FAVORITE MASCARA TECHNIQUE
Tutorial + Photography by Amy Nadine, Graphic Design by Eunice Chun
Yes, I’ve shared a lot of mascara application techniques over the last six (!!) years here on TBD. But this one is probably my favorite! And I can’t stop doing it. On. Everyone! It allows you to really get at the base of the lashline and stamp the roots AND it is the quickest way to flare out the lashes, including the inner and outer ones. And don’t worry; you can bend it right back so return it to the tube. If you don’t want to try it with a mascara that you splurged on, try it on a drug store beauty first until you’re hooked! Here’s how:
FAVORITE MASCARAS:
I used this Skinny Mascara ($$) because it’s a British cult favorite of mine.
I also love doing this technique with this multi-sided mascara wand ($$) (look for the numbers 1 & 2 written on each side of the handle so you know the order to use each side).
This budget-friendly favorite ($) is MADE for this technique!
**Note: For our makeup enthusiasts, this is the luxury palette ($$$) I used to smoke out her eyes in step 8. And this is a more affordable version ($)!

FESTIVAL INSPIRATION
Photos & Post by Eunice
Wearing: Dogeared Layered Necklace in Gold, Luv AJ Belt
This past weekend, I attended Coachella for some weekend fun in the desert. As you guys may already know, this festival always brings in the coolest fashion and looks. I got a chance to stop by the #WinterBumbleland party and find some of the coolest accessories and hairstyles that I was inspired by. Here are some trends I noticed during Coachella this year that I feel will set the tone for the rest of the year:
Space buns (saw lots of of these)
Glitter on the hairline
Layered jewelry
Statement belts
And as always… braids, braids, braids!
Below are some of images I snapped at the Bumble party to (hopefully) serve as festival look inspiration for the future festival-goers here! Are you attending any festivals this year? What are some of your favorite accessories or hairstyles for festival season? Please share them below!
P.S. I was so inspired to try these “space buns” myself that I actually wore this hairstyle on Day 3 and added some glitter with the help of Kristin Ess’ Hair Spray. First spray, then add glitter!
P.P.S. Grab a group of friends and layer your wrists with these adorable Dogeared “You & Me” friendship bracelets! These bracelets complement with the wristbands perfectly. << more colors are available here >>

SUPER QUICK FESTIVAL EYES
Tutorial + Photography by Amy Nadine, Graphic Design by Eunice Chun
The last thing we want is to look super made up at a festival. But it’s also the perfect occasion to rock something fun! So here are three easy and quick ways to get out of our comfort zones without looking glammed up:
METALLIC ROSE:
I used this matte metallic liquid lip stain ($$) in Happi because I couldn’t find an eyeliner in the shade I wanted.
I used this super user-friendly eyeliner brush ($$) to apply it.
OMBRE MAUVE:
I added this matte liquid lip stain ($$) in Soft Lilac on top of the metallic rose shade, using the same eyeliner brush. First I applied one coat from the halfway mark to the end of the wing, then after it dried, I added another coat to the last quarter of the wing.
SILVER FLASH:
I used this silver glitter liquid liner ($$) in Glam Rock by applying it all over the upper and bottom lids then blended it with my finger to make it more effortless.
How will you be rocking your festival look this year? I’d love to know in the comments below!

