I love this example of a multi-modal text, as it tells a great story that kids could relate to through text and pictures. The pictures add more to the text, which adds a certain level of humour!

As a child, and still to this day, my favourite book was The Secret Garden, by Frances Hodgson Burnett. I would dream of exploring like Mary did, and finding my own treasured secret place. I believe that this book had an influence on my love for travel, adventure, and always trying to find the beauty and potential in things that may look a bit tired on the outside.
