hi minty when i say that i shed TEARS at your hades and persephone drawing for turning fanweek IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL AND AAAAAAAAAAAAAA

ahhh omg i'm handing you tissues so fast!! it's incredibly flattering to hear that my art could evoke such an emotional reaction ;u; i'm glad to hear you liked that piece too bc it's one of my favorites out of the art i drew for the fanweek ^^

as a little bonus, i'll give a little director's cut/behind-the-scenes info for that piece under the cut!

so i actually drafted the hades/persephone piece second, after the genderbend prompt one for day 1, and kishiar's expressions carry a lot of the mood in both of these pieces. they're my favorites of the art i made for the fanweek this year for that reason.

as i said in the tags on the post, i chose yuder for the role of persephone because he brings change in tl2, much like persephone heralds the change of the seasons.

i was thinking of how tl1 kishiar acted with the knowledge that he would be gone in the future, making decisions as if he was trying to prolong time for himself, and how hades governs the dead, who can no longer experience the changes of life.

meanwhile in tl2, yuder prevents that future from occurring, so kishiar is able to continue enjoying life as he experiences it and look forward to the future rather than be held back by his condition. i thought that would be similar to how hades might look forward to persephone's return, and how she gives him something to look forward to in the monotony that is his responsibilities (or maybe that's my own interpretation of the myth hehe).

since this piece has both aspects of life and death, the blooming flowers on the once-withered tree, i like to think that this is where they meet when yuder returns from the surface!

i imagine that flowers begin to bloom on the trees around them as they both walk home together ^^

elle is the kind of kpop fan who would buy 50+ albums to collect all of his bias' photocards and win a fancall by accident but not actually go through with it bc he's too nervous. he told me this himself btw.

day 4 blindfold

additional notes under the cut! (be warned of major spoilers from the plot of nier: automata)

i think yuder parallels 2B given that he keeps others at a distance, struggles to recognize/admit his feelings, and for the most part will put his emotions aside for the sake of duty. yuder's motivations fit very well with one of the messages of the game too, which is that you have the power to create your own future and give life your own meaning. i think tl1 yuder also fits well with 2B's hidden android classification, which i'll go into later.

originally i wanted this piece to include someone as 9S and that was going to be kanna bc her awakener ability is somewhat similar to 9S' scanner designation and bc i think she would look good in his outfit lol.

alas. halfway through drawing i thought kishiar would also fit 9S bc his push/pull awakener ability is similar to 9S' attack animations where he doesn't directly hold the weapons with his hands and bc of the angst potential.

major spoilers for the game: 2B, who is secretly an executioner class android, has canonically killed 9S over and over under orders from higher authority. 9S doesn't "die" in the sense that he ceases to exist forever, bc as an android, his body can be remade and his backup memory can be redownloaded. however, you can imagine the psychological burden 2B carries with the repeated act of "killing" these versions of her companion with her own blade. the fact that 9S tries to befriend her each time his memory is reset, bc he doesn't know she was placed by his side to serve as his executioner, only adds to her internal conflict. it's implied later on in the game that 9S actually retains these memories of his "deaths" but he doesn't retaliate against 2B bc he cares deeply for her. now make 2B yuder and 9S kishiar. do you see my vision.

tldr i couldn't decide on who would be 9S and that's why this piece is pretty simple ;u; if i had chosen someone, i might have taken a really angsty route with this.

My addition to the Turning Fanweek 2025!

Day 4: "Do not stand by my grave and cry; I am not there, I did not die.”

Wrote a fanfic based on the game "The Dark Queen of Mortholme" (you can play it for free, it lasts like 30 minutes). Some of the lines from the game are used in this fanfic (sparingly). I hope you didn't play the game yet, as it will partially spoil the fanfic... BUT PLS PLAY IT AFTER, ITS SO GOOD!!!
