It’s been a while, but I’ve spent so much time listening to this band and oh my Gosh, how much energy they give me! They were my music charger during May and June, so ladies and gentlemen, attention, amazing Nothing But Thieves!

Вже досить довго не було новин від мене, але весь травень та червень я слухала цих хлопців!  Ця музика заряджає, тож, пані та панове, приголомшливі Nothing But Thieves!

As Joe says, all the songs are more personal, but Trip Switch is closer to kind of a social commentary.

I would say this video is about emotionlessness and boredom in today’s fast changing world. We’re surrounded by beauty, but it’s taken for granted. All this people in the video see art, they’re interacting, doing things which are supposed to bring pleasure and be exciting, but there’s nothing. They “just want to feel something real”.

На мою думку відео відображає беземоційність та нудьгу по відношенню до умов оточуючого швидко змінюючогося світу. Навкруги стільки неймовірного, але ми не звертаємо уваги на це. Тут всі дивляться на витвори мистецтва, але не бачать його краси, вони взаємодіють, роблять те, що повинно захоплювати та приносити задоволення, але нічого. Зовсім. Вони просто хочуть відчути щось справжнє. (в англ. варіанті цитата з пісні – прим.)

C O U N T E R F E I T.

If you haven’t heard about this band till now… well, then this post is for you, because it equals crime against the notion of music taste not to know them! A bit more than a week ago they had concert in Lido, Berlin and this was just WOW. Seriously. But let’s get to that step by step. Sorry, but this time post will be increeeeeedibly long!

COUNTERFEIT are an English punk rock band from London formed in 2015. I wanted to get to the concert ever since. Their debut album “Together we are stronger” was released on March 17, 2017.

Members: Jamie Campbell Bower, Tristan Marmont, Sam Bower, Roland Johnson, Jimmy Craig.

Musthear: EVERYTHING! But if you still need to be convinced my absolute favorites probably would be: Hold Fire (which is not actually from the album, but from extended single ”Come Get Some”), You Can’t Rely, Lost Everything.

Video: Just today (11.04.2017) they released new video for song “As yet untitled”, check it out and, as Jamie wrote, go feast your eyes.

Concert.

Let’s start with the fact that there are two bands on tour with COUNTERFEIT. And we all know how it usually works with the supporting acts: basically you don’t expect much from them. But this is not the case! I won’t talk too much about them even though they deserve it. So, both bands are from the UK. First one is called Decade, Second one – Tigress. You’ve got that perfect chance to hear new good music, don’t blow it.

And this is the moment.

 After 1:30 min. Intro COUNTERFEIT opened with “Washed Out”. They go to the crowd every now and then, Jamie climbs the girder on “Addiction”, he makes everyone sit around him and sing quietly on “Letters to the Lost”, they go into the middle of the mosh on “Come Get Some”, there is constant stage diving or its better to say onto stage diving. You get the atmosphere, right?

In moments like these I feel myself the most alive. I see the reason for everything. They’ve got the energy to fill in the biggest stages of the world. They’ve got everything to become one of the greatest. And I wish them all the best, because those five working their asses off while still having real fun on the stage. Interaction within the band and with public is incredible, chemistry is certainly there, so don’t miss out and give yourself a treat, go to their concert. I will. And more than once of that I’m sure.

It is literally British invasion at this year’s Sziget, so let’s check out Anne-Marie’s works. I guess this girl will provide awesome party with her performance at the festival.

Anne-Marie Nicholson was born in Essex in 1991, started her solo career in 2013. Since then she worked with Magnetic Man, Gorgon City, Raized by Wolves, Rudimenal and Clean Bandits.

Video: Boy. For whatever reason at some moments this video reminded me of good old Pink’s “Get the Party Started”. Don’t like to compare them though.

Перша відео робота у мене чомусь асоціюється з кліпом Pink “Get the Party Started”, але загалом я дуже не люблю порівнювати.

Alarm – I cannot simply leave this video out of the picture, while it is inspired by Buz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet movie.  

Alarm – ця робота для мене визначна вже тому, що натхненням до неї був відомий фільм База Лурмана Ромео + Джульєтта. Тільки молодого Ді Капріо тут і не вистачає:)

This week I want to continue with English bands, so let’s have a look at phenomenal alt-J. My associations with them would be autumn and melancholy, nut certainly in a good sense.

Цього тижня я хочу продовжити з англійськими гуртами, тож давайте поближче познайомимось з феноменальними alt-J. У мене вони асоціюються з меланхолією та осінню, але тільки в найкращих проявах.

Alt-J are an English indie-rock band formed in 2007 in Leeds, yes, another anniversary there ;D I like this tendency already!

Alt-J – англійський інді-рок гурт сформований в 2007 році в місті Лідс. Так, ще один ювілейчик, ага;)

Members: Joe Newman, Thom Green, Gus Unger-Hamilton.

Musthear: Left hand free, Every other freckle, Hunger of the Pine, Fitzpleasure. My personal favorites are Intro and Breezeblocks from the first album “An awesome wave”.

