prompt: cal, adam, and will were triplets

canon-typical content warnings for The Path

to be fair this isn't really a prompt so much as a fully formed idea in my head.

will, adam, and cal were all brenda's children (bear with me) but they were taken away from her because the father thought she was a bad mother (like in canon in The Path)

the father joins Meyerism, can't afford to support the children himself. goes to steve meyer for guidance.

steve, who i am taking many liberties with here because i barely know the guy, comes up with a divinely inspired reason that "the three boys must be separated as a test of faith. one to be raised by a poor man, one to be raised by a rich man, and one to be raised by us, and taught the way of our movement. and when they are grown, we will see which of them is prepared for the garden" or, look, some bullshit like that.

so will is raised by a boat mechanic, and adam is raised by his father, and cal is raised by steve. and none of them know about each other.

brenda probably tries to tell cal the truth on her deathbed but we all know how well that worked out (for those who don't - cal refused to see her, and therefore missed the message that she's sorry for letting him be abused by steve meyer for years. and sarah, who was supposed to pass the message along, chose to exclude that part because she believed brenda was lying.)

and steve dies too, before he has the chance to say final words to Cal, i guess.

SO. no one knows. until Hannibal fucking Lecter sees Cal Roberts on the news and is like. "mmm, let's put a pin in this whole season 2 arc and the tension and the lying, because Will, holy shit, you have a doppleganger and this is way more interesting than whatever the fuck we were supposed to be dancing around right now"

AND WILL WATCHES THE CLIP. of cal roberts arguing with professor neill. (aka cal defending meyerism on live television, despite the fact that he's currently in the midst of recovering his suppressed memories about meyerism's founder Steve sexually abusing him for a decade of his childhood)

Will watches the clip and he can tell, immediately, that Cal Roberts is a fucking mess. A basket case. Suffering and lying and paying lip service to something he's afraid that he still believes in despite everything.

Will watches this clip, with all his empathy sensors activated, and Will says, "Absolutely the fuck not. nope. not opening that can of worms."

hannibal tries to reason with him, because hannibal is completely flummoxed that Will doesn't want to drop everything and go with Hannibal to meet his long lost twin.

But Will says no. Because his life is already fucked enough and he doesn't want to open this door. He can't accept it. This isn't his kind of crazy.

anyway, Will lasts for about 48 hours before caving because he feels Cal Roberts' anguish in his chest and he can't sleep. what else is new.

anyway so hannigram go on a road trip, abandoning S2B entirely

and blah blah blah, confronting Cal, getting into the cult, tracking down steve's journals and doing detective work together. they find out about Adam.

and then, i don't know. codependent brotherly love endgame. save cal from himself, save will because he's always at his best when he's concerned with the welfare of others. and will gets to see hannibal in action as a selfless psychiatrist for once instead of the manipulative bastard he's always been around Will

and i think hannibal would be really really good with cal and adam, that's all

if he wanted to be (which in this case i think he does? because he likes seeing will around them, giving will a family in a new and unconventional way.) (edited)

prompt: post-Digestivo Will's disordered eating recovery fic

just kind of craving a disordered eating recovery fic that focuses on one of the other characters seeing Will starving himself and staging an intervention.

It would all stem from the fact that his memories of Hannibal's cooking have ruined food for him.

It's not the cannibalism part, it's more the fact that Will feels unworthy of food, and the fact that the sensory experience of eating always triggers his memories of Hannibal, which he has been otherwise trying to suppress.

I'm really interested in a fic that lingers on the body changes, though, more than anything else. Like, changes that Will himself hasn't noticed because he tries not to think about his own body most of the time. But then [Other Character] sees Will again after a few months of radio silence, and Will looks severely underweight, with brittle hair and fingernails, and significant lethargy. So [Other Character] inserts themself into the situation and starts helping him/forcing him to put his life back together again.

And weighing him. And seeing him gain weight and muscle back to a healthy level. Like, it was never about body image so Will wouldn't be dysmorphic about gaining weight, but he definitely wouldn't like the clinical scrutiny aspect of having to measure and track the weight gain over time, feeling like a lab rat again.

