#13 Recommended Taste House In Brunei (2)

브루나이 맛집 소개 2탄 입니다! 주관적인 생각이 많지만 제 입맛은 굉장히 보편적이기 때문에 믿으셔도 될 것 같아요 하하

  This is second series of "Recommended Taste House In Brunei"! Take note this post will be a little bit subjective. hehe

  여섯번째 맛집은 excapade 입니다! 일식집이구요 저는 주로 초밥을 많이 먹었어요. 개인적으로 추천 드리고 싶은 초밥은 크림치즈가 들어간 연어 초밥들이에요. 다른 것들도 많이 먹어봤는데 크림치즈 들어간 연어초밥이 제일 맛있어서 이걸로만 거의 시켜 먹었던 것 같네요.

  The sixth one is "Excapade". Excapde is a Japanese restaurant and I used to eat susi a lot. I'd like to recommend salmon susi with cream cheese. I think It is best one.

  일곱번째 맛집은 킬랍에 있는 colomee 집이에요. 상호명이 기억이 안나는데 현지 친구들한테 킬랍에 있는 콜로미 집이라고 하면 아마 다들 알 것이라고 생각이 듭니다. 아, 위에서 언급한 excapade 맞은편에 있어요. 저는 콜로미를 처음 먹어봤는데 우리나라 짜파게티의 매운 버전이랄까? 쫄면 같달까? 아무튼 맛있습니다. 드셔보셔요.

  The seventh one is "SW Tian". This restaurant is located in opposite of Excapade. I had never tried this one before, but it is so nice. It taste like jjol-myeon in Koera. try it.

  여덟번째 맛집은 I SAY YATTA 입니다. 개인적으로 저는 삼발소스 가라아게를 추천드리고 싶었는데 단종되었다고 하네요.. 하지만 다른 메뉴들도 맛있으니까 드셔보는걸 추천드릴게요.

  The eighth one is " I SAY YATTA". I was going to recommend "Sambal sauce garage", but the last time I checked, It has recently been discontinued. but other menu is good as well.

  아홉번째 맛집은 DAON입니다. 다온은 원리버사이드에 있는 한식당입니다. 제가 생각했을 때 제가 가본 한식당중 가장 메뉴가 많은 것 같았어요. 저는 떡볶이를 먹었었는데 진짜 맛있었어요 추천드려요. 대신 Daon의 닭강정은 비추입니다. 한국 닭강정 맛이 아니었어요..그냥 후라이드 치킨 같달까..?

  The nineth one is "Daon". Daon is a Korean restaurant at "One River Side". This is my personal opinion, Daon has the most menu among restaurants that I've been. I'd like to recommend Tteok-bokki(Stir-fried Rice Cake). but I wouldn't like to recommend dak gangjeong(Sweet and Sour Chicken). I think it is not taste like Korean food I've tried since I was growing up. it is just taste like fried-chicken.

  열번째 맛집은 제가 정말 정말 정말 추천드리고 싶은, 꼭 한번은 가보셔야 할 곳입니다. 바로 BALI PIT-STOP 입니다. 그냥..꼭 드셔보세요..모든 메뉴가 맛있어요..꼭 가주세요,..

  The last one is "Bali Pit-stop". This restaurant is an Indonesian restaurant. It is really really really great... You should go there. This restaruant is the best one I've ever tried since I arrived in here. please try it..

#12 Recommended Taste House In Brunei (1)

오늘은 제가 4개월간 교환학생 생활을 하면서 들렀던 음식점들 중 맛있었던 곳들을 소개시켜 드리려고 해요. 교환학생 분들, 유학생 분들, 그리고 한국인 관광객 분들에게 도움이 되었으면 하는 마음입니다.

  I'm going to show you guys taste restaurants that I've been to during 4 month. I'm really hoping that it would help for an exchange students and torist.

  첫 번째 맛집은 제가 거의 일주일에 한 번은 방문했었던 미추홀입니다! 거의 모든 메뉴를 먹어본 것 같은데, 개인적인 추천 메뉴는 닭갈비와 양념치킨, 간장 치킨이에요. 떡볶이 같은 경우에는 약간 만드시는 분에 따라서 맛이 좌지우지 되는 느낌인데, 닭갈비와 치킨은 언제가든지 맛있었어요. 코코넛 빙수랑 망고 빙수도 추천드립니다. 진짜 맛있어요.

  the first one is "meet U all", which is located in little soho. I feel like I went this restaurant once a week. I practically eat all foods in "meet u all", personally I'd like to recommend Dak-galbi(Spicy Stir-fried Chicken), seasoned spicy chicken and Soy sauce chicken. As for Tteok-bokki(Stir-fried Rice Cake), the taste depends on the person who makes. but Dak-galbi and chicken is always taste good. and I'd like to recommend coconut bing-su and mango bing-su. It is great for me.

