I have a condition that makes it painful to wear clothing because of the intense body aches I get, and I always feel so guilty when I have to wear a dress because it's loose and I can't handle the pain of wearing a binder or jeans. I feel so bad about it, I feel weird wearing it, I feel like I'm lying by wearing the dress instead of the binder. I hate this so much and I just feel so guilty..

I'm sorry you have to deal with that... But you know, wearing a dress doesn't make you any less of a boy. They're fashionable and very comfortable, and your comfort is important. You shouldn't make yourself suffer physically to fit what anyone else thinks a boy should dress like. If it does make you extremely dysphoric, perhaps you could try looking for some very loose-fitting pants? Pants with wide and loose legs are very fashionable right now. They even make long summer "dresses" that actually are pants at the bottom. Either way, you are absolutely a boy, and I'm sure you look downright adorable in a dress. -Mod Lestat

Thank you. Picking and choosing is something that I cannot do, due to the circumstances of our system. Trust me, if I could pick who I identify as, I would not have a majority of the kintypes that I do.

its not that hard to get away from problematic identities though, changing names is usually a good first step, and then "pushing" away those feelings of that identity, and this comes from experience because one of my sys mates identified out of her race/ability and we took these steps to get her away from that id

Speaking as someone who has a slew of personality and identity issues, I’m not going to reject the entire basis of my being because someone tells me to. This would be different if I were actually some racist slave owner as we speak? But I’m honestly just here to protect my host, who is an extremely traumatized little girl. And if she feels the most comforted, protected, and safe because I am Lestat, I am not changing that.

Yes, I’m aware of that. As the protective alter in a traumagenic system, that is still suffering from an abusive situation, I manifested as someone who my host found comfort in and would feel protected by. I obviously would not condone something as awful as slavery? And I certainly don’t think that black people are inferior to or should be ruled over by white people.

There’s really nothing I can do to change who I identify as, so feel free to unfollow if this is an issue for you.
