finally got my ass to work on my draft for this novel again & ended up in the end of it & I am still laughing how they all behave in the final fight dsufheiwhfoew like achilla being full of rage & ready to go after felice after her betrayal, but then she sees ridvan running to attack the main antagonist (who has more magic & experience than any of them mind you) with just a knife & realizes that she can't leave her idiots to their own devices fjkdshfkjhf and lysander you might ask? absolutely mia bc he is useless in a fight 😭😂

every time i listen to g.et in the water from e.pic (especially a female cover) I imagine my water guardian (achilla's best friend) going full berserk during the actual war in book 2 & i'm 🥰🥰

What if his future was right here? If there was a chance for them? If he were free? He’d struggled with a decision for so long, but now, in Ridvan’s arms, it all seemed so easy. Had he truly thought he could live without this? Had he truly thought he could just let Ridvan go? The full extend of his self-deceit hit him hard and briefly Lysander held on more tightly to Ridvan, who pulled him even closer in return. Without thinking much about it, Lysander let himself go and melt into the embrace. By now they barely moved anymore and the music wasn’t important anymore either. It was only about the two of them. And about what couldn’t be. „Would you stay? If I asked you to?“ He simply had to know. Now Ridvan really stood still. „Are you asking me, Lys?“ Yes. Of course I’m asking. I’d beg on my knees if necessary. If you just stay with me. „I don’t know.“ Ridvan pulled away and only the cold embraced the count’s son. „That’s not enough.“ No, it wasn’t. Not enough to risk that much. Lysander gathered all his courage and looked in Ridvan’s eyes, in the same pain and the same desire he felt to. In the same conflict. „I am sorry.“

Name: Mariana Elisabetta Caputo Felice Varenza

Gender: female

Occupation: former princess, later High Queen of Misaria

Felice was born as the only child and heir of the High King. Though fate had different plans: during an uprising orchestrated by Emilio Durante (Lysander's father) her parents are killed, though the infant Felice is saved.

In the chaos of those days she ends up in the hands of Tiberio Varenza, who has his own dark plans to bring down the High King & sees the perfect chance with Felice.

So she grows up in the mountains, far away from the world & only under the influence of her "father" who tells her the story of her true parent's gruesome murder to stoke her hatred for the current High King & everyone supporting him.

when they learn of a search party being sent to find the missing princess, the plan is quickly made: they will lure them to their hiding place & let them find Felice. Once back at the castle of the High King, she'll get rid of his lineage & put herself (& by default --) on the throne.

The plan works, Felice does return to the castle with Ridvan, Lysander & Achilla. But she also gains their trust, understands the deep strife in Lysander specifially & how little he actually cares about taking the throne. It takes just a bit of convincing & him learning that his father was responsible for the death of Felice's parents for a fateful decision to be made: Lysander leaves the throne to her, the rightful heir, willingly.

the group understands their mistake far too late, with Tiberio already assuming power alongside Felice, though they manage to flee from the castle & start rallying support to fight them.

meanwhile Felice, now High Queen, slowly begins to see the truth about her father & the manipulation he uses on her. And though she protects her crown against her former friends, doubt grows in her heart

there's a bit of a gap but it does end with her killing the man who used & manipulated her for years
