my coworkers, all of whom are white Christian women, said today that they think ANYONE of Palestinian descent should be deported to Gaza and then have bombs dropped on them.
They don’t know I’m Palestinian. I’m fucking terrified. We don’t have HR. I can’t lose my job. It’s crazy to me that they can spout genocidal bullshit but if I so much as mention my ethnicity they may turn on me and hate me.
I’m a patient care coordinator at a pulmonary practice. All I want to do is make sure my patients get the care they need and deserve. I’m the only care coordinator in my office. I’m great at my job. But it was so hard to focus today knowing that if my coworkers knew about one of the biggest aspects of my identity - one of the things about myself about which I am the most proud - they would stop seeing me as a person.
Fuck off with the bothsidesism. With the whataboutism. This is what the mass of propaganda and lies and anti-Arabism being spread in the media do. And I’m terrified.

Israel has cut water, electricity and food to Palestinians in Gaza. They are buying 10.000 M16 rifles and plan to distribute to civilian settlers in the West Bank to hunt down Palestinians. They're bombing the only way out of Gaza through Egypt, after telling refugees to flee through it, and have threatened the Egyptian government in case they let aid trucks pass through. Entire families, generations, are being wiped out and left to wander the streets hoping they don't get bombed.
Palestinians are using their last minutes of battery to let the world know about their genocide and are being met with a wall of "What about Hamas? What about the beheaded babies? Killing children on either side is bad!" even though the propaganda claims have been debunked over and over again. How cruel is it to ask somebody to condemn themselves before their last words? Or before grieving the loss of their entire families? When there's no such disclaimer to Israelis even though their government has shown over and over genocidal intent? Like who are you even trying to appease? What will your wishy washy statement do against decades of zionist thought infiltrating evangelical and Jewish stablishmemts?
Take action. Israel will fall back if public opinion turns its tide. The UK fell back on its bloody decision to cut aid to Palestine under public scrutiny. The USAmerican empire spends $3.8 billion dollars annually solely on this proxy war while its people suffer under a progressively military regime as well. News outlets are canceling last minute on Palestinian speakers while letting Israelis tell lies unchecked. Palestinian refugees are being targeted in ICE establishments and mosques are already being hounded by the FBI. France and Germany have banned pro-Palestine protests, while Netherlands and the UK have placed restrictions . You have the chance to stop this from turning into repeat of the Iraq war.
I want to do something but there's hardly anything for me to do from Brasil besides spreading the word and not letting these testimonies fall on deaf ears. I'm asking you to do this same ant work from wherever you are.

You hit it on the head with the twist obsession. It was a thing in the 00s, and it looks like ML never grew out of it. (ML's brainstorming goes back that far)
I think it was OSP that says you can only surprise the audience once with each twist (vs a satisfying conclusion to a setup which hits every time) and each twist reduces audience buy in for the next setup.
Yup
A twist is only good if you don’t expect it and it still makes sense with the story
ML has the surprise part down but completely ignores the latter

The thing is, I realized Adrichat didn’t stand a chance from the start once the bib leaked. His entire portion of the document was filled with contradictions and assurances that his character would never develop into anything more than he was at the start of the series. So when the S5 ending scripts leaked and revealed he wouldn’t be involved at all, I was shocked and upset, not with what they were doing (or not doing) with his character but rather with what that meant for the narrative as a whole. The ship carrying whatever investment I had in his character sailed and sunk long before canon had the chance to put a final nail in his character’s coffin. I can’t care about him anymore. He’s just a waste.

I'm a French person so forgive me if my English isn't good.
So I just got into Miraculous Ladybug, and I must say, the disproportionately unrealistically is amusing to me.
Andre Bourgeois would've have been kicked out of office for his abuse of power around his first term. Like seriously, the show portrays the citizens of Paris as unaware and lacking a backbone, when France (especially Paris) do not take abuse of power by the government lying down. Literally a year ago the entirety of France went on a nationwide strike and threatened to burn down Paris because the government wanted to raise the retirement age by 2 years. There is no conceivable way that people in the show would just bow down to the whims of the Mayor just because his stupid daughter threw a tantrum. And after Miracle Queen, he would have his head paraded on the streets. I'll be honest, the French have a proven track record of being prepared to burn Paris to the ground over most issues. It's pretty much our go-to mode of political expression. I doubt that the mayor prioritizing his stupid daughter over the wellbeing of his citizens would go over well.
Audrey Bourgeois should be facing lawsuits. This woman has been stated many times to fire her workers on a whim. Like I said before, French people are not lacking in backbone and the Style Queen should be facing lawsuits on the grounds of wrongful termination. Also, why isn't her awful behavior all over the news? Her image should be severely affected for the reasons mentioned above.
Chloe, Sabrina, and Lila should be expelled and facing criminal charges. Not only do we see Chloe, Lila, and Sabrina commit several crimes over the course of the series (i.e. theft, wasting emergency resources, fraud, academic fraud, harassment, physical assault, slander and defamation, destruction of property, breaking and entering, aiding and abetting terrorism), but bullying itself is illegal in France and considered a serious crime, especially in Paris. If it's reported with proof it can be taken to the police and the school board and the perpetrator can face up to three years of jail time along with a fine of 30,000 euros. All it would take is a single video of Chloe and her future would be as good as ruined due to the bullying and also the criminal record that she should have.
The President should've been involved since the beginning. The President lives in Paris, yet has done nothing about the Hawkmoth and Andre Bourgeois problem??? The only form of resistance we've seen outside of heroes were the occasional police force interference and the civilians fighting in heroes day (may favorite moment of the show).
Francios Dupont should be under intense investigation or completely shut down. Why is no one concerned that the highest rate of akumitizations come from a class of high school students? What do their parents think? Why is no one of authority investigating Hawkmoth's base of operations? It would realistically be the best lead that they have to finding out Hawkmoth's identity. The parents of the students should have either pulled the kids out or called up the school board with their concerns because there is no way a normal person would think that their child would be safe in an environment that is fermenting with negativity.
This is all that I could think of on the top of my head and probably the most glaring plot holes. Really, for a show written by French people, it is as far away from French that you can get.
Urban fantasy genre and all that but it’s really funny how the creator swears up and down the show (or it’s concept in general) can’t be written by anyone non french when there’s so much bull involved

