Mika had never seen Yuuichiro like this. The strong-willed human had once been filled with such rage toward the vampires, determination to fight, elation when they were reunited all those years later.

At times, he even thought he saw love in the boy's beaming smile. A love to match his own--unspoken, but all too present in every word they spoke.

But right now, all he could see was suffering. All hatred and joy alike were drained from the boy he cherished, leaving him cold and despondent. The sight alone was enough to have tears beading in Mika's eyes.