  두 번째 맛집은 브루코리입니다. 브루코리는 브루나이 코리아 라는 의미이고요 한국인 사장님이 운영하시는 곳입니다. 김치찌개를 정말 추천드려요. 완벽하게 한국 가정식 맛이에요.

  second one is "Brukori". Brukori means, you know, "Brunei+Korea". A Korean is running things here. I'd like to recommend kimchi stew. It taste pretty much the same what I eat at home in Korea.

  세 번째 맛집은 판독세리왕기 입니다. 판독 세리 왕기는 체인점인데 저는 제루동에 위치한 판독 세리 왕기에 다녀왔구요. 추천 메뉴는 버터밀크치킨이에요. 저 같은 경우에는 브루나이 와서 가장 많이 먹은 음식이 버터밀크치킨이라고 해도 과언이 아닌데요. 수 많은 버터밀크치킨 중에 가장 맛있었어요. 가격대가 약간 있긴 한데 투자해서 먹을 가치가 있습니다. 일반 버터밀크치킨을 시키시기를 권해요. 계란 노른자가 위에 뿌려진 버터밀크치킨은 그렇게 맛있지 않더라구요.

  A third one is "Pandok Seri Wangi". As far as I know, Pandok seri wangi is a franchise. And I went to jerudong's. I'd like to recommend "Butter milk chicken". As for me, The food I ate the most is buttermilk chicken since I arrived in here. I think buttermilk chicken of pandok seri wangi is the best one. It is a little bit expensive but it worth. and I'd like to recommend normal buttermilk chicken because the buttermilk chicken garnished fried-york is not good,

  네 번째 맛집은 fuel’d 이에요! 뭔가 아삭 아삭 야채가 먹고 싶을 때 퓨엘만한 식당이 없는 것 같습니다. 일단 제가 직접 재료를 고를 수 있다는 것이 가장 큰 장점인 것 같구요. 어떤 재료를 넣어도 마지막에 첨가해주는 소스때문에 실패할 확률이 제로에 가깝습니다.

  Fourth one is "Fuel'd"! I used to go Fuel'd when I want to eat vegetable. the best strength is for me to be able to choose a material what I want it to be. You will be able to success whatever sauce you'll choose since every sauce is so good.

  다섯번째 맛집은 soto haji tuah 입니다. 원래 퓨엘을 가려다가 소토가 땡겨서 시도해본 식당인데 엄청 맛있더라구요. 1964년부터 장사를 했던 전통있는 식당입니다. 저는 soto hati buyah(허파)를 추천드려요. daging(소고기), ayam(닭)도 맛있지만 하티부야의 경우 쫄깃쫄깃한 맛이 있어서 순대 드실 때 폐 좋아하시는 분은 꼭 시도해보시기를 권합니다!

  Fifth one is "soto Haji Tuah". I was going to go "Fuel'd", I figured out this restaurant beside fuel'd. I tried it hehe. This restaurant started operating since 1964. I'd like to recommend "Soto Hati Buyah“. As much as Soto Daging and Soto Ayam is good as well, Hati Buyah is so chewy.

#11 Chaeyeon's birthday party!

브루나이에서 터전을 잡으신 한국분들이 채연이의 생일파티를 열어주셨어요. 사실 저는 모르는 분들이었는데 채연이 함께 가자고 제안해줘서 다녀왔습니다. 떡갈비, 김치찜, 미역국, 그리고 아이스크림 케잌까지 채연이 덕분에 배도 채우고 이야기도 많이 나누고 행복했어요.

We had a birthday party for chaeyeon in advance with Korean who live in Brunei. Actually, I don't know about them but chaeyeon asked me join with her so I went there. there were Grilled Short Rib Patties, Braised Kimchi, sea mustard soup and Icecream cake! I was so happy to have it all..Thank you for chaeyeaon.

11월 5일에는 생일파티를 열어줬어요! 제가 브루나이에 도착한 이후로 저한테 가장 많은 도움을 준 친구여서 잘 챙겨주고 싶었답니다. 하지만 여러분들도 아시다시피 저에게는 차가 없기 때문에, 지난주 수요일에 유엔에게 연락해서 부탁을 했습니다. 수업 끝나고 만나서 자야로 이동을 했는데요. 채연이가 원래 갖고싶다고 했었던 바나나 인형이 없어서 곰돌이 인형으로 대체했습니다. 가격은 귀여운만큼 비싸더라구요. 그래도 채연이가 좋아할 것 같아서 하나 장만 했습니다. 생일 축하 모자도 사고, 케이크도 샀어요. 원래 미니언즈 케이크를 사고 싶었는데 유엔이 그걸 사려면 예약을 해야만 한다고 말하더군요. 그래서 다른 케이크로 대체했습니다.

