shirt with a gray sweater pulled over it. Mika took a closer look, realizing that it was his hoodie. He also noticed that he was wearing the same wrinkled jeans from yesterday, but Mika didn’t say anything; it’s was fine with him anyway.
“Ready?” Yuu asked, excited to get out of the apartment.
“Let’s go,” Mika smiled, grabbing his dark sunglasses from the table. He needed to hide his red eyes from everyone else. Yuu opened the door, letting Mika out first and locked the door behind them. They held hands, walking out of the complex, noticing it was the first time they had ever showed their affection for one another in public.
Yuu and Mika had gotten together about four months after he start living among the humans. They chose to keep it to themselves, already knowing how everyone would react. Shinoa would tease them and say pervy thing, and Yuu didn’t want Guren or anyone else teasing them either.
They exited the building and walked a few blocks to a small cafe they often went to on their days off. It was tiny, and almost never crowded. The cafe was also open till late at night, which made it a perfect place for them when they didn’t want to be stuck in their small home.
Across the street from the apartment building was car that the young couple paid no attention to. If they had, they would’ve spotted two familiar people who had started noticing the two’s suspicious behavior.
“They’re on the move,” Guren told Shinya. Instead of a response, he heard a chip bag crinkle. Guren turned to him, ripping the bag from his grasp.
“Hey,” Shinya complained, reaching for the bag with a mouth full of food.
“Come on; we’ve gotta go before we lose them.”
Shinya swallowed. “They just left and we have a lead as to where they’re going. There’s no need to rush.”
“Shut the hell up, Shinya,” Guren mumbled, getting out of the car. Shinya rolled his eyes doing the same.
Both men wore similar civilian clothes. Guren wore a run down pair of sneakers, a pair of thick jeans, a black knitted sweater, and a heavy winter coat. Beside him, Shinya wore black boots, jeans, a light gray sweater, and a coat with a furry hood. They walked down the same sidewalk as the other two boys, following a block behind. Shinya, upon closer speculation, saw something that warmed his heart.
“Look, Guren, they’re holding hands.”
Guren looked, seeing as well. He shrugged, glancing over at the fair-haired man. “So? What do you want me to do about it?”
Shinya grinned, playfully nudging Guren. “We could hold hands.”
Guren glared at Shinya, a long and cold glare. He was tempted to, but, as much as he wanted to, he didn’t. It lead to endless teasing from him, and, knowing Shinya, he’d let the rest of the squad know and he’d never live it down. Oh, and if Shinoa found out… Guren didn’t want to think of what she’d have to say.
Meanwhile, Mika and Yuu walked ahead of them by a block, whispering things to one another. Mika might say something, and Yuu would blush and try to hide his face. Then Yuu would kiss Mika’s hand or peck him on the check just so he would watch the vampire’s face flare bright red for a few short seconds.
They reached the cafe, taking a seat at the front by the window. They stared outside, happy to be in the warm little shop. As they gazed outside, a light snowfall had begun reminding them of the year before when they had seen each other again. After a few minutes of sitting there, they decided to order their food.
Yuu ordered coffee, as usual, and Mika ordered a muffin. Over the past year, they had discovered the Mika could eat little bits of food, but not too much or he’d throw it back up. The muffins at the cafe were larger than most, so he was only able to the top a majority of the time. The rest he gave to Yuu-chan.
They were quiet for the most part, but it was a good quiet. They both gazed outside, watching as they sky turned darker and the fluffy flakes landed on the ground. Mika glanced over at Yuu, noticing a sudden look in his eyes for the first time that night.
“What’s wrong, Yuu-chan?”
Yuu shook his head, trying to wave it off. “Just thinking about how much I’ll miss this place.” There was a pause. “What will miss the most?”
Mika thought for a moment. He knew it wouldn’t be the city itself, crawling with people who all smelt like food to him. It wouldn’t be the ridiculous mission he was sent on with their friends or the army at all. But, if he had to choose the one thing he could bring with him…
“The rest of the squad,” Mika confessed. Yuu looked over, surprise crossing over his face.
“Really?”
Mika smirked. “Don’t look at me like that. You knew they’d grow on me eventually. I know you’re going to miss them too.”
Yuu smiled, though it was a sad one. “I wish we could tell them in person.”
“Yeah, but then they’d try to stop us. And then we’d never be able to get away.”
Yuu looked at the ground. “I know.”
