This is as cogent an argument that can be made on this topic.
On The Protests
We should view pro-immigration protests which involve the brandishing of foreign flags and the burning of American flags as not only deeply disturbing, but upside down. American Immigration is supposed to be about a desire within foreign born individuals to adopt the American way of life, and allegiance to American institutions. To the extent that this is not the case, it should not take place. That is why we have a legal immigration process. Now the American left wants us to take for granted that this is what every illegal immigrant desires. But that is an irrational belief.
Let us think logically about it for a moment. Why would a person who had no particular interest in, or allegiance to the legacy of the American nation not attempt to cross the border into the country solely in order to find work if they had no other way to feed themselves? It is logical to conclude that they would do so, and quite often. And so it is also reasonable to assume that many that have been allowed into the country indiscriminately and without any screening whatsoever, probably lack any sense of allegiance to the U.S. Does what we see in the current protests encourage or discourage this view?
If someone wants us to assume by default that American patriotism is something that is present in every native born American citizen that is one thing, but to assume that it is present by default within any inhabitant of the Earth the moment they cross the border into the United States is absurd and irresponsible. And it is also by the way disrespectful to American patriotism to treat it as something so cheap and ubiquitous.

A Pleasant Discovery
Every once in a while, I search for a new podcast or radio station to listen to. This weekend, it was a search for an orchestral (aka “Classical”) music app and as luck had it, I discovered a very interesting one. For a purist, the term “Classical” refers to music composed during a period of time, typically 1750-1820, not a complete genre of music. Launched in 1992, Classic FM is one of the…

Sunday Pipes #181
Organist Anna Lapwood presents a beginner’s guide to the organ, from stops, pedals and manuals to pipes and wind chests. Filmed at St John’s Smith Square in London – home to a magnificent organ made up of a whopping 3,574 pipes. “A Big Box of Toys” I’ve considered myself a casual student of the pipe organ since around 1983 and still managed to learn a few things from this simple, entertaining…

Maybe Just A Bit Too Much Technology
When I first saw this meme, I thought that possibly we had already crossed this threshold. A quick question to Grok confirmed my fears. *** Yes, there are apps designed to control smart toilets with features like remote flushing. For example, the Lixil Satis toilet, developed in Japan, can be controlled via an Android app, allowing users to flush remotely, adjust the seat position, and even play…

Pan Am Is Back (?)
While billionaire entrepreneurs launch futuristic rockets and Katy Perry into space, Pan Am has an eye toward the past, aiming to replicate the experience your grandparents rave about—namely, fully reclining seats, an open bar, and flight attendants in little hats. While the story tells of a Boeing 757 being the new flagship for “Pan Am”, shown is a 1970, Boeing 747-100. Small detail. Since I…

Building Bench Strength
I found this story on Althouse, a definite daily read. Here is the plan and be sure to read the actual story as it does seem prophetic as our population ages. The mayor of a city in southwest Russia, encouraged men to “sneak up on their women so that 100,000 children will be born in exactly nine months.” Here is the full story . . . and I promise you this is not from The Onion. Hey guys, how…

On History
One of the most important reasons for studying history is that virtually every stupid idea that is in vogue today has been tried before and proved disasterous before, time and again. -Dr. Thomas Sowell, via www.in-my-minds-eye-2349tumblr.com

Fifty Years Ago
The ZZ Top album Fandango! was released in June of 1975. I remember hearing it for the first time and being shocked by how full a three-person band could sound. While it was my introduction to ZZ Top, my favorite album has always been Tejas. One of the first songs I learned to play off the record was “I Heard It On The X.” This song pays tribute to a pirate radio station, from accross the US…

MOJA DROGA JA CIĘ KOCHAM
Instead of Sunday Pipes, I am sharing a dedication/reflection. Today is Father’s, Day, 2025. June 18th would have been my father’s 94th birthday. He died in 2019. Every so often his birthday and Father’s Day would be the same. Like being born on Christmas, the two occasions get blended into one celebration. June 13th was the 3rd anniversary of my mother’s death. When they were younger, they…
