When it comes to transportation it's hard to beat the fun and economy of motor bikes. Because my dad was such a gear head my brothers and I got on dirt bikes at an early age. Maybe the reason my mom thought it was a good idea for me to ride a motorcycle on the streets of Kona as my first means of private transportation. Unfortunately I almost killed myself a few times. Most fortunately somehow I survived it all haha. Diego Furiatti is a passionate wave slider from Uruguay who has taken up motor biking in the countryside when the waves are down. He lent me one of his bikes so I could experience the freedom and joy of a different type of ride. Mission accomplished 🙏 (at Uruguay) https://www.instagram.com/p/Co-7SLULWo2/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Water molecules in a frozen state. How many journeys around this planet has one of these molecules gone. And for a large percentage how many planets and celestial bodies have they visited in the last 4-5 billion or so years since they were created. https://www.instagram.com/p/CovSHc2OciE/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

All smiles as us Boogie freaks reunite for a dawn patrol in Arica Chile. The stoke from riding waves always seems to make for better persons and when returning back to land, this must certainly benefitt all they come in contact with. Image 1 by @gopro #goprohero10 Image 2 by @pablojimenez_photo Congratulation @amuray for a Historic performance at the event. Someone prove me wrong but I think his total combined wave scores in one heat might be the highest ever recorded in professional wave riding 53.7 I believe Shane Beschen onced scored three 10s does anyone know what were his backup scores? Image three: Amaury’s freakishly synced heat scores 53.7 (there might actually be a couple high scores missing) (at Arica, Chile) https://www.instagram.com/p/CdXB1u8rbhD/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Pipeline has been a bit wild lately. Recently I was trying to surf an outer section of the reef and ended up getting stuck in a weird current for a while. I finally caught one or I should say it caught me and shot me forward into a super fun high speed glide. This flight sensation got me through about 4 flat sections where the wave seemed to stop breaking entirely before it would steepen up again on various shallower sections. The inside got pretty nuts. Another Slabby thing. When paddling in larger surf, I find myself spending most of the time nervously paddling around, trying to position myself. The objective is a balance between getting deep enough on the takeoff to maximize the waves potential yet avoid getting tossed or mowed down by a set. If you don’t have access to good land marks you end up anxiously focusing on the upwellings and subtle curvatures of water in a special way. Typically as a session progresses and you learn more about where and when the sets are breaking you can re-position yourself. In this instance I could certainly be deeper but then again very glad I didn’t get the beat down. This is the runway I was referring to in yesterdays post. Log Jamming. Clearing the runway of large debris that this zone somehow attracts. I was barely able to budge this thing a few feet towards the impact zone. The next wave sent it hurtling shoreward like it was a twig. The kinetic energy in waves is something else. Battering rams away! The Morey family wishes to invite the global wave riding community to participate in a global memorial paddle out, November 6, 2021 to celebrate the life and contributions of Tom Morey. The family’s wishes are to see surf and boogie communities around the world organize the specifics of where and what time they have their paddle outs, but that we all come together as a tribe, a family of ocean lovers and wave riders on the same day, around the world, in peace. Please share this information widely with your networks. An easy way to set up your own paddle out is to copy and reshare this post, with your own update of location and time for paddle out. We look forward to grabbing our boogies and heading into the surf with you all, and hope to see as many of our tribe celebrating Tom Morey’s life together on the 6th of November 🤙 In Kona a paddle out will be at 10:00am at Wai’aha beach park (Honls) there will be a 9:00am commencement for Tom and the birthplace of the Boogie! Please loose flowers or Ti lei only (no strings) 🌸 or better yet just help someone out or do a good deed in a tribute to Tom.💙 https://www.instagram.com/p/CVjTk-QPcO-/?utm_medium=tumblr

The intense anticipation of a large Teahupoo set can create as much anxiety as swinging to drop in on one. What was once unbelievable is now fairly common place as the bar continues to be risen at this break. Interesting side note Scotty Carter waited all day for this set. Half way down the drop his film ran out, (that happened a lot in those days) As I negotiated the drop and bottom turned into the chamber, he exclaimed “Unbelievable” in an outburst of defeat. Changing seasons. It’s said that the only constant in life is change. But these times, seem anything but constant. A random assortment of sights and experiences on my way back from the East Coast. Slide 1 Fall colors Slide 2 Synthetic colors in some in this desert art, apparently from burning man. Slide 3 Desert scene likely unchanged for eons. Slide 4 I never thought I would see this in my lifetime. My visit to a dispensary. While I didn’t buy or partake I found the exquisite presentation fascinating. What use to put someone in jail is now creating profits for the state. #fall #season #color #artwork #artist #dessert #eon #scenery #legal #weed #capitalism (at USA) https://www.instagram.com/p/CUvP-9YP7Jt/?utm_medium=tumblr

Still celebrating and a congratulations to Sammy Morretino, and the entire team for their recent exceptional competitive performances. Supporting young ridders going after their dreams has always been something I am passionate about. Demonstrating exceptional skill, humility, a good attitude, and determination is what I try to encourage. Slide 1 Hawaiian Sammy Morretino wins his fourth consecutive DK IBC world title. Slide 2 former world champion Ayaka Suzuki from Japan, makes history by winning the Men’s and Women’s division at the Belmont Pro. Slide 3 Yazdan Castro from Costa Rica makes the Podium starting from round 1. Slide 4 Former world champion Joana Schenker from Portugal narrowly missed the podium. Slide 5 Armide Solavares from the Canary Islands posted the highest score of the event and also narrowly missed the podium. Slide 6 Kawika Kamai from Hawaii made the podium in the DK division @ibc.worldtour #bodyboarding #team #spirit https://www.instagram.com/p/CT8ELzWh2pS/?utm_medium=tumblr

Head first into the pit. It was this seemingly gravity defying lip lunge some 40 years ago that started my obsession with this wave. Experiencing the changes of life with family, friends and possessions, this is a constant I continue to be drawn towards.
