This is why it's so important to remember that opinions aren't just opinions. These dictators' opinions became law. They became lives upended, lives lost. Families and generations and countries destroyed and still in recovery or in ruin. All because we are the wrong skin color, gender, sexuality, or religious belief.
Saying you support Trump is not an ambiguous statement. It is a declaration that you either 1) support his authoritarian regime and the destruction of the US, or 2) that you don't mind standing idly by as it happens because "the authoritarian isn't targeting me and mine."
This goes beyond Roman and his utter bullshit. It's about what you, yes you, are willing to overlook for your own reasons.
I understand it's hard letting go of someone you were/are a big fan of, but if you have any understanding of how malicious a man like Trump and his ideologies are to you or the people you love or people you don't even know but should care about because we're all human, you'll look at Joe/Roman with the same critical lens as you do Trump and choose not to support him.
Because yeah, it is that deep.