*ignores all the big-character stuff going on*
i’m still salty they made lila such a shit liar in that everyone has to collectively lose braincells. no, the best way for a liar to really be an excellent character is that characters know they’re a liar, do everything they can to not get trapped, and yet somehow find themselves trapped
aka azula raised the bar too high on effective antagonists

I hate Adrien in the sense that he doesn’t fulfill his narrative role and isn’t fun to watch
It’s not like I wish him pain and suffering for the heck of it

One thing I really hated about ML is the writer's intent and the truth, especially when they sound the same but they're not. Per example, the show says Marinette's love and Chat Noir's love "made them act in the worst ways." That's true. However, the writer are referring to the Felix mix-up, instead of repeated trespassing. Even then, Chat Noir was endangering lives through purposeful neglect and faced direct rejection. To say the comparison is superficial is an understatement.
It goes for a lot of things in this show:
They say Adrien is perfect, but have him do things both as Adrien and Chat that any other character (esp. Marinette) would be skewered for.
They probably think Adrien ending his friendship with Chloé in Derision is showing how much he truly cares about Marinette, but Chloe’s bullied her for the previous 4 seasons and the only times he really did anything regarding Chloé is when affected him personally, so it makes him come across as self serving.
They probably intend for Lila to look like a master manipulator, but in reality it would be easy to disprove her with as much as a simple google search and it makes everyone else in the cast look like complete idiots. (Alya not realizing Lila’s a liar after Marinette reveals her identity to her is a special level of stupid.)
They definitely think the square is peak romance when it’s actually one of the most toxic relationships I’ve ever seen and they unintentionally keep giving reasons for why they shouldn’t be together.
If I listed all the things in the show that didn’t line up with what they probably intended in their writing, we’d be here all day.

Adrichat is a funny case bc the crew loves white males more than life but don’t care about victims of abuse beyond their potential for pity fodder

It’s such a shame how much the characters have been butchered up to this point. Is it just me or am I the only who missed the start of the interesting dynamic between Marinette and Gabriel? At the end of season 2 back when Gabriel actually wanted to change himself for the better (haha remember when), he took note of Marinette’s talent for fashion and seemed very happy for her when Audrey acknowledged her, too. It would’ve been so interesting if they kept that dynamic of him knowing that Marinette is a great designer (maybe reminding him of himself in the past?) and someone worth noting (maybe also someone worth Adrien’s friendship too?). Also if they kept that dynamic through the seasons how would he feel about using her for akumitization reasons? Would he be conflicted because of the promise of this young talent or would he think that he was doing something good for his family? No, the show won’t allow us to explore the possibilities. Throw all of that out because he suddenly thinks Marinette is a horrible person and should not be around Adrien because love reasons and because she is a “nobody.”
This is the one thing in which they shoulda shamelessly ripped off spiderman and had the hero and villain form a close student/teacher bond

East Asian American here! at first, she was amazing rep for diaspora and/or mixed kids, where i really felt represented because i didn’t really speak Mandarin and felt disconnected from the cultures i have heritage in, but the thing is; i’m fifth generation whereas marinette would be considered either first or second generation (depending on where you count, i heard some people start the count at the kids and not the parents), so she doesn’t really have an excuse on why she shouldn’t know her own culture. hell, i know the basics of mandarin, so marinette should not be struggling with tones.
so basically, it really does show when white people write experiences that are clearly not their own and they didn’t ask someone to write for those experiences. i’m not saying white people can’t write people of color, i’m saying to ask people of color what their experience is or to ask them to guest write or something.
then the whole ‘adrien explains her culture’ and ‘marinette follows adrien to her mother’s home city’ plot came about and that burned any good will i had to this show
I saw a post earlier by someone who's half asian about how Marinette is actually amazing representation and it's okay that she had blue eyes because some asians do have blue eyes and I feel "conflicted" about those takes bc I've read so many posts about how Marinette is too white washed, can't speak the language or even a few simple phrases, she doesn't know anything about the culture or even cares (unless Adrien is somehow involved) while her mom is a walking stereo type. Is it fair to say a character like that is good representation if some people actually feel represented by said character? What do you think?
I think that it’s great that they’re able to relate to her but that it’s important to recognize that the crew should not get praise for it because their intent was never to make her relatable to assimilated diaspora kids, with every choice it was to make her marketable and prop up their white male lead.

I may not be a writer but I’m certain that if Zag paid me to sit in a corner of the writing room and let me ramble about how it should be done, the overarching plots would be more satisfying