Mika reached across the table and held his hand, giving a little squeeze. Yuu squeezed back as well, happy that he had Mika there for him no matter what.
Mika picked at his muffin a little before handing it over to Yuu. It was his favorite, a chocolate chip muffin, and he might as well have swallowed it whole. Mika lightly laughed as he watched Yuu stuff his face with the food. That was until a smell wafted in their direction. A smell only Mika could sense.
Yuu noticed how Mika tensed up so suddenly and looked around. There was a woman behind the counter who had been cutting fruit. She hissed, holding her hand out. A co-worker rushed to her side with a first aid kit.
Mika let go of Yuu’s hand and reached into his pocket. He also had sure he had a flask of blood in case of emergencies like these. No matter what, he wasn’t willing to take the risk of hurting an innocent human, especially one he didn’t know.
From across the table, Yuu watched Mika uncap the small metal container and gulp down the red liquid, leaving a little for later. Every time he watched Mika down his food, he thought back to the first time he had witnessed Mika drink human blood.
It wasn’t too long after Mika came back with them. The original plan was to have all the male members of the squad, Kimizuki, Yoichi, Yuu, and now Mika, share an apartment like more military groups did, but that idea was thrown out the window as soon as they spoke with the vampire.
Mika had personally asked for his own place with impenetrable locks in case he went bloodthirsty one day. Yuu, upon hearing this, defended Mika, saying that it was too much; that there was no need to be paranoid. In the end, they had decided that the locks, as Yuu claimed, were a bit much and chose to put Mika and Yuu into their own apartment.
One day, a month or so after Mika had come into the city, Yuu was called down to a meeting to discus how Mika was doing around humans. It took hours of the day up, so Mika was left at home alone. While Yuu was out, Mika was cleaned their small home, made some curry for when his roommate arrived home, and taken a short nap on the couch. An hour or so before Yuu came home, Mika’s throat was starting to feel dry again. It had been the second time in a week, which wasn’t a good sign.
Mika went to the fridge, sliding the drawer with blood open. There was a case of blood Mika had brought with him; the blood of Krul Tepes. When he first came, Mika had two dozen little tubes of blood, which should have been enough for three month, four if he was lucky. Now he was down to ten, nine if he drank one now. Beside the case of vampire blood were pints of human blood. Mika took one of tubes he’d brought and sat on the couch with it in his hand, turning it back and forth, still debating if he really needed it now or not.
Yuu walked in, immediately noticing Mika on the couch. He saw the blood in his hands and was wonder if something had happened. He’d learned Mika’s eating schedule and remembered him drinking the blood he needed not too long ago.
“Mika,” Yuu said gently, grabbing Mika’s attention. He hadn’t heard Yuu come in. “Are you alright?”
Mika looked down, then at the red liquid. He didn’t say anything till he was sure he knew if he was right or not. Finally, he told Yuu the problem.
“Krul’s blood isn’t enough any more. I’m running out and it isn’t keeping me full.”
“Okay then; drink one of the–”
Mika placed the tube on the coffee table, turning to Yuu. In the calmest voice he could muster, he began to explain the situation.
“Yuu-chan, it’s not that simple. It’s a big step for me. I don’t want it to be some random person’s blood I’m drinking. I want my first to be special, you know?”
Yuu bit his lip. He knew it wasn’t time for jokes, but it sounded a little bit like sex. You didn’t want your first time to be with stranger, you wanted it to be with someone you cared about. Mika saw the look on Yuu’s face and immediately knew what he was thinking. He shook his head, regretting what he had just told him.
“No, I didn’t need to make up of you, Mika,” Yuu told him, rushing to sit down next to him before he could get up and move. “I kind of understand. It’s the first time so you don’t want it to be meaningless, right?” Mika hesitated before nodding. “Exactly. Now, in that case, you can drink my blood.”
Mika looked over at Yuu examining him. He could tell that he wasn’t joking, Yuu almost never did. He looked a little longer, weighing out his options. In the end, Mika looked down again. He couldn’t bear the thought for drinking Yuu’s blood. What if something happened and he ended up killing him?
“It’s okay if you don’t want to drink from my neck. We can go get my blood drawn to–”
“Let’s do it now,” Mika stopped him, looking at him. Yuu was a little shocked, making sure he was all right with the idea. “Let’s do it and get it out of the way.”
