WIP Wednesday - Dearly Beloved chapter 4

“He is proud of you,” Barbara said quietly, as if she had read his mind.

Jason snorted. “Some way of showing it.”

“I’m proud of you,” she tried instead.

“Yeah, well.” Jason fiddled with the back of his earring. “Where do you think I learned it from?”

“Please,” Barbara said through a laugh. “I had nothing to do with it considering you never paid attention.”

“They told us uniforms eliminated distractions…” Jason glanced over at her, setting his crooked smile firmly in place. “Guess they do have the opposite effect.”

“I never wore it to tutoring.”

Jason thought about those five months they spent in school together, how he’d always go out of his way to pass her in the hallway and Barbara would turn away from whatever she was doing just in time to smile at him over the shoulder of her blazer. He thought about the first few weeks, when he hid in the library during lunch to avoid sitting alone, and how Barbara somehow found him anyway, pulling up a chair without him asking, legs crossed in that plaid skirt and knee highs. Jason cracked bad jokes and she laughed louder than she should’ve considering, earning them a scorching glare from the librarian that made the whole thing feel sacrilege. But he’d sin again every time just to hear that sound escape her lips.

“What can I say, Barbie? You made a lasting impression.”

Because I didn’t do the thing I said I’d do and finish this before November, here’s the part I’m least likely to severely edit to make up for it and the literal months of nothing. Hope you like dinners where the meal is tension and self-deprecation with a side of oh fuck feelings.

Gonna try to do this regularly to maybe help me clear through the backlog of stuff I have but we’ll see how long I actually keep it up.

Relationship RP is difficult because on the one hand you want to take things slow and put in all the romcom tropes and the slow buildup.

But then on the other hand you want to grab a barbie doll in each hand and smash their faces together.

elves rated from most to least fuckable which is the only metric that matters

1. nightborne - take one look at the broad stance of a nightborne woman and try to tell me that she wouldnt ram you into the pillows so hard that you cant remember your own name. that aside nightborne are like, definitely into some like…high-tier like upper class bdsm if you want candle wax on your titties by a well-dressed seductress fuck a nightborne. extra bonus that your chosen nightborne would probably be a sugar momma/daddy 100%. theyd dress you in fine silks and take you to parties. no downsides to fucking a nightborne

2. void elves - does this even need explained? theyve got tentacles for hair and they fear neither death nor pain; if youre down to get filthy void elves are guaranteed down to get absolutely nasty. probably service verses cuz you dont bathe in the unfathomable energy of the furthest realms without learning to let go of material things like thinking you can only top or only bottom. super into blindfolds to emulate the pulsating constant blackness of the void. probably not great for cuddling afterwards though i think theyre clammy.

3. blood elves - they have cool lore and theyre probably pretty kinky but in sort of an inexperienced way. if the nightborne are fancy japanese rope bondage then blood elves are fuzzy handcuffs from spencers. definitely have good eggs and bad eggs but blood elf dudes are bar none the best to dominate for emotional satisfaction cuz theres no better feeling than fucking a dude into his own fuzzy blankets in plain view of his avenged sevenfold posters.

4. high elves - theyre vanilla blood elves. missionary with the lights on. best you can hope for is a good kirin tor fuck where there could be some interesting magic involved but vereesa windrunner is the most boring windrunner sister for a really good reason. best case scenario you fuck a kirin tor high elf and khadgar’s disembodied head is on the nightstand watching, if you’re into that.

5. night elves - they’re unwashed hippies and the men spend most of their time fucking asleep are you kidding me? are night elves a good lay you come into my fucking house and you ask me if night elves are good at anything like night elves are furries theyre all furries even if theyre not druids. you expect nelf women to be super sexy lesbians bc the men are always asleep but theyve all got long ass fucking nails cuz theyre tryna get closer to being mistsabers dont get fingerblasted by a nelf or youll die of internal bleeding and theyll lecture you the whole time youre dying and blizzard will burn your house down

To everyone who hasn’t set foot in a heroic yet, much less mythics.

To everyone who sees memes going around about NPCs they still haven’t even met in game yet.

To everyone who is taking the time to explore all the nooks and crannies organically, without addons to tell you where treasure chests or special items are.

To everyone whose friends are already comparing ilevels while you’re in random quest greens.

To everyone who hasn’t maxed out their professions yet.

To everyone who hasn’t explored the entire map.

To everyone who’s barely started working on rep.

To everyone who dinged 120 on one character and can’t imagine leveling an alt yet.

To everyone who hasn’t hit 120 yet on their main character.

To everyone who hasn’t even gotten the new expansion yet and is still doing Legion content.

To everyone who has only played one faction’s BFA content and is feeling left out of the other faction’s half of things.

To everyone who is trying to do the impossible and avoid spoilers.

To everyone who doesn’t have the energy or the opportunity to play as often as you’d like, and feels left behind as friends progress further and further past you.

To everyone who is feeling overwhelmed by so many new things to do all of a sudden that they don’t know where to start.

It’s okay.  Play at your own pace.  Don’t compare your progress to other people’s.  Savor the experience of new content and don’t feel obligated to rush through it.  Kul Tiras and Zandalar will still be there in a week, a month, a year from now.  Games are supposed to be fun.  Whatever you enjoy the most, do that.  If something is stressing you out, skip it for now.  Do pet battles, RP, PVP, craft, explore, do dungeons, wheel and deal on the AH, go back and do old content, roll a new alt, play a different game entirely for awhile to cleanse your palate…there’s no wrong way to play WoW.

I’m turning this into a generic roleplaying blog, and wanted to give folks a heads up on that. It’s going to be a long and probably messy process but I think it’s overdue since I’m not sure how active I’m going to be on Ersbet in the RP scene going forward, and since this is the blog that I follow everyone from, I don’t want someone being like ‘Wait, who the heck is this Ersbet person?’ when they see my name.

So over the next week or so expect to see: 1) New Layout 2) Updated Blogroll 3) Overhauled Tags 4) (Hopefully!) Lots of BFA WoW Content because I want to RP in WoW again.