What would be really cool about this prompt is the opportunity for rarepairs. Like, here's a list of characters off the top of my head who would make fascinating dynamics if they were the [other character]:

prompt: hannibal's extreme oral fixation

(this is loosely inspired by this story, which i adore but MIND THE TAGS PLEASE, its content warnings are different from the ones on this prompt)

At some point, Hannibal was castrated. Maybe this was an injury suffered in childhood, or maybe it was something Mason did to him at the farm. The point is, he has a lot of scar tissue between his legs where the nerves used to be. It's irrelevant whether Hannibal was born with a penis or a clit; whatever it was, it's mostly gone now.

He can still feel pleasure there, somewhat. Sensation is muted generally, and while penetration holds some appeal, it also can cause discomfort, because the muscle contractions pull on his scar tissue.

Over time, his center of eroticism moves to his mouth, and his tongue. They are the most sensitive parts of the human body after all. take this wherever you want to go with this, but here's my thoughts if you're interested:

i'm not picturing just a dildo. i'm picturing like a full ass, real-doll sex doll. or, even better, some kind of sci fi or magical realism verse where it's literally a human body that looks just like Will down to the finest detail, except for the fact that there's nothing going on upstairs. just a soft, pose-able doll.

i'm just… completely ensnared by the question of how Will "empathy disorder" Graham would feel about his own soulless clone. would he see himself reflected back at him? a vessel to externalize his emotions? or would it make him feel dissociated from his own body like a doll himself?

or would he just be pissed off that hannibal had the GALL to do this? and exact his revenge? idk.

also there's an opportunity for selfcest which is always hot 🤷

prompt: encephalitis!Will has a seizure during his lecture

this is a fairly toothless prompt that indulges my "human beings are generally kind" kink, which i know isn't everyone's cup of tea, and also doesn't really serve the purpose of forming, like, a plot or conflict😅but nevertheless:

Hannibal is having great fun watching Will's brain cook. But even Hannibal can't control when and how the encephalitis symptoms present.

Will has a seizure in the middle of a lecture. Not just a shaking sweating pretty seizure like we see on the show, but a real seizure--his body collapses, he loses control of his bladder, he might hit his head on the way down.

When he comes to, he's disoriented, on the floor of the lecture hall, crowded by the vaguely familiar faces of his students. The lights have been dimmed. His head is pillowed on someone's bookbag. There's a young woman speaking softly to him -- "Professor Graham, you're safe. It's a quarter past eleven and you're in the lecture hall. You've just had a seizure. Have you had a seizure before?"

and just …. yeah. the embarrassment of being vulnerable in front of a bunch of green not-quite-agents mixed with the relief and gratitude about the fact that none of them seem to be judging him for it. Will's used to raising his hackles about people treating him like a freakshow for his empathy thing… but this isn't like that at all. This is a bunch of young people responding to a medical emergency calmly and professionally. It's evident that many of them have experience with providing seizure first aid, perhaps for a friend or relative with epilepsy. Their calm attitudes help him keep a leash on the part of him that wants to panic.

They make sure he gets to the hospital in one piece, and maybe a few of them even stick around when they realize he doesn't have any family to call.

the point is like... especially with a younger professor like Will, I think these students wouldn't hesitate to drop everything and make sure he's okay. And besides, appointing themselves as Professor Graham's medical caretakers and advocates would be far more interesting than anything else they had been planning to do that day. Of course they would drive him to the hospital and talk to the doctors and keep him company; they like each other, and they like him (even if he is pretty standoffish), and they don't have anything better to be doing than this.

prompt: abigail's a ghost

so like… picture a story where everything happens like in canon post-Mizumono, and Will is hallucinating and/or daydreaming up conversations with Abigail regularly to assuage his loneliness, or because he cannot accept her death. and that's just a thing that he's dealing with.

but over time his mind seems to have less and less control over imagining what her responses might be. it's like she isn't just a projection of his fantasies… sometimes it feels like he's having a conversation with an actual separate person. "maybe i'm finally splitting down the middle," he thinks with mild amusement, because this is s3a Will, who is reckless and determined and grim as all hell. he starts to accept that he's losing control over his fantasies of Abigail the same way that he's losing his grip on his morality. he's beginning to blur with Hannibal, he thinks.

only. she touches him.

she comforts him.

with a very, very intense sort of concentration, she brings him a glass of water from across the room.

in the middle of the atlantic, she wakes him from his dozing when the weather takes a turn for the worse. she tells him where to sail to escape the storm. part of the rigging snaps and nearly decapitates him, but she catches it midair. he feels the whip of air where it almost hit him.

something like… him mumbling "i don't know if you're a ghost or if i just can't trust my perception of reality anymore."

and she points out "well, you never could before," before adding, more gently, with a spark of hope in her expression, "i think i am a ghost. but i'm honestly feeling way more alive like this than i ever did when i was breathing."

prompt: Nolan prosecutes Will's trial

Nolan prosecutes Will's trial (suspend your disbelief and pretend that one of the copycat murders happened in Manhattan's jurisdiction).