Yuu nodded, not too sure at what the process was. Mika moved a little closer, but Yuu stopped him, holding Mika’s head in his hands.
“Give let me look at your eyes for a second, kay?”
Mika agreed, waiting Yuu to give him the okay. It was several minutes before Yuu announced he was ready. Once he did so, Mika realized he had no idea what to do.
He made sure Yuu was in a comfortable position before lowering his head to his neck. Mika tilted the raven-haired boy’s head a little for the best angle. One hand was against the side of his neck and other on hi hip. Yuu gulped, putting both his hands on Mila’s waist, gripping his shirt for the pain that was about to come.
“Whenever you’re ready,” Yuu told him, his nervousness clear in his voice.
Due to Yuu’s blood pulse faster, it caused Mika’s vampire to awake. Instinct took over before Mika’s mind could comprehend.
Yuu flinch at first, expecting to be bitten right away, but instead he felt Mika’s tongue licking him. He was about to asked when the pain he was waiting for came. It was sudden, causing him to jumped and clung to the boy who was hovering above him.
What felt like years were only minutes in reality. Soon, the pain had subsided and he felt Mika licking the would of any and all blood. Once the mess had been cleaned up, Mika looked up and met Yuu’s bright emerald eyes.
Yuu watched at Mika’s ocean blue eyes slowly turned crimson red. He smiled, brushing the hair out of his eyes and cupped Mika’s face.
“You did it, Mika.”
“I know I did.”
Mika stood up from the table, slipping his drink into his jacket. Yuu threw away their trash and meet Mika by the door. On the way out, they bid farewell to the workers who would never see them again and have no idea what happened to their two normal customers.
The couple linked hands again and walked toward the park. It had been decorated for Christmas, which was still three weeks away. Lights were wrapped around lamppost and in the center of the park was a fully decorated tree. The two decided to wander down the cleared park sidewalks, taking in the beauty.
From a safe distance away, Guren and Shinya were still following. While the boys were in the cafe, they waited across the street in a dinner. They had to leave in the middle of their meal, which annoyed Shinya. He wanted to finish his waffles.
“Guren,” Shinya whined when they arrived at the park, “we’ve been watching them for long enough. They haven’t done anything strange other than hold hands, which is a completely normal thing.”
Guren heard him, but didn’t reply. Shinya kept talking, as Shinya normally does, and Guren ignored him, as Guren normally does.
“Oh my god!” Shinya exclaimed. Guren was about to hush him, but then saw what he was freaking out about.
Ahead of them, Mika and Yuu had stopped walking. Mika cupped Yuu’s face and kissed him on the lips. Yuu returned the favor, smiling, and wrapped his arms around his neck, pulling him down. When the two parted, they were smiling and giggling like fools.
“They’re dating,” Guren stated. He looked at the two boys again, shrugged and started walking away. Shinya pulled him back over to where they had been watching.
“Look at them. They’re so cute!”
“Yes, I know. Now let’s go report back to headquarters.”
“But–”
The two started to argue. Guren wanted to leave so he could go home and sleep. Shinya wanted to stay and watch the two lovebirds a little while longer. After five minutes, Guren suddenly looked panicked. Shinya almost turned, but Guren stopped him.
“They’re coming this way. If you turn now, our cover will be blown.”
“What do you suggest we do? If they walk by, they’ll know it’s up, and we can’t make a run for it. Then we’ll draw too much attention.”
Guren quickly looked around, trying to think of something that would make them look casual and hidden. The first thing that caught his eye was a couple kissing by the Christmas tree in the middle of the park.
“Kiss me,” Guren ordered in a low voice.
“W-what?”
“Come on, kiss me, you idiot.”
Shinya smirked. “You know, that’s really not the–”
He was cut off my Guren swooping down and kissing him. Shinya immediately closed his eyes, kissing back. He felt Guren’s cold hands cup his face, and the warmth of his body being pressed against him. Shinya melting into the kiss, wrapping his arms around Guren. When they pulled away, Shinya was a bit dazed, still comprehending what had happened. Guren, on the other hand, turned his head to make sure Mika and Yuu had passed without suspecting them. Luckily, they had.
“Come on,” Guren tugged Shinya along. “They passed us.”
“O-okay,” Shinya mumbled. Guren looked over, confused that the fair-haired man wasn’t as talkative. He blushed, knowing why.
