I can’t believe how little they used Jeongyeon. This song had so many parts perfect for her powerful voice. I Want You Back should have showcased Jeongyeon. I grew up listening to this song and was so excited for my favorite band to cover it, but the line distribution is terrible. We all know the notes she can hit, we all know the ease she could have had with the harder parts that were given to others who had to readjust a perfect song just to make it sound like they could sing their part. I Want You Back is a hard song with the lead vocals originally done by no other than MJ himself and they should have used their best power singer to do the timeless song justice. As someone who sings and listens to this song constantly I am really disappointed. Don’t give me an English excuse either. We know when it is an accent messing with the lyrics and when it is just a struggle to sing them. Songs that would give her an amazing moment to show what she can do are always given to others who struggle with it and have so much backing and layering. Jihyo and Jeongyeon are not just performers but also talented vocalists. I love all of Twice, they are all talented beyond belief, but at least give the parts that would best fit a certain member to them no matter what member they may be. P.S. I am happy Mina got lines.
