technically this is more of a Miquella + Freyja headcanon question, but do you think Miquella actually cured or removed her scarlet rot? based on pretty much nothing I’ve always imagined that he can’t flat out erase it from existence but could probably ‘pause’ it or drain it from Freyja’s body and move it elsewhere, or maybe quell it with another needle, but couldn’t do so for Malenia because it’s so deeply intertwined with her physical being. I guess the simplest explanation is just “he probably used a needle” but I’m curious about your take on that situation all the same.

the descriptions of the event are pretty forthright in the means of it, saying that he both “put his lips to it” as well as “drained it”. this could be something as fairytale as a magic kiss, or as gross as him literally sucking the rot out like a snake bite, lol

it definitely doesn’t sound like the needle was in play, interestingly enough, but it also reads as if she’s definitely cured for sure. it likely was physically pulled from her body and into his, and he’s okay because he’s like. the physical manifestation of health and abundance, and all. he’s certainly able to be around his own sister and not contract anything, no?

and yeah malenia is a whole different thing entirely, being a vessel for the rot itself, and millicent being directly FROM her in some form or way. freyja’s affliction sounds like it was resigned to a single wound, and not necessarily fully coursing throughout her body; according to the preserving boluses, scarlet rot builds up slowly, so it’s likely he was able to just catch her right in time?

also, this might be from a time BEFORE miquella even made the needle, as to why it was through this means and not that. if anything his own abilities may have inspired their creation, as well as offered a framework for him to work with in forming them? shrug

so going by that, miquella was definitely in aeonia at some point after the battle, but not necessarily during. whatever that means for his timeline then anyway. but if he was one to seek her out, personally, and then save her life like that— it definitely sounds like he would’ve been acquainted with her beforehand? or he really just is a bleeding heart like that.
