One word...CHAOS. Daily chaos on the Agreste household.
In here, Adrien is a year younger than in the Werepapas flashback. This time I tried a more colourful approach.
Nothing like drawing some smiles to heal the heart... to then BREAK IT WITH MORE ANGST AND DRAMA (saved for the next comic)

Pulled out the watercolors for the first time in a while (cuz @goatlilly has beautiful watercolor art- it only felt right).
Well- presenting fanart for Minnie Miraculous AU by @goatlilly! These kids are a riot-Marinette’s a super baby sitter, that’s for sure.

I think the Rena Rouge and Ladybug fight was really interesting because most of the Marinette salt I’ve seen has been at least somewhat based around the notion that she will not suffer any consequences for her decisions.
As if the lies she’s been telling since the beginning of the show haven’t already been eating away at her slowly, destroying her confidence in herself and challenging her interpersonal relationships. As if she isn’t a teenager trying her best to do what’s right for everybody else all of the time. She thinks she’s being selfless by not telling Adrien the truth. She’s trying to protect him because that’s what she’s good at and what she’s been encouraged to prioritize as a superhero.
Contrarily, she’s been told countless times that she’s not allowed to be fully honest with the people she loves because it would put them at risk. She’s essentially been trained to believe that lying is a necessary burden she has to take on. Alya, on the other hand, sees through all that, hence her telling her boyfriend her secret identity even though she wasn’t supposed to, making her essentially the only one who can properly knock sense into Marinette and help her come clean to Adrien about Monarch (and maybe her secret identity?)
Rena Rouge was definitley in the right but I do think it’s important to remember that Marinette lying to Adrien doesnt make her a terrible person/superhero/girlfriend, it just makes her flawed and flawed people can grow and change. Also, the responsibility to tell him should never have been hers in the first place. It’s not her fault her boyfriend’s dad was secretly a supervillain tormenting all of Paris. Not exactly the kind of news you break casually over tea.
Personally I’m just really glad the show is taking it so seriously and allowing it to be the plot point it deserves to be. I want Marinette to eventually get to a place where she can finally be honest with her loved ones so her and Adrien can BOTH heal from the trauma being Ladybug and Chat Noir has caused them.

Something I've noticed is that the show goes out of its way to portray Adrien's trauma as romantic.
In Kuro Neko, Adrien is exhibiting a trauma response wherein he invalidates his own feelings and tries to be whoever the other person wants him to be, and Catwalker is explicitly based on the mask Adrien puts on to please his abuser, which is also the persona Ladybug develops an instant crush on. What the show tells us, however, is that Adrien as Catwalker telling Ladybug that it's his own fault for being sensitive because he was hurt by her actions and following that up by promising to take care of her is romantic and wonderful.
In Strikeback, Adrien is once again downplaying his feelings and hurt in order to come to Ladybug's support because she needs him. He is once again invalidating his own hurt and absolving her of all blame. What the show tells us is that it's so romantic that Adrien was willing to push away his hurt feelings and come to her aid like a loyal partner even though she never apologized to him or promised to change her behavior.
In Protection, Adrien's tendency to want to be perfect for everybody and cater to their needs is depicted on screen, with him assuming the full blame for Marinette's confidence issues. He has a whole conversation with Kagami about how he needs to change himself for her. What the show tells us is that Adrien is so romantic and so sweet for essentially assuming blame for Marinette's inability to tell him her feelings and saying that he has to be the one to change and cater to her needs.
In Collusion, Adrien's reacting to his father sending him to London by saying "Marinette and I will last forever," is him clinging to the very little good that is going on in his life. It is him once again centering his identity around this girl and his relationship with her because he has never been allowed to be his own person. What the show tells us is that "Adrien loves Marinette so much uwu."
In Confrontation, Adrien writing "All I know is that I love Marinette Dupain Cheng," is him once more centering his whole life around his girlfriend because he has been conditioned into defining himself around other people because he has never been allowed to an individual in his own right. What the show tells us again is that Adrien loves Marinette so, so much, you guyz.
In Conformation (credit to this post by @youremarvelous), Adrien telling Plagg he's angry at himself for falling short of Marinette's love is also him downplaying his own feelings and placing more importance on her, and him believing that he has fallen short of her love stems from him belief that he has to earn love. He's just shifted from defining himself based on Gabriel's wishes to defining himself based on Marinette's wishes. What the show tells us is that Adrien is such a good boyfriend for wanting to be perfect for Marinette.
The discrepancy between what has been portrayed and what the show wants us to think is concerning, to say the least.

Everyone Loves Violence!(And Marinette)
I was just sitting around, minding my own business with my own thoughts, and then I thought of this Crack idea so now it's the problem of everyone reading this.
Ok! So! I thought of a fun little Miraculous AU where anytime Marinette does something remotely violent one of her friends catches a severe case of "I have a crush of Marinette Dupain-Cheng".
Marinette beats Adrien in a fencing duel? Kagami falls for her.
Marinette punches a crook in the face? Alya's got feelings for her.
Marinette puts Chloe in a headlock for being a little shit one too many times? Chloe herself is now in love with her!
It's a phenomenon that has Max ripping his own hair out in frustration trying to figure out how the hell it happens(That's why it's so short).
Not to mention it's so effective that Marinette has taken to showing up in civilian form during her friends' Akumas simply because their love for her instantly deakumatises them upon seeing her.
And for extra spice you can make it so Marinette is completely oblivious to all of their affections and just thinks about how great and friendly her classmates are! They're always offering to help her out with stuff and are so nice! She's so lucky to have met them!
And if someone takes this idea and turns it into a fanfic or something... Please tell me so I can laugh at my insanity being brought into reality!

I keep seeing people try to convince themselves that the ending of S5 was written to be eerie on purpose, that we're not supposed to think Gabriel is a hero, and that the writers will totally rip the rug out from underneath everyone, but "happy" endings that are actually a total horror show are a staple of Miraculous.
In The Bubbler, Marinette lets Gabriel take credit for a gift she made because, even though holding onto false hope is Adrien's fatal flaw.
In Darkblade, Tikki encourages Marinette to pile more on her plate than she can realistically deal with, because "if you want something, you have to try to make it work".
In Queen Wasp, Marinette encourages Chloé to bond with her mother, even though looking up to that trash fire of a woman is why Chloé is the way she is in the first place.
I could go on and on.
None of these things were ever framed as the wrong thing to do, and even if the writers were planning for that, the show has been on for almost a decade. A kid who was in the target audience for this show when these episodes came out will be old enough to drive by the time the writers finally get to this supposed payoff.
We have five seasons of precedent for this, not to mention the writers' own commentary on the finale.

Watching the miraculous ladybug fandom as someone who isn’t part of it is wild because like…there are four different ships that all only involve the same two people, everyone is freaking out because the OTP has confessed their love except it’s already happened 1204 times now and they are either too oblivious or get their minds wiped or some crap, no one can make up their minds about whether chloe is a good person or not, you watch as as it hits the top spot on tumblr trending because it’s the season finale but then a week later it’s trending again because of another episode and you’re confused and then you find out that practically the entire. series. is being released out of order
