Hi, my name is Mosab , and I’m from Gaza. Life here has been harder than I could ever imagine, but today I’m sharing my story with hope in my heart, because your kindness has already given us so much strength.

This journey hasn’t been easy. The war has taken 25 family members from us—25 beautiful souls we loved deeply. Their laughter, their presence, their love… all of it is gone, leaving behind memories that are both precious and painful. i just finished the ragpicker king

wow. what can i say. i can't believe this book is real. an actual book someone crafted in their head. the amount of planning that must have gone into the world building, foreshadowing, ties between each book, setting up future conflicts, THE PLOT TWISTS, etc. Cassandra Clare you are a legend. i am so impressed because this book shocks me with something new every thirty pages, and the plot twists aren't bad, they're believable, and sometimes you see them coming. which is more fun. it keeps you guessing and everything feels intentional.

i really enjoyed the way the book was structured with various povs that all felt important, y'know? and i love how the various plotlines are balanced, it is so well thought out.

the characters!! i love kel with all my heart. often i read books where the stakes are high but they are low to me because i don't care about the main character. not this series. not kel. kel is my baby i was fearing for him all throughout. lin was well written, too.

conor aurelian. i do like his character development, and i love kel therefore i love conor. i like how their relationship is the main foremost relationship in the series so far, so yes i was devastated at the thought of conor thinking that kel betrayed him, if only for a while.

lilibet was ok. i think she will be developed more in future books. i do like how markus, jolivet, mayesh, mariam, chana, alys -- i like how they are fleshed out but not enough to take away from the main or secondary characters

i also love the continuity in all the characters, it's like they don't go away. they are introduced for a reason.

speaking of which, silla! i'm a little disappointed we didn't see more of her, and i am honestly unsure if she will be more prominent on future books, but i hope so

elsabet belmany was a wonderful villain to introduce. i love.

jerrod, ji-an, and merren: they only get better. any scene with any of them is a good scene. also. why does andreyen only hire gay people. speaking of andreyen, OKAY. coming out with that childhood best friend I SEE you. i am so intrigued by this guy i love him.

anjelica iruvai was lovely for me. if we don't see more of her i will never recover. and i love her and laurent as of right now. it's pretty cute.

antonetta-- WOW. MY BABY. MY FAVOURITE. JESUS CHRIST THE FACT THAT SHE'S PROSPER BECK. i want to see more of her and jerrod. i want more antonetta in general. this is my wife. it's ok kel is also my wife

ok but if you have read my post about sword catcher above you would know the real shit i want to talk about. i'm going to take three fucking breaths. JOSS FALCONET. why did i say anything. i had no reason to think he might be betraying the aurelians after reading the first book. WHY DID I EVEN THINK OF THAT. and i had to suffer through 90% of the ragpicker king with the fact that he was Seven becoming more and more unavoidable. i have been thinking about him nonstop. the fact that he was my favourite character too. joss cmon you can do better that being elsabet's lackey. joss c'mon. kel said out of all the nobles he grew up with he only liked conor. AND YOU, SOMETIMES. he said, in the prologue of sword catcher, that you winked at him and he liked you immediately. conor said you treated antonetta like an equal and a friend, not an object. they keep saying nice things about you. joss please

anyway i am still not enamoured by conlin that's all. i love merren and jerrod though they are so adorable. and do not get me started on kel/ana. i giggle. and kick my feet. whenever they have a scene together. they're both so in love omgomgomg

as compared to sword catcher, i really don't know. i do think the plot was more impressive in the ragpicker king, but it was all due to skilful setup in sword catcher. truly you cannot have one without the other. sword catcher does have the advantage of a non-"evil" joss. joss,,,,,,,

i just finished sword catcher

fiirst, i would like to talk about the worldbuilding, because generally, i shy away from fantasy, and the very excellent and eloquent thing i'm going to say about the world building is that it's Good. i love the way the ragpicker king's whole business was written, the book wasn't what i expected from the sypnosis,, i have never read a cassandra clare book before,, So Yeah, it was a surprise, but a good one.

it's a lot more adult than i expected, which is on me because it is labelled an adult fantasy book. i love the normalisation of queer characters, i Like that, it's about nobility and politics, it can't Not be fruity,

i enjoyed the characters immensely, even those i didn't like at first, i just couldn't help but warm up to them. i've heard a lot of people saying that they found kel dull at first, but i really didn't mind him because his pov had a lot more political/nobility elements which i Like, but i didn't care for lin much initially, until i actually got invested in the ashkar magic lore and all that,

in short, both the protagonists were Really Great

the side characters were Everything,,, first off, JOSS, WOW, WOW, i was super worried he might be betraying house aurelian because i really like him, so we'll have to see,, antonetta is Fantastic, i really liked Lilibet's character, and i found mariam really great too, but Boy Does She Worry Me, please don't die, Please, i need her to have a bit more plot armour, Alys!! love her, Merren was a little whatever in the first scene he was in, but poisoners are so cool i just like him,, ji-an is my wife, andreyen is also my wife, i realise i haven't mentioned conor, conor is amazing, i love conor, he's My kind of character

and now i have to talk about the romance in this book,,

i can't bring myself to like conor/lin,,, it's a shame but i just. really don't like enemies to lovers, and i hate the kind of tension con and lin have, despite the fact that i love both of them very very very much,,, i've always been a childhood friends to lovers kind of person, so obviously kel/ana became my entire life. Love their dynamic, goooshhh i just,,, when antonetta calls kel kellian,,, oomg,,, kel/merren would be interesting,,, kel has kissed a lot of people,,, what a guy,,, i actually really like silla,,, but in any case i thought (read: hoped in delusion) that lin would be a lesbian,,, that said, well, i need kel and ana to be endgame, but, conlin,,, i don't really care,,

i thought the fandom would be bigger, there i said it,, but Sword Catcher IS a great book
