My feelings on "The Knight is Dess/Carol" thing

It bothers me from a writer's perspective

After 3 chapters of hearing virtually nothing about Mayor Holiday other then "she's really scary" we are inundated by the fact that she loves katanas, she has so many katanas you guys and she uses them all the time. Mayor Holiday who just so happens to have antlers just like on the the knight's helmet, you know, the knight we just fucking met last fucking night

If you were reading a book or watching a tv show about a mystery villain and suddenly there was such a blatant show of evidence, all while the story was keeping up with "ooo who could it be now", you'd feel like your intelligence as the viewer was being insulted

Then theres Dess's room.

Look at all this shit, look at it

Baseball bat, hocky puck/stick, roller skates/ice skates, flute/violin/guitar/microphone, hammer/shovel/ax...

This is a fucking shit ton of hobbies, so much so that i'm willing to bet that your first feeling upon seeing all this was "theres no way this is all for one person right?", before you mentally shoved that aside and went "oh well Dess must be a fucking super prodigy!" because I know I did

But now going back over things, somthing about this room stinks to me just as much as all that katana stuff

looking at this room, could you ever really get an idea of who Dess is? Like Noelle's room is obvious:

Girl coded (pink), neat and tidy, awards of some kind, the book on the desk hints at them being studious, likes Christmas (tinsel/lights/pine tree/christmas cactus/snow flakes)

Like obviously Dess's room screams PUNK REBEL ROCK AND ROLL FUCK YOU I DO WHAT I WANT, but all that fucking stuff jam packed in there for one teenage girl is just so jarring

Its almost as if I were the creator of a story and i wanted to obscure the true nature of a character, why not drown the reader/viewer in so much stuff that they could only conclude that character must be some kind of amazing super human (deer) who does everything under the sun!

And since this girl, who's been missing forever, is an amazing super human (deer, which traditionally have antlers) who plays every sport and must be super athletic (because why'd she have all that shit if she wasn't?) obviously the mysterious bad ass magic knight (with antlers on their helmet) our protagonists just fought must be her

and this insults me, this is the biggest misdirection of 'em all

I will tell you one thing though, you know what Dess's room makes me think of now, now that I look at it and thinking about the kind of (much nicer) mom Carol might of been before Dess disappeared?

do you think that what happened to dess made local news? did tenna have to broadcast the news of the disappearance of one of the people who watched him? what if thats how he learned about it? what if he already knew, but was still forced to broadcast it, maybe multiple times?

I had a thought a while back, and I'm not sure if people have talked about it. This could also be a reach because I have very shaky evidence to back it up, but.

We all know Dess is a musical prodigy. It's mentioned a few times in Chapter 4, and her guitar is still in the Holidays' house. There's also implications with the posters in her room that she wanted to start a band or was in a band.

Now hear me out for a bit.

Kris doesn't just know how to play the piano. They're very good at it. So good at it that, even with the soul ripped from their chest, they're still doing such an amazing job. I'm not sure how different playing the piano from an organ is, but they know how to play both instruments. Alvin I think mentions it in Chapter 1 that they would play the organ during service.

They also most likely know how to play the guitar. Tenna gave them the guitar during the rhythm game sequence. Evidence is shaky because I don't think Susie knows how to play the drums, but Tenna still gave Susie drums. But if Tenna knows Kris on an almost personal level, then that means he knows Kris is at least good with a guitar.

Kris is good with at least two instruments, and yet there is no visible musical instrument in the Dreemurr household. Maybe there's one in Toriel's room, but I don't know why she'd keep it there. But other than that, we don't see any musical instruments. We don't even see a keyboard.

But you know who does have a piano?

The Holiday Family.

They have a grand piano in their house. A piano that Kris was comfortable enough to use even though Noelle said no one has played it in a long time. And she was just outside. She and Susie definitely heard Kris play.

With all that said.

Dess must have taught Kris how to play both the piano and maybe the guitar.

Heres how I guess things went. Whenever Asriel and Kris go to the Holidays' house, she would teach Kris how to play the piano and maybe also teach them how to play the organ after church services. And whenever Dess and Noelle are in the Dreemurr household, Dess would bring her guitar and perhaps also teach Kris how to play it. And that's why Tenna knew to give Kris the guitar during the rhythm game.

And she most likely taught Kris how to play the piano because she wanted to start a band with Asriel, Kris, and maybe Noelle. Asriel was the best singer in the church choir, and as we see in Chapter 4, Noelle can also sing.

Kris most likely got their musical talent from Dess, who wanted to start a band with her sister and childhood friends.

I guess the funniest potential answer to the question of “how comes Christmas exist in both name and iconography in the Deltarune universe despite no evidence that Christianity exists and the Delta Rune Religion that serves as the dominant religion in their culture as well as a clear Christianity-equivalent still lacking some of the specific context that led to the creation of Christmas, including any sort of Christ-figure to have a Mass for?” is probably ‘the Holidays and their Christmas Obsession are mentioned in the Prophecy, Christmas and the Christmas Aesthetic developed in the Delta Rune Religion based on these mentions, thus allowing the Holidays in the present day to embrace the Aesthetic and unknowingly fulfill the Prophecy. Basically the Holidays base their aesthetic off Christmas but also the Christmas aesthetic is based on the Holidays in some weird festive combination of a Self-Fulfilling Prophecy and the Bootstrap Paradox”.

Since the Knight is probably a Holiday, i propose the idea that they represent "black ice"

Black ice is not really black, it's transparent, but it looks black of of the streets it is in

What if the black color of their body it's actually the Dark world's darkness?

The Dark worlds are made out of darkness given form, what if the Knight's body looked dark bc it is like it *filters out* the colors/forms of the stuff in the dark world?

Imagine if in a 3d enviroment, their body shows the world without any lighting if you look through it, i kinda imagine the Knight's body works like that

This would also kinda explain how the Knight can make the Shadow Crystals, the more powered up Noelle from the Weird Route can use spells to Create Ice to defend herself

So the even more powerful Roarin Knight of course could just make more "black Ice", although it's probably a hard to do spell to some degree

Altgought creating stuff from magic isn't that difficult tbh, anyone who uses magic can make stuff to some degree

Maybe the danger is in the fact is that Shadow Crystals can live outside of the Dark worlds

I think in chapter 5 that if you put the mikes together Roulx should appear and ask to join their throuple and he cant because he isint a mike then he leaves and comes back in 5 seconds in a poorly made microphone costume