ASHLEY TISDALE + THE BEAUTY DEPARTMENT
PHOTOS + POST: KRISTIN ESS
We’re kicking off a new series on TBD and I am very excited start things off with one of my all time favorite women, Ashley Tisdale. In the last year she’s launched a new makeup line, a new website, a new music series on her youtube channel, all while creative directing at Signorelli and killing it at her own company, Blondie Girl Productions. As if she wasn’t busy enough, she’s heading to Coachella for the first time this year. I figured we should talk about those things AND create some pretty desert vibes while we’re at it.
First of all, your skin is looking pretty poreless right now. What are your current skincare favorites? Hydration – I drink two liters of water a day! I also am adamant about washing my face morning and night, I like the CETAPHIL CLEANSER, and a good eye cream, but what I learned from my dermatologist is that the less products the better.
Your new ILLUMINATE BY ASHLEY TISDALE PALETTE is stunning and I know that because I own it (I’m also excited to say that you may or may not have named one of the colors after me! OMGOMGOMG)! What’s the story behind this palette? It was one of my favorite palettes to create. I really wanted to step out of my comfort zone and do a lot more color, like purples and blues. I wanted to make sure it was different from the BEACH GODDESS and NIGHT GODDESS. When naming the eyeshadows I was inspired to name it the Goddess palette because I feel like the people who inspire me and my life are all goddesses. So of course there had to be a Kristin!
What are you listening to on repeat right now? Stay, by Zedd and Alessia Cara.
Who are you most looking forward to seeing perform at Coachella? Also have you ever been there before? This is my first time at Coachella, I’m so excited! I’m really looking forward to seeing Lady Gaga, and just taking in the entire experience.
Talk to me about your YOUTUBE CHANNEL! I love the music sessions you’ve been doing with Chris and Vanessa! I’ve known you for a little while now but I did NOT know you could sing like that! Whoa. Thank you so much! I’m having so much fun! I recently relaunched my YouTube channel and Music Sessions just came organically, because obviously my channel was launched when I was doing my albums, and knowing that my husband is a musician it just seemed so natural to do cover songs. I never expected people to love it so much, but it’s really exciting to see people enjoy it!
Current favorite blogger/youtuber? SINCERELY JULES has always been one of my favorites.
Best lip color from ILLUMINATE BY ASHLEY TISDALE on you? SKINNY DIPPING or CORAL REEF! I have matte liquid lipsticks coming soon, and I pretty much wear them all the time. I can’t wait for everyone to get their hands on them!
Best eye shadow color from ILLUMINATE BY ASHLEY TISDALE on you? I’m a big fan of rust colors, because I have brown eyes, so my favorite shade is Sammy in the GODDESS PALETTE.
What photo apps do you love? VSCO all the way!
What pair of shoes do you gravitate to the most right now? I think my style is always a bit edgy. So, I would say edgy chic.
First weekend of Coachella, second weekend or both? I’m going first weekend, so obviously, first weekend (: (I don’t think I could handle both)
ASHLEY’S LOOK 1: (HAIR) Prepped the hair with KRISTIN ESS HAIR MOUSSE on the root, KRISTIN ESS HAIR THICKENING SPRAY from middle to ends. Rough dry (no brush, just your fingers) and then add EXTENSIONS (we used 26″ in Chestnut). Give the hair some texture with subtle FLAT IRON WAVES. Add braids and embellish with leather string. (MAKEUP) Apply STONE STICKERS and add a little CLEAR LASH GLUE for extra hold. Eye color: SHELL (GODDESS PALETTE). Lip color: SKINNY DIPPING
ASHLEY’S LOOK 2: Eye color: SAMMY (GODDESS PALETTE) Lip color: TAN LINES. Add a HEART STAMP or 3!
ASHLEY’S LOOK 3: Shimmer (highlight): BEACH BUM Body bronzer: SOAKED IN SUN Lip: CORAL REEF

