✎↷: hello you sweet bumblebee ;’D date night, just for you (and me)!

date night with killjoy and viper are humble things. they’re in the back of viper’s lab or underneath killjoy’s blankets, and always hidden away from the view of their fellow agents. it’s a night that isn’t a big deal, with no fancy dresses and suits and certainly nothing to bring but themselves, and it’s just the way the two partners like it. they’ll sit back on the couch with bowls of spicy noodles and a pirated documentary about something obscure, and a blanket or two piled over their laps.

cuddling is also involved. viper doesn’t engage it first, as killjoy finds her arms around the serpent’s waist at some point in the middle of the night, and they end up pressed together usually by the middle of the documentary. the scientist won’t mind the attention, knowing that it makes killjoy happy, but she won’t hesitate either to slap those hands away in case they get too handsy for her liking. which, to killjoy’s credit, don’t do often.

viper makes her own brews. they’re smaller, fun experiments for her to try, and the bonus is getting brimstone and omen to share them after a stressful day. except as tall and string-bean like killjoy is, the german is horrible at holding her liquor. viper had known this before they began dating, and yet— alcohol was a good way to spend time together, so why not? she has good intentions, and she knows that killjoy likes it anyways. it shouldn’t be much of a problem for viper.

killjoy talks. a lot. about things that don’t matter whatsoever. viper is well used to the chatterbox that is her girlfriend, but the second that killjoy had started to ramble about sterling silver shower heads and their prices on the market, she decided that giving killjoy alcohol was a bad idea. at one point they had been having actual conversation, but now the engineer was slumped over viper’s lap and mumbling something about the stock market and other things that viper didn’t care much about.

with that being said, viper much preferred killjoy without the alcohol. she liked her loser girlfriend, but she’d like it better if killjoy was able to sit upright without issues and a fully coherent mind. viper won’t deny that it’s useful to be able to de-stress her and have her falling apart within moments, but if she can manage to do that while she’s sober, then that’s what she’ll do.

a semi more fanciful date for the two would be making actual dinner together. viper, while harsh and scorn most of the time, takes it as her duty to look after the physical and sometimes mental health of other agents purely for her strength in medication. she’s worked on her cooking abilities to make it easier and more enticing for other agents to eat when they’re going through a more difficult time, but it means that she gets to share them with killjoy as well. it’s two birds in one stone, really.

the engineer can never say no to viper’s cooking. it really is good, and though she detests eating during her work periods or out of the designated hours of break time she’s given herself, she’ll give in to eating what viper has made for her more often than not. viper experiments with getting killjoy to eat heartier meals, like steaks and stew, and she’s been a mostly compliant subject the entire time sabine tested each recipe on her.

at some point, killjoy offered to help viper cook these meals out of slight guilt for only consuming them. the chemist was rightfully wary of the proposition at first, but after letting killjoy prepare her vegetables and other components, cooking for the two of them has become a four-hand operation instead of two. they have their different tastes of course, because killjoy only ingests carbohydrates, MSG, and unnecessary amounts of sodium, but having a handy possessive girlfriend around usually aids her in relieving these habits.

sometimes, it’ll be cooking outside of the regular dinner time. and then it’ll end up with killjoy insisting on viper helping her make the perfect puff pastry until they’re both tired of butter and layers and opt out of dessert for a more-forgiving salad instead. they’ve also argued over what kind of food is the best, and at times, they’ll even pull in molecular structure and whole scientific facts into it just to make a more convincing argument. they’re both experts at their stuff for a reason, and it’s never better displayed than a healthy couple’s fight.
