“Probably just another bad play,” she shrugged. “Can’t you turn the energy….. into.. good energy?”
“Let’s be real, nobody at this school is that good at acting.” Ana snorted. “Probably. That much bad energy though, that’d take a lot of effort. And probably a cleansing ritual, honestly.”

“I don’t know, I think knowing what everyones thinking would be pretty cool, a huge burden, but cool none the less” he nodded, “What’s an aura?”
“I think it would be like too much noise ... you know, all the thoughts of the people in a certain radius going on all at once. Either it would be super perverted or really depressing. Might find a secret serial killer in the mix, which is kind of awkward. Oh --- an aura is your energy. Some people throw off really strong auras and they can affect one another. Like someone’s infectious good mood.”

“My problem isn’t that I don’t get it, I just can’t sit still and pay attention, it’s too boring. I have to teach myself everything after class cause I’m always daydreaming or- well, skipping” he smiled
“I mean, some people swear that burning helps them concentrate. In my personal experience --- being around people who do it, but not doing it myself, that they just wind up spacing out worse. Or driving really slow. But skipping is good. Where’s your spot?”

“Yup, I would but… Just got diagnosed with the “I fucking can’t” disease. Oops.”
“Sounds terminal. But at least they can treat it until you kick off. I hear liquor works.”

“Alright, cool. Company is always appreciated either way” he nodded, starting to walk, “I know what you mean, my calc class is so boring it’s a battle to stay awake every day”
“I’m pretty sure my brain wasn’t made to calculate this many numbers. It was fine before they introduced the alphabet. Then it all went to shit. ---Skipping out is a better decision, definitely.”

“How did you-….how would you know that? Are you psychic or something?”
“I’d hate it if I were. Reading people’s mind all the time would blow. I’m just good at reading auras.”

“You’re insane.”
“Maybe, but at least I know how to enjoy myself. You should try it, sometime.”

“You’ve never walked into a room and immediately felt static in there? Glares and bad energy and all that shit?”

“Did you just comment on the energy?”
“Yeah, it’s pretty static-y. Like you’ll get electrocuted if you walk in there. Not into it.”

“I punched someone in there earlier? Is that the energy? Granted it was staged, I actually did fucking punch them. They were being a dick.”
“It could be. That’d actually be pretty funny to see. All I heard was arguing. Maybe the punch started it, who knows? It’s too cloudy in there for me to be nosy.”

“Nah, I don’t need notes. But you should skip next period and come out with me. I’m thinking of stopping down at that occult book store they opened near my apartment.”

Fun Little Facts;
Mikhail is primarily left-handed, but has ambidexterity. When he was a young boy his father drilled into his head that being left-handed was wrong, and thus forced him to use his right hand. As he went through high school, Mikhail began using his left hand again for writing. He always, however, played music left-handed. While he obviously prefers to use his left hand he will occasionally use the right when he finds it advantageous.
Mikhail uses reading glasses. He has low farsightedness. (About +0.50 ou) which requires he use glasses when he reads. However he does not wear them often, and does so when doing homework or writing music. They’re fashioned as the thick-rimmed, black glasses (aka hipster glasses) and he’s had them since his freshman year of highschool (almost 10 years).
Mikhail is deathly allergic to soy. He has allergies to tetracycline and dilaudid as well, however the soy has landed him in the hospital on one occasion. He takes steps to avoid any contact with anything soy thusly.
Mikhail has a large, noticeable scar bisecting his abdomen. This is from surgery due to severe, chronic pancreatitis as a child. Because of his various stints in the hospital through his youth (and the one from two years ago) he is not fond of the facility in general.
Mikhail has a fascination with swing dancing. And has even gone so far as to take private lessons, now that he has money to spend on little things. It’s branched out into the love of dancing in general, but he’s taken swing classes and enjoys attending them even now.
Mikhail’s performances are quite emotional. No, he won’t be moving anyone to tears but it seems to be a commodity in the music industry nowadays --- too many performers are just singing out the lines with no feeling to them. Mikhail has a talent at delivering the tone of the song with his voice. As a result he seldom looks up from his guitar, or from within his hair, but the trade off is worth it. If it’s an angry song, he’s angry. If it’s a sad song, his voice is rough and conveys that sadness. This is a talent he’s proud of, though he doesn’t brag.

