anyone else remember being like 13 years old and watching that scene in how to train your dragon (2010) where hiccup carefully navigates the maze of lines toothless has drawn between them without breaking or stepping on any of them and with his back to toothless and eyes shut to demonstrate how he’s willing to put total faith in him not to harm him or run away and to show humility and a desire to establish a natural bond of mutual trust instead of the arrogance to try to force toothless to submit to his will and hearing the music crescendo and fade into silence as he finally crosses the last obstacle so that they’re standing mere inches from one another, tension built on years of bad blood between their two races, so immense it’s almost like a physical barrier, separating them, and after what feels like forever toothless presses his nose gently into hiccup’s outstretched palm and it fits perfectly like it was made solely for that specific purpose, and feeling all the hairs on your neck stand up and a stifling sensation that brought actual tears to your eyes rise in your throat as it touched something profound and full of unspeakable yearning inside you

HAYMITCH
I wish I had more time (and energy) to draw Second Quarter Quell gen characters before the book release. I’m ready for my headcanons to be smashed and burn but I want to enjoy them as long as possible haha.
How are you guys?

In THG chapter 2, right after eating one of the loaves of bread Peeta gives her with her family, Katniss "crawled into bed, and fell into a dreamless sleep." This after she established in chapter 1 that ever since her father's death she "still wake(s) up screaming for him to run." This is the first instance in the book of the comfort provided by Peeta easing her nightmares and allowing her to sleep peacefully.

Misery Lark is the first FMC in a long time that I've loved unconditionally. She's so funny and a hero whether she thinks so or not. I just adore her.

Just finished re-reading the Hunger Games after like ten years.
I don’t think I’ve ever cried this much for a book in my whole life.
And it’s not because Katniss and Peeta end up together, or because the war is over and 12 is born again. It’s because the cat goes back home and Prim is not there to love him. And it’s because Katniss writes a book about the people she loved and lost. And Peeta draws their faces, so that Finnick can still smile up at them. And Annie sends them a photo, of her with his child.
And this is on books being salvation and frustration at the same time. A message for hope and forgiveness, but also warnings about humanity. And no, there is no way that life goes on the same after having finished this story.

“Ladies and gentlemen, she’s washed ashore and we can’t get her out of our minds. All the way from the salty seas of District Four, our victor of the Seventieth Annual Hunger Games, Anemone Cresta! But I think we all know her well enough to call her Annie, don’t you?”
everyone please take a moment to look and admire this beautiful annie art i commissioned from @charlunday!!! it’s so stunning, the hair, the colouring, the little details like her pearls cutting across her throat, i am in love 🥰 they’re accepting commissions right now, so run don’t walk!

I love the idea that Katniss refusing the to having children signify how dogshit the world of Panem is. It’s so horrible it deserves to die off sad and pathetically. It doesn’t deserve to grow and be passed down to future generations. There’s nothing of worth to inherit.
But the new Panem is good. There’s flowers and hope again. Maybe it’s not perfect but it’s enough to want to give it to the next generation to nurture and grow themselves. It’s enough that Katniss is willing to have children and let them live in this new Panem. It’s so lovely.

i want to see more of thg/everlark fandom obsessing over how peeta can't leave katniss here because if he dies, she will never go home and instead spend the rest of her life in the arena trying to think her way out

The Tribute , the Victor and the Mockingjay Mutt Puppet.
Hello! Peeta's artwork might look familiar cause I posted an WIP a while back (he even got a little face lift since then), but now I've finally got to finishing Katniss' matching artwork uwu (three months late lmao) <3
But i'm not done yet! Reaping Day is approaching and it lit a fire on my ass to finish the original idea for these series of portraits. Haha fingers crossed I get it done :)

thinking about the existential horror of Peeta Mellark
to be someone who experienced abuse at the hands of his parents, to have the scars and physical proof buffed away to make him palatable for Capitol society, to have even the memories of it warped and wiped away, to have anyone who knew what really happened killed in the bombings
to be terrified of small spaces and raised voices and not know if it's because of the hijacking or something else, to never fully understand the white hot fury when his children misbehave or the ice cold fear of what that might mean
of how in the end all that's left is a vague feeling and no real way of knowing, because the only ones that truly know are him and his mother, because he cannot trust himself and she is dead and gone
(of how this is the fate of all survivors - scars faded, memories lost, standing alone in the ashes of what once was)

“You could live a hundred lifetimes and never deserve that boy”
At 12-13 I 100% agreed with this. But looking back, I disagree💀 it feels wrong to punish (for lack of a better word rn) Katniss because she doesn’t show her feelings in the way Peeta does. She cared about/loved that boy and pretty much everyone knew it (I’m going off the movies here, haven’t read the books). But that doesn’t mean she had to be with him? I’m not saying that’s what Haymitch believed, but if they had been genuinely together I don’t think he would have said that. Katniss put the people she loved first, and that included Peeta. And I haven’t even addressed how her PTSD plays into everything.
I love how much Peeta loves her, and how he shows it. But I also love how Katniss loves him, and how she shows it, and that isn’t talked about enough for me personally

Still really funny that Marvel named a movie “Endgame” and sold it as the final culmination of the MCU where they killed off two main characters and retired a third and then were shocked when people started loosing interest in the MCU after that