LASER GENESIS AT KATE SOMERVILLE
Photos + Post by Eunice
Lately, I’ve been on the hunt for a place that could help take my skin one step further to “perfection” and could really help me with my skin problems. I have oily skin and am prone to hormonal breakouts every now and then. I just really needed something to help me with my uneven skin tone and acne scarring, so last week, I visited the Kate Somerville Clinic. I’ve heard of Kate Somerville through word of mouth & via social media, so I thought I’d give this place a try! I booked an appointment and was advised (based on my skin concerns) to proceed with a Laser Genesis treatment, followed by an LED Light. I could not be happier with the experience, so read the full overview below and keep scrolling to the bottom of this post to see what my skin looked like immediately after the treatment!
More about Laser Genesis:
This treatment requires NO downtime, aka you can immediately dash over to happy hour/brunch/dinner and go about your day as you normally would! Also, this treatment was completely painless (all I felt were warm sparks of heat — which is the laser getting down into your skin and stimulating collagen production to help with reducing fine lines, pore size, scarring, or any redness).
I followed this treatment immediately with an LED Light to give my skin one more push. The LED light featured red, white, and blue lights — each specializing in different functions. Red light calms inflammation, white light promotes collagen stimulation, and blue light kills acne-causing bacteria. I sat under this light for 25 minutes.
Final Verdict:
I could not be happier with the Kate Somerville treatments. My skin was glowing immediately after the treatment. In the photo below, you can see what my skin looked like immediately after! In no way is it perfect, but I am constantly working on it, and this Laser Genesis and LED Light has helped my skin jump a mile ahead to where I want to be. Even the next morning, I could immediately tell my pore sizes were smaller and my skin looked even more radiant. Though my scars/hyper-pigmentation are still there, I believe that after a couple more series (in combination with my skincare regimen) it’ll diminish over time. The doctor recommended that I go back for a couple more series to achieve the optimal results (they normally recommend ~6 series). I can’t wait to come back for my second round to see my skin go another mile in what I hope it becomes — a more cleaner complexion. If you’re ever in the Los Angeles area, and looking for a great facial treatment, I highly recommend visiting Kate Somerville. I’m also recommending these Kate Somerville products you should check out (for my acne-prone ladies out there!):
CLARIFYING TONER
DETOX DAILY CLEANSER
ACNE TREATMENT
Have any of you tried a Laser Genesis treatment or used any Kate Somerville products? If so, I’d love to hear in the comments below!

THREE MINUTE MAKEUP
TUTORIAL + PHOTOGRAPHY BY AMY NADINE, GRAPHIC DESIGN BY EUNICE CHUN
This look is inspired by all of my French girlfriends that I visit every few years (my hubby is from France so I’m super lucky that we “have” to go back often!). You will never see a Parisian with a Kardashian-amount of makeup on, but my girlfriends still love makeup! I’m not putting them on a pedestal or saying we should look up to them… at all! I’m just appreciating their style and noticing that they don’t ever want to look overdone or like they put in too much effort. I notice when I’m around them, I tone down my makeup too without realizing I’m doing it! Anyway, let’s break it down, feature by feature!
TOOLS:
Your Favorite Kohl Eye Pencil — Use this one ($$) if you want it to stay put or this one ($) if you want it to smudge a little.
Your Favorite Fat Mascara ($$)
A Barely-There Bone Eye Shadow ($$)
A Lip Pop — I chose this Creamy Matte Lipstick ($$) in Hot because it’s matte but doesn’t look dry.
An Under-Eye Concealer that Covers and Doesn’t Crease ($$$)
Your Favorite Tinted Moisturizer ($$)
STEPS:
Apply the tinted moisturizer all over your face and neck using your fingers to blend it in.
Conceal under your eyes.
Sweep the bone eye shadow all over the lid and crease for a single wash of color.
Sneak the liner just on the middle part of the bottom lashline to frame just the eye’s color.
Coat the lashes with mascara.
Finish with the matte lipstick or a lip stain in a bright color.
Blush is optional (Emily’s cheeks were rosy enough that I didn’t need it but I personally would on myself!).

