you would think,,, after so long,,, people would understand that no, not everyone on DSMP wanted to be the "main character" - they just wanted to be included.

They wanted their own characters to have something going on, that is not the same as wanting to be a main character in a story that can be seen through multiple perspective, anyway.

What's the point of having so many perspectives when only one is important? What would be the point of streaming on DSMP if somebody's character didn't matter like that, if all they were was a side character, then why show that POV at all.

What would be the point of DSMP being different bc of the medium and streaming it if it only had one main character that we are supposed to follow.

anyway i have beef with yt commentary who have to make dsmp into something it isn't. its not a movie, not a tv series or a book. its mcyt rp that was streamed live. respect that or dont talk about it lmao

anyway while im complaining i think i will also complain about the minecraft movie. we all say the trailers and mocked it fucking relentlessly for looking stupid and like just the biggest fucking cashgrab. and then it came out and everyone went to watch it. seriously???? we cant even boycott a movie that looks like shit. the characters look awfully out of place compared to the backdrop of the movie and i dont care if thats a choice its too fucking ugly to stare at for 90 minutes and everything ive seen about the movie seems like its just "hey look heres a thing you can do in minecraft that jack black knows about" like GODDD why are we doing this

usually im a hater of rp blogs (they can clog tags and a lot of times i feel like theyre too ooc or they respond to annoying people) but theres always One Exception that i will check religiously.

I am so sad that no one talks about how fucking cool the beginning interactions between c!Technoblade and c!Tommy are on the smp. c!Tommy stole Fundy’s skeleton horse as vengance for being a traitor, rode through spawn to meet c!Techno, then had him guide him to Pogtopia over an (ingame) entire day, all while c!Schlatt was trying to gaslit him into thinking c!Techno was a double agent

It felt like a fucking stealth mission through the wilderness, especially since Spawn and Pogtopia are on opposite ends of the map, having to cross through parts of Manberg. At one point, they ended up seperated on c!Ponk’s property and he just fucking shot at c!Techno. 

 It was just c!Techno, gearless and c!Tommy doing his best to try and figure out what the fuck is eastwards.

Dream SMP World Download (TRIMMED)

Hello, I said I would try to trim down the world download for slower computers if I got my hands on it and I have now done the thing.

I got it down to 2,82 Gb (2.54 Gb zipped) while still being able to keep pretty much everything anybody would actually care about (unless you're a perfectionist) because I only deleted chunks that hadn't been loaded for longer than 10 minutes

My point is: you shouldn't be missing anything important even though this is trimmed down, and your computer will be much happier

Let me know if it works btw. I did do a quick test myself but nothing comprehensive

For a while now I've been thinking about how I kinda wish there was a "semi-peaceful" playmode in Minecraft, but I hadn't quite figured out what it would actually mean

But I think I just had an idea that could be fun to try make into a datapack or something:

Basically have hostile mobs in the overworld only spawn underground, except for illagers (also obviously no phantoms, fuck phantoms)

So basically caves would still be full of mobs, and the oceans would still spawn drowned at night, but on the surface you would only get the occasional pillager patrol (a little bit of excitement, but not a constant nuisance)

I would also change creepers to look more grey so they'd blend into caves. I know they're supposed to be plant creatures but whatever, maybe give them a bit of a mossy stone look?

I think this would be great, especially for multiplayer servers where you might have some people who want to avoid combat but still have a little bit of a thrill sometimes, and some people who do want to fight things but still think it's annoying to have mobs all over the place every night, or to have to skip the night for the sake of other players. There would still be dangerous areas where you would have to fight (underground, oceans, mansions, pillager outposts, nether, end dimension), but they would be specific places where you can choose to go if you want the specific resources found there

You wouldn't have to choose between a) lighting up everything, b) sleeping every ten minutes and c) just being swarmed by mobs every night, but you wouldn't have to just completely turn hostile mobs off either.

Because the thing about Minecraft mobs is that they're so easy to avoid by sleeping or lighting places up, and not doing so means being constantly bothered by them everywhere you go, so there's just no middle ground here. If you struggle with combat, you just have to sleep every night or huddle in a hole. If you're skilled enough and geared up enough to fend them off, they don't actually provide any challenge, they're just an annoyance. Either way it makes no sense not to sleep or light up your builds.

But what if you like the night and want to enjoy the atmosphere? What if you like to keep the lighting minimal and moody? Too bad, you're getting swarmed by groaning green guys and exploding green guys and bony guys who want to turn you into a pin cushion.... etc.

So much for the atmosphere.

But peaceful mode... is boring. I do want SOME combat, I just don't want it to be coming at me ALL THE TIME when I'm just trying to BUILD.

So yeah, that's what I'd like to have, a datapack or a mod that lets you have a semi-peaceful experience but still get to go out and have fun fighting things (and have access to hostile mob drops, unlike in peaceful)

I can't promise anything but if I do get my hands on the world download I will try to make a smaller filesize version of it (meaning I would delete all the areas that don't have proper bases or builds)

Obviously that would mean losing some details from chunks where people have been exploring and such, but I imagine that a lot of people with weaker computers would still appreciate just being able to visit the main areas, right?

(Unless someone else does this first of course, it's very possible)

If someone else does want to do this and already has the world download, Pix has made a handy tutorial for world trimming (I think this is the most up to date version)