Illysanna “Ana” Vasile, 17, Junior, Outcast
Strange for sure, Ana embraces all of the things that make her entirely unique. As such, she has little time for those who are either intolerant or rude to her. Instead she just grins at them ( as if she’s plotting something ) and stays silent. It’s relatively effective.
Adores her father and supports his band/career fully. However, she keeps his fame to herself. She was raised to be humble and never brags about her financial status ( or really brags at all ).
Privately sings and plays guitar. She was taught at a young age how to play the latter from her father. He gifted her the guitar that belonged to his grandfather, Nikolaj.
Entirely embraces her heritage, and is a proud practicing Pagan. While she won’t go around preaching it to others, she will happily answer any questions she’s asked ... even if they’re sarcastic. She always wears a crystal around her neck as well -- for good health.
She has some memories of her mother. While she was never married to Mikhail, Ana’s mother lived with them and traveled with them until she passed away. Ana was three. Mikhail and Ana settled down in New York when Ana was ten, and while Mikhail travels for his band he often sends home gifts, letters, or cards for Ana so she doesn’t feel forgotten.
Classes
German Language, Music Theory, European History, Statistics, Forensics
Connections
Ophelia Rolff: Why are they friends? It’s a question that Ana has heard her entire career at Ana, but more because she’s strange and really nobody at all while Ophelia is beautiful and popular. Ana doesn’t seem to mind that Phe is boring, as some say ... instead she sees it as a blank canvas to be molded into anything they desire. Often times Ana will lace her fingers with Ophelia’s and drag her off on some new adventure to be had. In truth, Ana values and adores her friends more than anyone
Jamie Andrews: Birds of a feather flock together, or so they say. Both children of musically inclined parents, Ana found herself first drawn to Jamie for the very same reasons that she keeps to herself about the fame of her own father --- they were in a similar boat and refused to let it define them as people. As time went on, and as Ana got to know him she came to truly enjoy his artistic talent. Lacking any artistic talent herself ( not counting her musical talent ), she finds beauty in all forms of media that Jamie expresses himself in. In truth, she’s drawn to the beauty of his soul ( and she will claim it is entirely spiritual ) and there’s just something comforting about being around him.

With any sort of minority, issues of ostracization or misrepresentation are clearly rampant. It’s just so deeply rooted in our culture and there are so many levels that it trickles down from. It becomes an issue of diversity and equality and race and gender. In a parallel sense as well, there’s the issue of black characters being killed off first. I know that’s been a topic of conversation over the last couple of years. So these are huge-scale cultural and social barriers that we’ve established—and I guess now it’s time to start breaking them down.

emmyfuk:
“Good,” she muttered, and let him pull her away. Her body was racing with perfect scenarios that wouldn’t even play in his head because currently his body was too preoccupied with getting them to a room, something he wanted all too badly. Her body was next to his, her body in warming up with ever step they took.
As they walked to the room, Mikhail made them scatter and a smirk was pressed on her face, something that he should warrant as dangerous. Her steps brought her closer to him and the haze that was clouding her brain wasn’t fogging over her judgement. Walking up right in front of him, lips hovering in front of his, the dim light from the room making it almost seem still for a moment. “Anything you’d like to do?”
His eyes could have went cross as they traced her motion, the nearer the got and the more focused he remained on her form but instead he allowed them to focus after the most rapid of blinks. His brain had him convinced she’d disappear if he lingered a second too long with closed eyes but instead the attention trained to her tiers. A hard focus. He wanted so many things in that moment. It all came down to one specific request.
“Un sarut --- A kiss. That usually decides it.” Was that his voice? Too breathy, as if she had already slipped her hand somewhere that certainly wouldn’t be appropriate for out in the common area. Imagination was a dangerous thing, more so in the hands of a man like Mikhail whose ran rampant of its own accord. Add in the mixture of his state of mind, bliss would be mixing themselves together on any surface that would bear them and forcing much of their angry tension out that way. It’d solve nothing. It’d make more problems than had been there before.
But he wasn’t thinking like that, of course.