They followed the boys to the center of the park. Mika and Yuu were standing in front of the tree, Yuu resting his head against Mika’s shoulder. They did the cute normal couple stuff, making Shinya wish Guren would do that to him. Then it occurred to him… they were on a secret mission. One where they were in public and had to act like normal people.
Shinya, thinking no more on the subject, reached over and pulled Guren’s hand out of his pocket. He intertwined his fingers his, and, after a moment, Guren held back as well. Shinya’s heart fluttered at the touch.
Over by the tree, Mika and Yuu were whispering to one another again, but they weren’t speaking of each other. They were discussing the two men they passed who were kiss.
“It looked like Shinya and Guren,” Yuu told him, a little on edge now. Mika noticed and squeezed is hand out of comfort. “But why were they kiss?”
“To throw us off, most likely. Unless they’ll be secretly dating as well.”
They both chuckled at the thought, then fell silent again. Mika pulled out his phone and turned on the front camera, acting as though he was taking a picture of him and Yuu. Instead, he zoomed in on the two men who were spying on them. Yuu looked as well, tapping the screen to focus on their hands.
“They might be dating,” Yuu thought out loud.
“We need something to happen so we can make a get away.”
“Like?”
Mika smirked. “We could go make out in a dark ally.”
Yuu smacked his arm, earning a laugh from the vampire. After a quick apology, he became serious. Yuu watched Mika’s eyes narrow in thought. As he did so, Mika’s idea was somewhat good. Maybe if they showed enough public affection, it might just make Guren and Shinya uncomfortable enough and they’d leave. So, without warning, Yuu pulled Mika into a deep kiss. Mika kiss back, like any good boyfriend would, but he was wondering why.
“What’s that for?”
“Do I need a reason to kiss my boyfriend?” Yuu replied with a look that Mika had never seen on his face, though he wasn’t going to complain.
“So you were thinking about making out in an alley?”
“Let’s just stick around here. You know, to make Guren and Shinya regret stalking us.”
Mika smirked bringing his mouth back down to Yuu’s. “Good enough for me.”
Guren averted his gaze from the boys, a little disturbed by their sudden display of affection. Shinya, on the other hand, wanted what they had, but with the violet eyes man beside him. Guren started to tug his hand, to lead him away, but Shinya pulled him closer. Guren looked at Shinya with his normal annoyed expression, but stopped when he looked at his face.
Instead of Shinya’s usual happy and teasing smile, he saw a kind one. He watched as the fair-haired man placed a hand on his check and the other on his shoulder. Then, very slowly, moved his head to meet his. Guren knew what was happening, but at the same didn’t. All he knew is that they were kissing each other and it felt amazing.
When they finally broke apart, which to them was centuries later, they gazed into each other’s eyes. They were about to kiss again when Guren remembered what they were there for. Shinya remembered as well. They both looked back to where the boys had been standing before, only to find them gone.
“Well, that’s a bust,” Shinya stated.
“Yep.”
“What now?”
“We go back to my place,” Guren grinned, pulling Shinya along.
“What for? Thought we had to go headquarters.”
Guren looked back over at Shinya’s teasing grin. “HQ can wait for a report for the night, cause to night it’s just me and you.”
Shinya blushed, causing Guren to smile. The two went back to where the car was parked and headed to Guren’s apartment. Neither one had noticed that the light to Mika and Yuu’s apartment was on as they drove away.
Up in the apartment, both of them laughed.
“I can’t believe it,” Yuu chuckled. “Our kissing made them horny for one another.”
Mika laughed at it as well, shaking his head. “I can’t believe they’re dating.”
Their laughter died down and Yuu picked up a notebook and pen. Mika watched as his hand started to shake while he wrote and soon enough he was crying. Mika hugged him, doing all he could to make him feel better, but nothing worked.
“I’ll be fine,” Yuu told Mika with a reassuring smile. “Goodbyes are hard sometimes, you know?”
Mika nodded in agreement, picking up his notebook to write his farewells too. They both sat there for an hour, writing for an hour to each friend individually. By the time they were done, they had hand cramps and it was nearly midnight. The bus they needed to catch would be at the bus stop in an hour and fifteen minutes.
Mika ripped out his pages and put them in envelopes for everyone, labeling each of them. Afterwards, he went into the kitchen, filling a small cooler with ice for his blood. Luckily for him, his blood supply has just been freshly restocked, so he’d have enough blood for three months, maybe for if he were smart about it.
