Hello?
Mother? Father?
Sister? Brother?
Where are you?
Where are you?
It's so dark here...
Like my monotonous life before
I'm ruined,
And abandoned
What happened?
I asked myself
Disheartened,
That's what I felt
When I saw pieces of me
Lingering on the ground;
Complete yet broken
I was unspoken

My realizations on the story Dead Stars by Paz Marquez Benitez
I remembered what ma'am Sab told us before, that authors write based on their time or era. Just like in the story of Dead Stars made by Paz Marquez Benitez, he did it long ago when a new era had just begun after the Spaniards conquered the Philippines. In the olden days it was like that, that people thought of men as brave and reliable while women were emotional and kind. I realized in the story that sometimes we will do things that we thought we wouldn't do, and sometimes we do things that can't make us happy but can make other people happy, like a sacrifice.

Academic Essay {First Quarter}
Homeworks on Weekends, Helpful or Not?
⠀ Others say that teachers should stop giving extra work or homework to students especially on weekends, but others say that it is right for them to do that. But what exactly are its advantages and disadvantages? Have a look at the examples I wrote and decide for yourself.
⠀ The advantages of doing homework on weekends. First, it helps us remember the information we learned in school. What teachers teach at school can be reviewed or even studied at home when they do homework that is connected to the topic they studied. Second, the student learns time management. When there is a lot of work, the student will learn to schedule what needs to be done so that it can be completed immediately and do other things that they need to do such as chores and extracurricular activities. Third, it improves study skills and study habits. They will be able to think of techniques or strategies on how to answer their homework more easily and understand better such as how and where to get the information they will put there.
⠀ On the other hand, one of its disadvantages is that homework eats up free time. Instead of being able to rest and do the things you want to do, you have extra tasks that need to be completed. Next, less time for students to study for the upcoming tests. In other subjects, there are also tests and tasks, so if there is more work, it will be difficult for the student to do or finish them, especially if they are given at the same time and they have the same due date. Lastly, less time for family and extracurricular. Weekends are often used by families to go for a walk, go out and bond with each other. Other extracurricular activities are also only done every weekend because there is school on weekdays and it is necessary to focus more on studying.
⠀ What do you think? Should there be homework on weekends or not? People's opinions about this are still divided, so we still don't know what is the correct answer to that question. Besides, people have different opinions and it is possible that what is right for us is wrong for them. However if you have homework, I hope you finish it soon and I hope it's not too much so you don't get stressed, just do what you think is right and good for you.

Journal No. 5 {First Quarter 05/09/22}
Today we all have the same lesson. What we studied were coherence, cohesion and transitional devices. Ma'am Sab asked us how we write a story, what are our techniques. We also studied the types of narratives, I've said it before but I'll say it again, my favorite type of narrative is the linear narrative, because it's easy but what I often do, it's very interesting and a bit difficult for me is the non-linear narrative. Our assignments today are to write an academic essay, and read the Iliad and The Odyssey by Homer.

Journal No. 4 {First Quarter 02/09/22}
Ma'am Sab left us in the classroom today, she said there was a conflict with her schedule. She said that we will only do free writing today, and that is, we will write a letter to our 25 year old self. When I heard that I thought it was easy but when I was doing it, I had a hard time knowing what to say to my future self, I had so much to say but I didn't know what to tell first. While we were doing what we were asked to do, we talked about things like, "Who was your English teacher when you were in grade seven?", and "We were made to do that before" and etc, such talks and stories. We became closer to each other today. By the way, I can't forget that my ballpoint pen broke and the ink spread on my hand today, I always have a problem every school day. Last Friday, I was late for specialization, on Wednesday this week, my favorite shoes broke, what else will be my problem in the next few days?

Today, ma'am made us read a riddle we did and they will guess it. Ma'am Sab didn't guess mine, but Kurt, a grade eight student who was with us in our specialization class, did. No one guessed the riddle that Hanna and Sofia did. After that, she told Edric, Mary Rose, Alessandra and Kurt read their work with the topic, "What is a wonderful world for you". Ma'am corrected their wrong grammars and even we, their seniors, also learned because we were able to hear again those topics that we used to study. After all that, the next lesson is proverbs. We made two proverbs based on our experience which is English and its Tagalog. We also made a short story based on a proverb in the PowerPoint that was sent to us.

Ikaw, Oo Ikaw
Alam kong hindi patas ang mundo
Alam kong hindi ako ang gusto mo

Journal No. 16 (28/04/2022)
What we studied today was a short story entitled, A Rose For Emily. We analyzed the story, ma'am asked us quite a lot like "Who are the characters?", "What is the setting of the story?", "How will you describe the characters in the story?", and "Why do you think the title of the story is like that?". We pretty much didn’t remember the other details of the story, and because of what we did, I realized that when reading a story, other details should be remembered and should be taken into account as well. Ma'am Sab also told us what way of writing the author used, it was said to be I Medias Res. The signifier and signified were also pointed out to us. The signifier is said to be the thing that gives meaning, and the signified is the meaning of the thing. I also learned that the author writes his story of how people lived in his time. With an activity given to us, we will make a short story using I Medias Res.

Talaarawan Ng Damdamin
Iring damdaming akin nalang itinatangis Lugmok sa kapighatian Aking irog ako'y iyong pagbigyan Pag sinta'y ibalik, kahit saglit, kahit minsan
