Sims 4 Single Parent Challenge - Part 2
If you've been follow my Sims 4 Single Parent Challenge writing, you will know that part of the idea behind the challenge is a kind of rags to riches thing. Meaning that you start with basically nothing.
This was Abby and Beatrice's apartment in the beginning. Very bare bones. You will be going with Australian rental/home owning logic with this one meaning that you're going to have to provide things like the fridge out of your starting money and you're going to have to decide if you want that fancy fridge or are you going to paying that $500 start-up fee for utilities because if you don't, you're not going to have power until you can pay your bills again!

Sims 4 Single Parent Challenge - Part 1
So if you follow me on instagram you would seen that I have been in the process of creating my own Sims 4 Challenge. I find that it is very easy to make money in the Sims 4, so the idea of this challenge is to make it as challenging as possible.
And I mean challenging. I've found extra things to pay for, there are limits on when you can do things, think you can fish anywhere? nope, go get yourself a permit and then you can get that fish you need for your dinner.
I'm not just writing this up either, I'm playing it through to make sure that it works ok because I hate it when mechanics don't work for things.
So this is the sim (or sims) that I'm using. Abby is an 18-year-old single mother and Beatrice is her infant child.
And yes, you are seeing her taking her baby to a break-in because Abby is broke as hell, and Mama needs to make her money (and up her mischief skill) somehow. No money, no daycare or nannys!
I'm currently almost done with the first quarter of this challenge (or the infant era) and so far things have been exactly what I wanted. A challenge.
When I started to write this I wanted something that was challenging as I always find that it can be really easy to make money in the Sims 4 and I'm getting the challenge that I wanted with this challenge. Having more things to pay for each week, needing to pay for groceries, and even the career path that I chose has all added to the struggle that comes with this challenge. Even things that I didn't think would be a challenge have been a challenge (like the clothes not coming out of the dryer clean).
As of the beginning of winter, Abby has managed to make it to level 4 of the criminal career, but she's finding it difficult to balance being a Mum and practicing her break-in skills. That is mainly because she has been very domestic and focused a lot on her daughters development.
Beatrice is growing beautifully having completed all the fine motor and social milestones and having only 3 left to complete on the gross motor. She's 50% done with all the firsts milestones, but I don't expect those to be all completed in order to progress once spring comes and she has to age up.
As of the first day of winter, Abby has managed to make over $5k (after some help from a long lost relative that helped to furnish the house) and shes entering the last week of her first year with $1186 in her account, with an expected $600 dollars in bills (rent, utiltieis, phone and internet, and daycare fees) about to be paid on Monday.
Overall I feel that I'm getting what I wanted and I'm working out the kinks I need to work out before I make the challenge go live.
