We've done it! Yesterday afternoon was the last payday where we recieved the full $673 from gumroad (2nd image)! The money was immediately donated to Global Giving's Coronavirus Relief Fund, as can be seen in the certificate (1st image). Sales Closed!

Hello! As of 11 AM CST on Aug. 11, sales for Under the Same Sun: A Miraculous Pandemic Relief Zine have officially closed! Thank you everyone who has supported us in any way and a huge thank you to the contributors and mod team!

Thanks to all our hard work and all you wonderful people, we managed to raise $673 dollars for Global Giving's Coronavirus Fund!! This money will help people that have lost their jobs and homes, people who have gotten the virus, the people tirelessly working on the front lines, and many more!

The next step is to randomly select and announce a winner for the giveaways, which will be done later today, so be on the lookout! After that, we will need to wait until Aug. 21 to receive the rest of the money from Gumroad, as payment is given every Friday and we only receive profits from up to the previous Friday. (sounds a little complicated, i know, but basically we won't get the sales from Aug. 7-14 until the 21st) As soon as we collect everything, we will donate it and update you all here!

i was lucky enough to participate in the @mlpandemicreliefzine​ as both an artist and writer! all proceeds from this zine will be donated to help provide relief from the coronavirus pandemic, and the zine is fulled with amazing content and also some really very good recipes so you definitely want to grab the activity book.

here’s a preview from my fic, which is about the classmates, friendship, and little traditions friend groups pick up over time:

Adrien is definitely a stranger to ‘normal.’ 

His idea of school comes from movies and anime — which yes, he takes with so many grains of salt — so he’s not exactly prepared. But he’s good at rolling with the punches.

Currently, the punches are the growing pile of things on Nathanael’s desk. Each student that enters the room stops by Nathanael’s seat to drop off a card or a small bag or, in Alix’s case, a handful of pen nibs she shapes into a little pyramid. 

Adrien is silently flipping between not understanding and panicking over not having anything to add. Even Chloé hands Sabrina a card to set down, and that’s how Adrien knows he’s really missing something.

It’s a relief when Alya leans forward and whispers, “I think I missed a memo.” 

Adrien nods. “Me too.”

At the Ends of the Earth

Here’s a preview of my piece for Under the Same Sun—the @mlpandemicreliefzine! The digital zine and activity book can be found here, with proceeds all going to GlobalGiving’s Coronavirus Relief Fund.

“Call me Chat Noir.” 

“Really scraping the bottom of the creativity barrel, are we?”

He scoffs. “Says the girl who named herself Ladybug.” 

“Hey!” She crosses her arms in front of her chest. “I became a miraculous wielder at like nine years old. I’m sure you weren’t winning any awards for imagination then either.” 

“I’ll have you know I was a brilliant nine-year-old. They still speak of my genius to this day.” 

“Lucky for you, I can’t track them down now and show them a video of you crashing into a streetlamp because you forgot how to walk.” 

“And lucky for you,” he pushes her with little force. “I can’t tattle to your parents about what a huge bully you are.” 

Her shoulders shake as she tries to hold in a laugh and she flops onto the ground, limbs sprawled out around her. 

“You could, you know,” Ladybug says. “You could know my family.” 

“What?” 

“Like I tried to show you when we first met. You could meet them. We could know each other.” 

His mouth hangs open as he stares at her uncomprehendingly. “But—I—what?” 

She sits up and rests a hand against his arm. “It’s okay if you don’t want to. I’m not trying to push you.” 

Why doesn’t he want her to know again? He thinks back on their first meeting. How his stomach was in his throat and his heart felt raw. How he’d tried to cover himself in a layer of flippant jokes and insincerity. He was alone in the world and determined to keep himself that way. Being alone meant freedom. It was permission to act without restraint, to not be hindered by rules he didn’t agree to and a life he didn’t sign up for. It was existence out from underneath someone’s thumb. 

But it was also terribly lonely. 

He’d tried to convince himself that as long as he was the one walking away, he’d never feel abandoned, never feel rejected. But that was a lie. 

He desperately wants the home Ladybug offers. The chance at being cared for and loved. The warmth of a hand on your back, guiding you through the unknown. 

“I don’t think I’m ready,” he says and she nods in understanding. “But I want to be.”