THE UNDONE BUN
Photos/Post: Kristin Ess
We love a sleek, tight bun around here but sometimes you want to ease up and go a more relaxed route, ya know? Problem is, a lot of people try to create an undone look and the hair kinda just comes undone. But I got you, my boos. There’s a secret little trick I’ve been using for the last 20 years and it has always helped me get that perfectly imperfect look with little to no effort. Every time I put one of these undone hairstyles on my IG page I get lots of “But how???” comments. Well, let me show you the easiest trick in the book…
HAIR PREP: Start by giving the hair a little hold and texture. The more texture and support the better when it comes to undone looks. We prepped Emily’s hair with THIS MOUSSE ($$) from root to middle and then THIS SEA SALT SPRAY ($$$) on wet ends. (PS: I also love THIS ONE ($) as more affordable alternative.) Rough dry the hair with no brush, just your fingers. I always use THIS BLOW DRYER which does most of the work for you.
THE TRICK: Tie a SMALL CLEAR ELASTIC ($) toward the ends of your hair and use it as your anchor. Leave out whatever amount you want to appear to have fallen out. In other words, if you want just a little bit of fall out (like this bun below), put the elastic more toward the ends of your hair. If you want it to look more like the ponytail (pictured at the bottom of this page), you’d put the elastic up a little higher, leaving out more hair. Once the elastic is in place, twist your bun and pin it in place but let the tail part drop out. Spray with a MEDIUM HOLD HAIRSPRAY ($$) for extra support!
THE POINT: You’ll use the small clear elastic as your anchor to keep the whole thing from falling apart. You still pin around the bun as you normally would but this allows you to have those pieces drop down and not have your entire bun unravel.
Here’s a look a little further back.
And here’s a photo of it when you put the elastic up higher and do the same thing.
Ugh. We need a video for this, don’t we? I think we do.

ONE SHADE, TWO FINISHES
TUTORIAL + PHOTOGRAPHY BY AMY NADINE, GRAPHIC DESIGN BY EUNICE CHUN
I love a monochromatic face because it’s harmonious and chic. But there are ways to add a little more style to it and this way is my favorite! Here’s how to pair matte and metallic finishes in the same shade:
TOOLS:
A Matte Warm Brown Eye Shadow — I used two shades (force of nature and natural beauty) from this matte eye shadow palette ($$$) but you can also try the two middle shades from the middle row of this palette ($).
A Metallic Copper or Bronze Liquid Liner for the Top Lashline — I used this one ($$$) in Golden Bronze on Lauren above but you can also try this one ($$) in Snakebite.
A Mettalic Copper or Bronze Pencil for the Bottom Lashline — I used this one ($$$) in Bronzed Garnett but love this one ($$) in Trickster.
A Terracotta Blush — I used this baked blush swirl ($$) in Tropic Hues because I’m obsessed with baked blushes!
A Peachy Nude Lip — Lauren’s wearing this one ($$) in Soho Nude.
STEPS:
Apply the lighter warm matte brown shade all over the lid and bottom lashline.
Apply the darker warm matte brown shade to the crease of the upper lid.
Line the top lashline with the metallic bronze shade. You can wing it out if you want it even more stylized.
Line the bottom lashline and inner waterline with the bronze pencil.
Coat the lashes with mascara.
Pop the cheek with the terracotta blush on either the apples or high on the cheekbone, depending on your face shape and preference.
Finish with the peachy nude lipstick.

BROWBONE WORN THREE WAYS
TUTORIAL + PHOTOGRAPHY BY AMY NADINE, GRAPHIC DESIGN BY EUNICE CHUN
The nerd in me loves breaking things down and analyzing! So today, let’s look at the browbone, narrow down the product to a light pink pencil and decide if we like it best highlighted halfway (just under the wing of the brow), the whole way (underneath the entire brow) or not at all. I’m not going to share my choice just yet but would love to hear yours!
TOOLS:
Your Favorite Brow Pencil — I love easy mechanical brow pencils like this one ($$$), this one ($) and this one ($).
Your Favorite Highlighting Pencil — I love light light pink shades like this one ($$) and this one ($).
For Those of You Who Like to Know It All — I used this eye shadow quad ($$$) in Golden Mink on Kori but you can also try this one ($). I also used this eyeliner ($$) and this mascara (on sale!).