While packing his blood, Yuu came in, his eyes slightly puffy and red from all the crying. Mika had told him that it was okay if they didn’t run away; that it was all right if he had to live among the humans the rest of his life. Wherever Yuu was is where he’d be. But Yuu knew Mika hated the humans, even though he got along with a few of them.
“As long as you’re happy and we’re together, nothing else matters,” Yuu always told him.
Yuu grabbed a few snacks out of the cupboard and started filling his pockets. Mika went to the closet, pulling out all their bags that they had. Most their bags were already in the car that they’d smuggled out of the city, but they each had a bag to take there.
Ten minutes later, they both stood in front of the door, ready to leave. Their letters were on the counter, ready to be read for whoever comes in next. Yuu took another look around before opening the door and stepping out. Mika did the same, flicking the light off, and leaving the door open.
They exited the building again, running down the street to the bus stop and waited. Once it came, they rode till five in the morning where they processed to walk the rest of the way. The car they had stolen was in a parking garage waiting for them.
They both hopped in, driving away to wherever life would take them.

The First of Many or the First and the Last?
Mikayuu Week2016 Day 2- Protection & Selflessness (I read it as selfishness, rip) Wrote it to Luna by Zoe
Silence enveloped the blond boy. Nothing. He heard nothing after that blood curdling scream. His world stood still as he watched from afar how both blades had simultaneously, lethally pierced right thru each of their opponents. In an instant the vampire was turned to ash, while her sword stayed forced into the chest of the raven haired boy. Wide-eyed, he watched it all. Yuu’s head hung low as he pulled the sword out, falling to the floor as his knees buckled from the stinging pain. He could feel the nausea coming in as the blood began to make its way up his esophagus. It sickened him every time, but it felt different this time. It hurt to breath.
“Yuu-chan! No! No, no!“ Mika ran to the body on the floor, nearly tripping as some unstable rubble sunk beneath him. “Yuu-chan! Yuu…” he lays the boy slowly on his lap, careful to neither  lay him too horizontally or have him exert too much energy on sitting up.
The emerald eyes open, staring up into to ruby ones before him. Their eyes say a million words to each other in that moment. Things that had been said, things that were still left to be said. “I’m sorry.” Mika, I’m sorry. I don’t think I’ll be able to keep my promise.
“No! No, Yuu-chan! You’ll be fine. We just need to get you somewhere safe and tend your wound,” he mutters, talking so fast that it’s more of an surance for him rather than for Yuu to hear. The blond boy begins to move him, hoping to get him back to their HQ, despite everything that he had read in those eyes.
Yuuichirou lets out a curdled grunt from trying to sit up. “I’m not g-going anywhere,” he laid back onto Mika’ lap as he tried to get his breathing under control. Queasiness overtook him. He could feel how his insides were in tight knots, how his heart was simultaneously tunneling up his throat and sinking to the depths of his stomach, physically and emotionally. He wished he could just lay there for the rest of his life, curled up in the safety of those arms. More tears began to run down his face at the thought of having Mika watch him die.
They said that vampires lose their emotions until nothing but bloodlust remains, but Mika swore that he had never felt a pain so heavy in his heart even when he was human. His hold tightened on Yuu. It felt as though a sole string remained, barely holding his heart together from bursting and falling apart as he watched the boy in his arms. Despair solidified itself in his throat. He couldn’t take it. “You selfish bastard! I am not going to sit back and watch you die! I’ll do anything to protect you. To keep you alive… to keep you with me!” he shouts, unable to stop the following tears that were quickly pooling up and clouding his vision. Anything…
Yuu’s eyes widen as fangs were flashed.“Don’t! - can’t turn me! You’re not - noble,” the raven haired boy used what strength he had left to try and shove Mika away, choking at the exerted movement.
Mika’s face scrunched up. Whether it was in disgust or from the pain of having Yuu think that he would still abide to the laws of the monsters that had ruined his life. That feeling quickly left him as the boy in his arms began to visibly black out, “Yuu-chan!” Mika quickly bit down on his own lip, hard enough to feel the blood beginning to pool up in his mouth, “I don’t live under their laws,” he growled as he leaned in towards Yuu.
Barely holding on, a trembling hand makes it was to the blond’s cheek, “Mika…”
“I-I can’t protect you if you’re dead…” Mika whispers onto his lips.Gazing deep into Yuu’s eyes, their lips meet for the first time.
*its not the best and its short, sorry