Обов’язкові до прослуховування такі треки: Left hand free, Every other freckle, Hunger of the Pine, Fitzpleasure. А моїми улюбленими все ж таки є Intro та Breezeblocks з першого студійного альбому “An awesome wave”.

Here I would also like to mention how well their first album functions as a whole, one song gently transfers into another and it is such a pleasure to dive into alt-j’s reality for an hour or two.

Не можу не зауважити, що мало альбомів, які хочеться слухати повністю, а не вибирати якісь 2-3 треки. Перший їх альбом дуже цілісний, один трек плавно переходить в інший і зануритися у реальність alt-J – то величезне задоволення.

Video: Every other freckle. Great director’s job, awesome idea of filming two versions: Boy and Girl. At first it looks like the celebration of human body and beauty in general, but I believe it is one of the videos where you can find different kinds of meanings.

Хочеться звернути увагу на прекрасну режисерську роботу. Також сама ідея зйомки двох відео є незвичною. Спершу все це виглядає як схвалення людського тіла та краси загалом, але на мою думку це одна з тих відео робіт, в яких можна знайти той сенс, який ти шукаєш і для кожної людини увага акцентується на різних деталях.

I decided to take a tour and check the most of this year’s Sziget performers. Quite a challenge, huh?

I’d like to start with Kasabian, just because I can.

Цього року я вирішила добре підготуватись та переслухати якомога більше виконавців, які поїдуть на Sziget. Не так легко, як здається, правда? І почати я хочу з Kasabian, тому що чому б і ні?!

The Kasabian is an English rock band formed in 1997, so 2017 at Sziget is going to be an anniversary year not only for me, cheers for that!

Отже, Kasabian – англійський гурт сформований в 1997, тож 2017 буде ювілейним не тільки для мене і фестивалю ;D

Members: Tom Meighan, Sergio Pizzorno, Chris Edwards, Ian Matthews.

Musthear: Basic set would be Club foot, Underdog, Re-Wired, L.S.F., Bumblebee, Vlad the Impaler, The Doberman. My personal favorites are Bow and Empire. Interestingly enough for a long time I was listening to many songs by Kasabian without actually realizing that. I mean. I liked them and one day I decided to listen to several albums and it basically was: “WOW! I know this song! I love this song! I had no idea they wrote that!” I have no idea why it took me by surprise, but it did.

Базовий сет він такий, а що цікаво, я дуже довго слухала більшу частину пісень гурту не знаючи чиї ж вони насправді. Тобто коли я вирішила переслухати альбоми виглядало то приблизно так: «Вау! Я знаю ці пісню! Я ж люблю цю пісню! То вони написали?!». Досі не можу собі пояснити, чому мене той факт так здивував, але так буває.

Video: Switchblade smiles. Do I even need to comment on that? This is just perfect monochrome artpiece.

But if you ask me about video which comes to my mind when I hear “Kasabian”, that would be Empire.

Але чомусь коли думаю про кліпи Kasabian, першим на думку приходить Empire.

I found out about these girls just a couple of months ago and want to introduce them to those of you, who still haven’t heard of this awesome unusual duo.

Ibeyi is a French-Cuban musical duo, consisting of twin sisters Lisa-Kaindé Diaz and Naomi Diaz. They sing in English and Yoruba. Also they play such traditional Cuban instruments, as cajón and Batá drum, which makes them even more outstanding.

What about the name of the band? From Yoruba it is translated as “Twins”.

It is so cloudy these days and it is raining all the time, so I really enjoy listening to Ibeyi. They’re making atmosphere not so moody but light and calm.

This is officially a comeback!

«How Big How Blue How Beautiful» is an intro to the upcoming 3rd album and also the first video to go along with it. Video is pretty obscure; we see that Flo is interacting with someone who appears to be her doppelgänger.

Lead-single «What Kind Of Man» premiere will take place on BBC Radio 1 this Thursday night.

  Also, this summer Florence and the Machine will appear at the Sziget Festival in Budapest. While the album is surrounded with some kind of mystery, fans are still excited.

British band Lonely The Brave filmed a video for their new song “Backroads”. Main feature of this work is that it shows the moments from Maidan in Kyiv, Ukraine from the point of view of five friends. Everything has changed lately and it is just surreal to think of such events happening near you.

Filming took place in several locations in Ukraine, such as Kyiv and Korostyshev.

Kooks’ new video is for the single ”Down”. The official release of the single is on the April,20. Even though there is almost no info about the album yet, I hope they won’t make us wait much longer. 

For me “Down” has already become this spring’s soundtrack. So check this out. Hope you’ll like it.

For me winter is the time to summarize everything. Time to think of all the good things that have happened and to learn a lesson from all the mistakes I've done. 

This video shows the best 3 days of this summer.72 hours of happiness, non-stop music and endless drive. 

So awesome to watch this short film and plan next summer, which is going to be even crazier than this one. Hope each of you have something good to remember and something great in plans.
