Why Your Marketing Team Should Be Journalists
Tumblr media
While newsrooms are notorious for being the center of chaos, deadlines and pressure, they're also known for something else: trusted, efficient journalists. Turns out, that's just what marketing agencies lack, especially when it comes to their departmental solutions and structures. And it’s starting at the top. A startling 57 percent of CMOs have been at the helm fewer than three years, according to an analysis by Korn Ferry. CMOs stay at their employers for short stints, perhaps because employers seem to gravitate toward those with degrees in everything and anything… except marketing.
Webmasters's insight:
An interesting article that suggests that in order to #Market a good story needs to be written #MirataMarketing

Marketing campaigns that challenge
Tumblr media
Marketing campaigns that challenge In association with Shares 16 0 'In the world of social media, controversy isn't necessarily bad, because it creates conversation and debate,' says Charlotte White, global digital partner at Carat CREDIT: KACPER PEMPEL/REUTERS Amy Pay 25 SEPTEMBER 2017 • 5:00PM Powerful campaigns that challenge societal norms can be a force for change and boost brand awareness, as these examples show. There has been a recent shift in the way that some big businesses market their products and services. Rather than building campaigns that reflect society and what their consumers think and feel, this new breed of advertising uses marketing collateral to campaign, challenge ideas, raise important issues and support causes.

Tim Peterson on September 22, 2017 at 4:22 pm MORE Facebook is raising its bid for brand advertisers’ TV budgets. Why I Started My Own Agency
Everyone enjoys a challenge. Some challenge themselves to eat better or workout more often, while others push themselves to climb mountains or skydive.  The level of comfort you have with your current situation dictates how big of a risk you are willing to take. If you are in relatively good shape, you likely aren’t going to try to lose 50% of your body weight, it just doesn’t make logical sense. However, when you find yourself wanting more, sometimes the only road left to take is one that you have to create.   I had a good job, I had security, I had what most people want, a career that allowed flexibility in my time and surrounded me in an interest of mine; but it wasn’t enough.  I wanted more.  That is where the idea for Mirata Marketing was conceived.  I started my career on the marketing agency side of the desk and that was some of the most valuable time I spent in terms of shaping my future.  I was able to meet some fantastic people both inside the agency, as well as clients, but what I really got was a crash course in project management, client relations, and an intense exposure to creating things from scratch for clients that produced outstanding results.

Andrew Willshire: Focus on the short term and the long term will take care of itself
Andrew Willshire: Focus on the short term and the long term will take care of itself Despite popular opinion, a long-term marketing strategy is pointless without short-term results, but generating sustainable short-term sales will always boost long-term brand health. By Andrew Willshire 31 Aug 2017 12:24 pm One of the more regular events in marketing is the high priests descending from their mountain to condemn those humble sinners who have succumbed to the illicit temptations of short-term thinking. Like bible-thumping preachers, they warn of hellfire and damnation if we don’t change our ways. The trouble is that I’m not sure it’s making advertising better.

Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg: Digital is causing the collapse of the marketing funnel
Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg: Digital is causing the collapse of the marketing funnel Facebook’s chief operating officer suggests the growing importance of digital and mobile and the speed at which consumers can find information is causing a fundamental change in the way brands communicate. By Sarah Vizard 13 Sep 2017 4:28 pm Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg has suggested the rise of digital and mobile is leading to the collapse of the marketing funnel. Speaking at ad tech conference Dmexco in Germany today (13 September), Sandberg told delegates: “The marketing funnel itself is collapsing. It used to take time to go from research to discovery to awareness all the way to a purchase. But now you have digital and mobile that is happening faster than ever, and that is for the largest brands to the small corner shop to non-profits.