2 MESSY BUNS IN 2 QUICK STEPS
HAIR + PHOTOS BY KRISTIN ESS
OKAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. I owe you guys one giant apology. I’ve been neglecting the TBD hair content because I was away launching a hair care line (sorry not sorry) but more on that later! So, I’m back and I’m ready to crank out some fun hair ideas for spring/summer/festival/office days/date nights/brunch/you get the point. And feel free to let me know if there are any specific looks you want me to do a tutorial on in the comments below!
BUNS! You may or may not have hopped on that whole space bun trend last year…? Wasn’t really my personal jam, but I certainly love a bun and finding fun ways to wear them. This look isn’t groundbreaking but it’s fast, playful, chic and it’s easy AF so let me show you how it’s done…
ONE: CREATE TWO MESSY PONYTAILS BEHIND YOUR SHOULDERS. MAKE SURE THEY’RE LIGHTLY TEASED AND WELL COVERED IN (my very own!!!) TEXTURE SPRAY. (SIDE NOTE: FOR A MORE SLEEK LOOK, YOU CAN SKIP THE TEXTURE SPRAY AND USE A SHINE POMADE FROM ROOT TO ENDS WHICH MAKE THE BUNS A BIT MORE HIGH-GLOSS.)
TWO: WRAP THOSE PONIES AROUND THE BASE AND SECURE WITH A LARGE BOBBYPIN AND A COUPLE OF U-PINS FOR EXTRA SECURITY AROUND THE OUTSIDE. I LOVE LETTING THESE SLIGHTLY FALL APART BEFORE SPRAYING THEM WITH HAIRSPRAY.
This looks should be quick and even hangover friendly so don’t spend too much time trying to perfect anything. Pull some little pieces out in front for a lil extra. I missed doing hair posts SO MUCH!! Happy to be back. Don’t forget to tell me what you want to see below.

TINTED LIP OIL
TUTORIAL + PHOTOGRAPHY BY AMY NADINE, GRAPHIC DESIGN BY EUNICE CHUN
Lip products are the majority of my makeup kit. I literally could save twenty pounds in the weight of my suitcase if I wasn’t so obsessed with lipstick. And I love the look of a gloss, but not a big fan of the goopiness of it. So lip oils have been my favorite discovery of the last year. And especially tinted ones! They are mega moisturizing but not sticky or thick. They’re actually really thin but equally as shiny. They are all I want to wear right now. I like to wear them over a lip liner because even though they’re tinted, they’re sheer. But when you’re looking for a sheer shine with a hint of color, wear them alone and you’ll love that too. Here’s how:
TOOLS:
A Tinted Lip Oil — I used this yummy one ($) in Misted Plum but also am obsessed with this “shaker” ($$), this trio set ($$$), this lush one ($$), this reactive one ($$) that adjusts to your own pH, and this high-shine one ($$).
Your Favorite Lip Liner — I used my all-time favorite lip pencil ($$$) but also love this one ($$) and this one ($).
STEPS:
What are your favorite lip oils so far? I’d love to hear because I am obsessed!