And Will and Nolan are like... estranged brothers or something.

Obviously, Nolan should recuse himself from prosecuting this case, but it's Nolan, so he won't.

He has to convince a jury that Will Graham is a monster, because that's what the evidence says. And it doesn't matter that Will won't talk to him, and it doesn't matter that the evidence doesn't seem to fit together, and it doesn't matter that Nolan still loves his brother. What matters is the law, and Nolan's professional obligation to prosecute this case to the best of his abilities.

...right?

ok i don't know exactly how to justify this but consider:

doll kink but with hannibal as the doll. there's SOMETHING here. something about sedatives and hannibal strapped down to the dolly carts in the bshci. there's something.

do you know doll kink? like. where you roleplay that someone is a real life full size sex doll. and they act all stiff and non-responsive and they move their limbs wherever you move them and they hold their position.

it's very odd. and interesting. and something about it fits the most with chilton/hannibal.

and he respects frederick's sense of style on some level, like. if he has to leave such a personal part of himself in someone else's hands at least it's someone with some minimal amount of taste.

maybe for some reason hannibal is like physically incapable of communicating or dressing himself (for some??? reason??? bear with me) but like. frederick is picking his clothes for him and talking through his thought process in what fabrics work together and how "no, of course we won't do a solid here, don't be absurd," or smth. and. frederick knows that hannibal is, despite himself, grateful? it's satisfying to hold this over him and watch him accept this level of mercy with disbelieving awe.

but anyway there's also the kinky satisfying "i get to dress you and position you how i like and then fuck you" aspect and that's hot too

prompt: will's deepthroat trauma

So this is probably post-fall, and they're disgustingly in love with each other. Will decides to put his throat goat skills to good use and suck Hannibal off nice and deep.

Unfortunately, this triggers the sense-memory of the last time he had something that deep in his throat, when Hannibal roofied him and then shoved a tube down his throat to facilitate the swallowing (and later regurgitation) of Abigail's ear.

The moment Hannibal's dick clogs his airway, Will descends into a panic attack, violently shoving Hannibal away from him and telling him (through panting, rasping breaths) to stay the fuck away.

I think this would be a vulnerable moment for Will, because he's hyperventilating and crying about remembered helplessness and how it felt to not be in control of his body, to be entirely vulnerable to Hannibal pushing things inside of him... the violation of it. But it would also be a moment of real anger and righteous disgust towards Hannibal. Like, the need to rub his nose in what he did and how he hurt Will, and does it satisfy him?? Does it satisfy him to know that Will can't even enjoy sex with him now because of the horrible ways he abused Will's trust in those early days?

Yeah. They would have an interesting fucking conversation about this one.

(thats the danger of being married to someone with a history of instinctive violent behavior who never made any therapeutic efforts to reform himself)

and will has to deal with the fact that hannibal killing the dog is hurting him more than when hannibal killed abigail 🙃 because one of those two things felt inevitable, and the other was something that hannibal was never ever supposed to have any reason to do

...i WILL say that i don't have the stomach to deal with this prompt myself, and if you write it, i'm probably emotionally not going to be able to handle it unless the dog is saved somehow (it was all a dream... the dog is magical and immortal... something like that) BUT if someone wants to write the anguish without pulling any punches, i support you in that endeavor!!

prompt: sub!hannibal, tongue torment

i was daydreaming about what sort of physical punishments would actually successfully get under Hannibal's skin and my brain went into hyperdrive.

typically Hannibal has a really high tolerance for physical pain, so it makes it difficult for me to play with him the way I want to, because the only way I can actually put him in a punishment headspace is if he's suffering Will's absence or some other form of denial. but then! then i had an idea.

