Ok, so after finishing the Playful Season quest here's a list of 1.6 my theories/lore questions (but they're getting increasingly more unhinged):

Let’s start with the fact that the game is unclear which parts of Lulukko’s story/realm are REAL and which are FICTIONAL. We know they are fairytale characters, but could the book be a portal to a different dimension/time? Could a fairy like Lulukko exist sometime ago? How much of the talk about magic or curses has any impact on the Infinity Nikki’s worldbuilding/lore? After all, even if fairies like Lulukko are just fictional and bear no resemblance to the Twinmoon fairies, we saw Nikki using the magic - and even Stoneville children were her witnesses! Either way, the following theories take the story into account as at least partially real (as in, maybe Lulukko was fictional but other lore drops were not).

1. Whim = Magic

If the “magic” as Lulukko describes it is a real force in Miraland, then it seems that what the fairies use and Whim are the same thing, just that Whim is a power that’s embedded into clothes. Now that raises a few eyebrows, as we all know that Whim was something left behind by the gods after the War of Heavens. It would mean that Whim is an energy a few species - like fairies - have access to either naturally or passed down by their own god (?). The creatures like humans/Faewish Sprites/Pieceys cultivate it through styling, but 1.6 offers a possibility that there are alternative ways to do it that we have yet to discover.

2. WHAT KIND OF "SPECIAL" WISH BOTTLE??? ELABORATE PLEASE!

This is like, Aureum Vase-level of wish fulfillment, what kind of item did the kid use? Because normal Wish Bottles don’t have such intense power to bring fairytales to life, it sure wasn’t a Quick Wish Bottle, and I doubt that a kid would’ve had an exremely powerful wishing item laying around...

3. The iconic star design

One design element that appears A LOT in Infinity Nikki is this star: most notably, it often appears on our clothing, it’s on Faewish Sprites’ robes, Ethereal Stars, Radiant Prism, on books, walls etc. and now it’s on Pappetto. What could the usage of this symbol mean? Some magical/supernatural element? Perhaps a type of energy? Or Miraland as a whole? Or it may be just a design choice to give Infinity Nikki a coherent visual style.

Another curious thing about Pappetto’s design are those flowing constellations around him… But for that I will make a separate post.

4. Vines again!

This is the most interesting part of the book for me - first of all, it mentions “two moons that rose in the sky” which leads me to believe that it’s a snippet of Twinmoon Kingdom’s history. Then it goes on to describe “devil vines” that “suddenly came alive, twisting and writhing as they wrapped tightly around Lulukko, as if they were trying to bind her with them forever” - sounds familiar? It makes me wonder if the Desperate Vines and the vines described in this story are somehow connected, maybe they were part of a phenomenon that spawned across the whole Miraland, perhaps manifested differently in each region.

Funny how Nikki also used the vine imagery in this quest’s dialogue. Coincidence? (most likely but shhh)

5. Heartfelt Essence

Ok this one completely hinges on whether Lulukko’s words are true for real-Miraland fairies but knowing that Dark Essence gets amplified by negative feelings/emotions, could Whim/magic actually be a similar kind of force, just amplified by positive feelings/emotions? And while human stylists harness it through clothes, fairies have a more direct relationship with this force as it probably flows through their bodies (?) and can “feel” the impact of the positive emotions on their Whim more. And remember how the evolution drops from the Real of Breakthrough (that most probably was created by Nikki herself as it was the only one "discovered" by Tokar) are Calm Thoughts and Heartfelt Thoughts. Could they be connected to this theory too?

…Or everything is just made up for 1.6 and will never be brought up again. It would kind of suck if the 1.6 story had no significance for the lore and I hope that at least the Twinmoon Kingdom bit is true but for now I’m approaching it with a bit of distance.

Now that I think about it, “a boy makes a wish using a strange wish bottle and then gets cursed into slumber by an evil magical sheep” sure sounds like a type of story adults would make up for their children to explain the coma incidents- *gets dragged off stage*