SKINCARE FAVES.
Photos + Post by Eunice
Hope everyone had a nice long weekend! Today I am sharing with you what’s in my skincare closet. All of these products below are ones that I highly recommend. I would not be sharing it with you if I haven’t had a positive experience with each and every one of them. Now, take a look for yourself!
Origins Face Wash – my favorite face wash EVER — it balances dry and oily skin (which I have), and smells like peppermint. I have been using this for a couple years now and am constantly restocking!
Shiseido Sunscreen – I never leave the house without applying sunscreen….ever. And this is one of my favorite sunscreens. I switch out between this or Clarins Sunscreen.
Tatcha Cleansing Oil – Cleansing oil has changed my life! This one in particular does the job and gets rid of all my makeup, without having to use a makeup wipe. If you haven’t tried cleansing oil yet, you must try this.
Clinique Moisturizing Gel – I have oily skin so this the perfect moisturizer for my skin type. I have been using this one for years.
Fresh Sugar Polish – First, this face scrub mask smells amazing. Second, this makes your face feeling SO smooth and rejuvenated.
Huxley Anti-Gravity Cream – I discovered this face cream when I went to my local Nordstrom in LA and saw a pop-up dedicated to Korean beauty — but don’t worry, you can purchase this online too! I’ve been using this a lot lately and absolutely love it. It makes my skin feel new in the morning, AND it smells amazing.
Glossier Moisturizing Mask – My roommate gifted this to me and I use it whenever my skin is dry and needs a pick-me-up. This works like MAGIC.
Caudalie Detox Oil – I apply this almost every night and it revives my skin come the morning. I can’t get enough of it and I’m ready to go on to my 3rd bottle!
Mario Badescu Face Spray – I’m sure everyone has seen this product before but the hype is real guys! I use this all the time.
Caudalie Moisturizing Toner – This moisturizing toner has been saving my life this winter. I immediately apply this after I wash my face.
Origins Renewal Serum – I apply this several times a week at night and I loveeeee. I think I just love the Origins brand in general (as you can tell in this post ha!)
Origins Rose Clay Mask – This has been one of my favorite Origins face masks (see #2 below too).
Origins Charcoal Clay Mask – So good for cleaning out your pores — this is another one of my favorite Origins mask.
Origins Night-A-Mins Cream – Can you tell I love the Origins brand? I promise this post is NOT sponsored by Origins (ha!) but this is another fave night cream (which I had to patiently wait for on backorder because it apparently is a hot-selling item…but I understand why).
Vant Instant Recovery Mask – This is a mask I picked up at the Korean Beauty pop-up in Nordstrom in LA but as I mentioned before, Nordstrom sells this online too! I used this the other day and LOVE how it made my skin feel fresh and soft.
What are some of your favorite skincare products that you use on a daily basis? I’m SO into skincare so please, please share them in the comments below!

FAVORITE HIGHLIGHTING TECHNIQUE
TUTORIAL + PHOTOGRAPHY BY AMY NADINE, GRAPHIC DESIGN BY EUNICE CHUN
I’ve noticed since Strobing became really popular, well, let’s just say people have gotten a little excited and might be overdoing it a little. This technique will prevent that from happening while still creating a gorgeous glow. Here’s how:
TOOLS:
Your Favorite Highlighting Fluid — I used this iconic one ($$$) but also love this one ($$) that doubles as an undereye brightener and this one ($) that comes with a highlighting powder.

FACE IT.
Photos and Post by Eunice
Face it, every now and then you’ll encounter days where your skin is dull, dry, and simply needs a little pick-me-up. Enter: Korean face mask sheets. Each sheet is soaked in powerful ingredients made to hydrate and elevate your skin’s health. Over the last couple of years, Korean face mask sheets have become increasingly popular, in demand, and in turn, more accessible. Nowadays, you can find face mask sheets in Sephora, Target, and even Forever 21.
Face mask sheets have become a part of my skincare routine 1-2 times a week. My mom hooked me into face mask sheets years ago. It is such an easy and simple way of hydrating and revitalizing your skin. Just wash your face thoroughly, lay in bed, and apply this face mask sheet and let it soak in for 15-20 mins. I do this before I go to bed, so by the morning my face feels fresh and hydrated.
Below are some face mask sheets I highly recommend:
Dr. Jart+ Water Replenishment Mask – used to hydrate the skin and improve redness and/or dryness
BioMiracle Vitamin C Collagen Mask – used to brighten and hydrate the skin (my mom bulk ordered a huge pack of these for me and I love, love, love this mask sheet)
Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Mask – used to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!
Peach + Lily Drench + Nourish Mask – used to hyrdrate and feed your skin vitamins and antioxidants
Leaders Aloe Soothing Mask – used to hydrate and calm/relieve tired or stressed skin
Other places I like to buy Korean face mask sheets are at The Face Shop (a Korean beauty store*) and Peach & Lily (a Korean beauty e-commerce shop).
(P.S. The face mask sheets pictured in the opening photo are from The Face Shop)
*So, The Face Shop currently does not have a US website but they have brick + mortar stores throughout the US. Some are in New York, Maryland, Virginia, California… Do a Google search to see if one is nearby you!
Have you guys used face mask sheets before? Let me know, and have a wonderful weekend!