because his mouth and his tongue matters so much to his experience of the world, yeah?

i still picture this as like a consensual kink thing, and i think he would get off on it. and i think they would set up limits so that there's no permanent damage, if this is in a universe where they understand the concept of limits.

but what i picture is hannibal on his knees, maybe tied up, maybe blindfolded. a spider gag holding his mouth open so he can't protect himself. and then some combination of:

a.) clothespins on his tongue until he's crying out and squirming from the discomfort

or b.) very carefully, will cuts a line down his tongue with a razor---just a tiny cut, like a papercut. and then, then he squeezes a lemon slice into hannibal's open mouth

like, make him thrash around. make him yell. i think this would be unexpectedly intense for hannibal. it's his mouth!! losing control of his mouth!! pain from his mouth!! the overwhelming taste of blood and acid!!

oh and maybe, for a finale: mouth-soaping. golly gee he would hate that. this man would drop into subspace so hard and fast. the way it would dry out his mouth and make everything taste so awful. the way he wouldn't be able to get the taste out of his mouth for hours, maybe days. accidentally swallowing suds and then suffering the resulting stomach upset. aftercare with hannibal shivering and cold and hiding his face in shame against will's stomach, burying his lingering whimpers against his skin.

i feel like hannibal generally needs a normal amount of aftercare from scenes---his high tolerance for physical pain means that the aftercare he requires is often more emotional, reassurance... and i don't think he typically drops very hard? like, sometimes will can take him apart piece by piece just by virtue of being will graham, but it's not... it's not usually the kink that does him in, it's usually the conversation surrounding the kink. degradation or just Will's wrath, the fact that it's Will, etc. but THIS thing. the tongue thing. This thing, I think he would need a lot more.

I think this would hit him harder than most kink. The mouth soaping especially.... he'd be a fucking mess. maybe even a real subdrop afterwards, maybe it's his first time dropping like that. and the fact that he's SO not in control of his body's reaction, the fact that this physical thing hit his emotions and his core so dramatically---that just compounds the drop. the realization that his walls buckled and failed under this particular stimulus---that's terrifying!

(personally i think the core of what makes this traumatic for hannibal isn't just the reminder of childhood trauma, but more the fact that he's losing control of a part of his body that is so central to his sense of control over himself. losing his sense of taste AND his ability to communicate….. that's extremely difficult for him.)

prompt: sadomasochism hannigram

okay this is two separate prompts that are both stemming from the same thought in my head: "i didn't find you attractive until the first time i saw you in pain."

option A: 'i don't find you that interesting' lasted far longer than canon. Will made it all the way to Fromage still holding Dr. Lecter at a professional distance. Hannibal was just his psychiatrist, and even then, not much of one, because Will refused to open up to him about much of anything except the concrete facts of his symptoms.

Then, at the end of Fromage, after their 'I was worried you were dead' conversation, Hannibal stands up from his chair. Putting weight on his thigh wound pulls a mewl of pain from his mouth. All the hairs stand up on the back of Will's neck.

Suddenly he finds Hannibal attractive.

option B: some kind of BDSM establishment AU, where a sub can only earn a prospective master's favor by enduring a painful punishment onstage in front of an audience, and expressing their pain in an appealing way. Will works there--his job being something like 'use his magic empathy to make sure the subs are always coherent and consenting, and alert the staff and stop the game if that ever changes'--but Will rarely is attracted to any of the subs himself, because he personally leans far more masochistic than sadistic.

Then, one night, there's a man there who holds himself differently from all the others. He takes his licks and sings for his supper like everyone else, but the tone of him is different in a way that draws Will in.

(Author's choice on what makes Hannibal special, but I was thinking it would be something like…. while most subs endure pain because it gets them off, or because they want to earn pleasure later, or because they want to be punished for a cathartic reason, or what have you… for Hannibal, the dominant delivering the blows is an irrelevant accessory. Hannibal's true adversary is himself, his own human limits--he just wants to prove to himself that he can endure anything.)

anyway, suddenly Will has found someone he needs to get his hands on 😈

i'm really horny about will utterly destroying hannibal and forcing him to reckon with the fact that his pain tolerance has real limits

