Thinking about Gale's propensity to verbosity. I see this as an extension of him being very verbally expressive. I headcanon that he's very rarely completely silent. Verbalising is just part of his way of processing, understanding and enjoying life. I imagine that he:

- Talks to himself regularly. Sometimes it's just bits and pieces of his own thought process, exclamations, little phrases of delight and discovery. Other times he's addressing himself. There may be some exhortation - "pull yourself together", "you can do better than that", so on and so forth. Sometimes he's just chatting, even if there's no one there.

- Hums. Gale is a distracted hummer. If it's quiet, and his mind is relatively still, he'll fill the silence with contented humming, much like a satisfied cat purring. His humming isn't always melodic, as in the ceremorphosis/mirror image scene, but it's adorable. When he wants to be melodic and dramatic, Gale-

- Sings. I just cannot imagine Gale not putting his heart and soul into every word when he sings. And just like everything else he puts his mind to, he's good at it. He enjoys it. He can deliver a rousing tune, he can command an audience. And he probably knows it.

- Has/continues conversations with his significant other in his head, and assumes they can follow them in real life. I imagine Gale ruminating on a conversation with Tav after it's ended, bouncing the rest of his thoughts off them in his mind. Then randomly launching into them days later, completely out of context, as though Tav knows what the hell he's talking about. Gale would forget that Tav hasn't been privvy to the rest of the discussion that's gone on in his mind. Confusing. Adorable.

the fact this lyric mentions darkness makes it ten times better. it could apply to her loyalty to the lady of the dark, shar. while she may feel like the goddess is the best thing to happen to her, she fails to realize the damage her goddess has done to her. " i clipped my wings and fell from flight to open water and floated farther away from myself. " turning her back to lady shar feels as if she lost herself, feeling as if she had crashed and burned even though she was freeing herself from the abuse she had been put through by a goddess who truly didn't love her like she thought.

for the longest time, all she had was her goddess and her followers who were deluded just like shadowheart was herself. of course she only stuck close to others who would feed into shar's greatness. " they're all that i was and never could be. "

shadowheart's breaking point. the moment she realizes she needs to break from her religion. she needed to figure out just who she actually was. " knives in the backs of martyrs, lives in the burning fodder. "

shar's fellow followers she had gotten to know since she started to worship her lady vs the one's who got burned because of the goddess' actions. " as you point where your halo had been but the light in your eyes has been squandered. there's no angel in you in the end. "

lady shar was nothing like shadowheart thought anymore. the evil actions of the goddess were finally put on display. " selfish fate, i think you made me this. " because she did. shar made shadowheart, and that's something she will never be able to change.

Astarion's like a dad who didn't want a pet

I want to talk about the second romance scene with Gale prior to the Waterdeep illusion. The one where they are talking on the grass. I find it so heartbreaking that when before Gale says, "I'm in love with you", he pauses, like he's holding his breath. And he even looks so sad and heartbroken already like he is EXPECTING rejection. He is EXPECTING to get hurt again. He can't believe someone could actually just... love him for him.

And even when tav responds, "I'm in love with you, too." he's LOOKING AWAY frowning. Like he can't bear to look at tav. He just laid his whole heart out into that confession and can't even look tav in the eye to hear their response. He just truly believes he's going to get hurt.

But once tav says those words, his eyes literally light up. He even has to EXHALE because the entire time he was waiting on an answer, he felt like he had to hold his breath. This is so vulnerable for him and it's like he's USED to rejection and getting his heart broken.

Responding with: “That’s a relief…” it’s like once he finally hears someone say they love him back just as much, if not MORE, he can breathe again. It probably feels like he’s breathing for the first time since being inflicted with the orb.