THE LASH LOCK: NO SMEARS, NO SMUDGES
TUTORIAL + PHOTOGRAPHY BY AMY NADINE, GRAPHIC DESIGN BY EUNICE CHUN
Mascara doesn’t have to end up under your eyes, you know… it only does because we don’t wipe off the excess right before it dries! It literally takes five seconds but is so worth it. Please try it and check in the mirror in the late afternoon and see! Here’s how:

HOW TO CONTOUR YOUR JAWLINE
TUTORIAL + PHOTOGRAPHY BY AMY NADINE, GRAPHIC DESIGN BY EUNICE CHUN
I have a pretty healthy self esteem, but through the years have battled with a complex about my double chin. Especially my profile. And now that I’ve been a runner for 17 years, I have jowls too! Sigh. But I try to remind myself that there are more important issues in the world and if that’s my biggest problem, I’m doing alright! Still, don’t think I don’t contour it every day within an inch of its life! There are tricks I learned years ago in makeup school that have stayed with me. Like, when you shade your jawline, don’t sweep it along the whole area from your chin to your earlobe, because in between jowls and your chin there are already indentations that look more pronounced if shaded more. So you start where the jowls are, not at the chin, and go upward from there, then go back and double shade over just the jowls (sorry, every time I even write that word I cringe!). Then lift the chin up and shade where a double chin might hang. I didn’t use myself as a model and used a real model, but you can get the gist of the techniques.
TOOLS:
Your Favorite Bronzing Powder — I love this iconic one ($$$), this matte one ($$) and this budget-friendly one ($) because they all come with highlighting powders as well.
Your Favorite Flat-Headed Brush — I love this original first-one-to-exist rockstar ($$$), this dual-ended one ($$) and this inexpensive gem ($).

RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW
Photos and Post by Eunice
Shortly after college and entering the “real world” — aka sitting in front of a computer 5 days a week, 8 hours straight, each day — I’ve realized how important it is to take care of your body. Apart from the obvious (exercising), I’ve never really thought about treating my body to a massage until… now.
Through word of mouth from my friends, I was introduced to a boutique massage place in Los Angeles called The Now. There is an instant appeal to this place, and I feel like The Now covers a middle ground that I didn’t know existed — you don’t feel like you’re in a hole-in-the-wall or a ritzy place — but you are given a luxury-like service for a delightfully affordable price. The space is beautiful inside (verrry Instagrammable), and it is very convenient to make an appointment for you and your bestie (walk-in or reserve online). I’ve been several times now and I keep coming back for more (I get “The Now” massage for 25 mins). Each massage experience is truly unique, and one thing I love about each massage is the ambient sounds of ocean waves crashing (in my opinion, this is one of the best sounds ever). If you are in the Los Angeles area, I highly recommend checking this place out. They are located in West Hollywood, Santa Monica, and (just recently) Silverlake (I hear they’re opening another one in Studio City too…).
Now I know not everyone of you guys are in Los Angeles, so here are other ways to unwind and treat yourself!
Dr. Teal’s Epsom Salt – Personally, lavender is always the way to go for me. Not only does it smell fantastic, but it truly relaxing. Dr. Teal’s is my favorite drugstore bath salt find.
L’Occitane Exfoliating Butter – I’ve already gone through one jar and need to re-order. This smells amazing and makes your skin feel as smooth as a baby’s bottom!
Kiehl’s Lavender Bubble Bath – Lavender, again…but this time it’s a bubble bath (!!!) with a hint of sea salts and aloe. Best. Bubble. Bath. Ever.
Herbivore Botanicals Bath Salt – “CALM” is what this product is. I have other products from this brand (which I am a huge fan of) and have this on my wish list to try.
Throwing one more out here because it’s one of Kristin’s FAVES: FIG+YARROW PINK BATH SALTS — I haven’t tried this yet but Kristin has raved about these balt salts, so this is next up on my purchase list!
How do you guys unwind & take care of your body? What are your local favorite massage places in your area? Let me know below! xx Eunice