"oh you think you're indestructible? you think you can just mind-over-matter your way through anything a dominant can throw at you? well, buddy, i'm not a dominant. and you and me are going to get real familiar with the frontiers of what your body can endure."

also hannibal's standard aftercare routine was always just "i would like to be left alone, please," because, since he never saw the dominant as anything but an accessory, he was always entirely uninterested in receiving reassurance or comfort from them.

okay so picture this

but instead of alana swiping at will and hannibal's relationship directly, she proposes that perhaps they could try something poly. because, after all, she cares deeply about both of them. and maybe she thinks that if she can get Will to be intimate with Hannibal, to see what it's like when Hannibal is gentle, then Will would finally accept that Hannibal is harmless

anyway, will and hannibal look at her like she's grown two heads

but uhhhhhhhhhhhhh

ANYWAY the point is, one thing leads to another, and then they kink on will's mommy and daddy issues 🙂

will's like "hmmm this is a weird situation but i'm going to go along with it because i'm a jealous bitch and i can't stand that alana is sleeping with hannibal" and then he falls into the usual behaviors that alana expects of him (a little quiet, a little bashful, vulnerable)

also hannibal would be so jealous. like he's part of this scenario of course, he's in the room. but he's realizing that alana has effortlessly tapped into a part of Will that has always been inaccessible to Hannibal.

even when will regresses around hannibal a little bit, he never regresses very far, because hannibal represents fatherhood, and will's experience with his father included much later experiences in his life. he turns into a bitter and defensive and annoyed teenager. alana tapping into his longing for his mother reaches SO much deeper into his subconscious. she peels him open and he's helpless

also, sidenote--this doesn't have to be alana, like i'm still thinking about a version of mommy!kink with bedelia... though that's of course a different dynamic, because hannibal would never cast alana in a role of authority over himself the way that he would with bedelia

but the thing i wanted to mention is that, all else being equal, i think will has a bigger mommy kink than hannibal (canonical mommy kink) lecter does

because i think hannibal was never close to his real life parents in the first place, i think he was always more independent and self-motivated and interested in caring for mischa. if anything i think he had more of a thing about Murasaki than he did about his own mother

whereas Will has issues

and i think will might mentally reduce alana to a series of traits in a way that it's impossible to do with bedelia. because alana's motivations are so simple (in that early period) and for that reason it's easy to mold her image onto his otherwise faceless fantasies.

(all the things that give alana depth are things that raise alarm bells in will's head tbh, so i get the sense that he's willfully ignoring those things when he went in for the kiss in canon)

prompt: spacedogs, where nigel puts his foot in his mouth

content warning: this whole prompt is about ableism

i've been thinking about the push and pull between needing support services and being socially aware enough to feel shame about needing support services, and how Adam's childhood might have looked.

i'm kind of craving an established relationship spacedogs fic where nigel makes some kind of unintentionally ableist comment or insinuation when he's trying to protect or defend Adam from someone else…. like, the sort of thing where he's defending adam's intelligence and personhood by drawing a line between Adam and other disabled people, shouting about how adam's not dumb, how he's genius fucking smart, and he doesn't fucking drool and he can fucking feed himself and he doesn't need to point to fucking pictures to talk--

and it's not like Nigel is trying to be an ignorant piece of shit when he's saying all of that. he's full of so much love for Adam it overflows and he's willing to throw hands about it. it's just that… for Adam, listening to Nigel say all those ignorant things is super, SUPER uncomfortable, not just for solidarity reasons, but because like! Adam wasn't always an adult! He had different support needs over the course of his life! He learned to feed himself much later than his peers, he had to have occupational therapy to get proficient with holding a spoon and fork! He had physical therapy and speech therapy! He was in special education classes! There were times when he did have to use an AAC device to talk, and there's no guarantee that he'll never have to use one again in the future!

and hearing Nigel say things like that brings up all this old and complicated embarrassment and frustration and shame and anger, which is hard to piece together and think about even without the added complication of trying to explain it to Nigel.

anyway i just think it would be a neat thing to explore with spacedogs, and i'd love for nigel to get a more nuanced picture of what Adam's life has been like, and how to be supportive of Adam without sticking his foot in his mouth. it will devastate nigel when he understands the nuance of what he said and how hurtful it was. he'll feel so clumsy and shitty and he'll make it up to adam by being so so much better about it, learning so much and changing.