    And we had a real birthday party on 5th, November. she is a friend who has been helping me since I arrived in Brunei. So I wanted to send my heart to her. You know, However, I don't have a car. I asked a favor of my friend yuen to buy chaeyeon's gifts. she said she can go with me on 4, November. next day, we headed for Jaya, Rimba. I was going to buy banana doll what she talked she wanted to buy, there was no banana doll. so I replaced it bear doll. It was a little bit expensive as much as it is cute. but..you know...a cute thing is the best thing in the world. so I understood the price tag. we bought a party hat and cake of the 'bakery culture'. I was going to buy minions cake, but yuen told me it is needed to be reservated so I replaced it chocolate cake.

유엔한테는 너무 고마워서 점심을 사줬습니다. ‘chicken rice' 라는 가게인데 닭요리 전문점입니다. 저는 바비큐 닭밥을 먹었고, 유엔은 삶은 닭밥을 먹었습니다. 저번에 채연이랑도 한번 온적이 있었는데 그때도 맛있게 먹었던 기억이 있네요. 유엔은 저를 도와준 다음날 한국어 프레젠테이션이 있다고 해서 스크립트를 보여주더라구요. 그래서 한국어 문법을 조금 고쳐줬습니다. 그런데 거의 고칠 것이 없을 정도로 완벽한 문장이 많아서 감탄했습니다. 유엔의 경우에는 차이니즈 브루나이언이고 말레이어, 중국어, 영어 그리고 한국어까지 4개국어를 구사하는 친구입니다. 정말 멋있어요. 저는 한국어도 제대로 못하고 영어도 못하고 0개국인데.. 브루나이언들 너무 부럽습니다.

    I was so grateful to the Yuen so I treated her to lunch. It was restaurant called "chicken rice". I had barbecue-chicken rice, and Yuen had roasted-chicken rice. I 've been to here with Chaeyeon a several weeks ago. I remember eating it deliciously. Yuen showed me the script for presentation of Korea class. She said it'll start tomorrow, So I fixed a Korean grammar a little. But there were so many perfect sentences that don't need to be fixed. I admired it. As for Yuen, she is a Chinese Bruneian, so speaks four languages - Malay, Chinese, English and even Korean. It's so cool. I am not good at Korean although I'm Korean and I am not good at English as well... I'm not language person. I envy Bruneians.

    유엔에게 한국어를 잘하는 비결이 뭐냐고 물으니 한국 드라마를 엄청 많이 봤다고 하더라구요. 핸드폰에는 한국어로 된 노래가 3000개나 있대요. 정말 깜짝 놀랐습니다. 사실 저도 미국드라마 영국드라마를 한국에서 많이 봤는데 내용에만 집중하고 영어에는 집중하지 않아서 영어실력이 하나도 늘지 않은 것이 아닌가 싶어요. 

가격은 둘이 합쳐서 10달러 정도가 나왔구요. 맛있는 한끼를 같이 먹은 것 같아서 기분이 좋았습니다.

    When I asked Yuen what's the secret to being good at Korean, she said she watched a lot of Korean dramas since she was growing up. There were 3,000 Korean songs on her phone. I was so surprised. Actually, I watched many American dramas and British dramas when I was in Korea as well. But my English has not improved even so far because I only focused on the content of a drama and didn't concentrate on English.

    The price was about 10 dollars. I was happy because we had a delicious meal together.

    문제는 케이크랑 선물을 사고 편지지를 사는 것을 깜빡했다는 사실입니다..다른 친구들한테 또 부탁하자니 시험 2주전이기도 하고, 과제도 너무 많고, 제가 폐가 될까봐 그냥 집에 있는 스케치북으로 편지를 썼습니다. 브루나이에 대중교통이 얼른 생겼으면 좋겠어요.

    But I realized I forgot to buy a letter for her when I arrived in the dormitory. I wasn't able to ask a favor of other friends since UBD students have a lot fo assignments in this week. so I didn't want me to bother them so I had made up my mind to write on sketch book. I'm really hoping that there will be more transpotation in Brunei.

    생일 당일에는 유엔이 어머니가 직접 만드신 미역국을 채연이에게 선물해주었습니다. 한국에서는 생일에 미역국을 먹는게 전통이에요. 유엔의 할머니께서 한국에 왔을 때 건미역을 사셔서 그걸로 만들어주셨다고 하더라구요. 너무 너무 맛있고 감동이었어요. 유엔은 천사가 틀림없어요.

    Yuen sent sea mustard soup made by yuen's mom to chaeyeon on the very day. It is tradition for Korean to eat sea mustard soup on birthday. As far as I heard, Yuen's grandmother bought dried-sea mustard from Korea a years ago, and Yuen's mom used it for soup. it was so touched.. yuen is pretty much the same an angel.

     저는 기숙사를 혼자 써서 제 방을 생일파티 장소로 정하고 깜짝 파티를 준비했습니다. 채연이가 좋아해줘서 다행이었어요. 파티를 끝낸 다음에는 리틀 오드리��� 이동해서 저녁식사를 했습니다. 킬랍에 위치한 리틀 오드리는 분위기가 정말 좋아요. 파스타와 샐러드, 치킨도 다 맛있구요. 가격대가 조금 있긴 한데 여행이든 유학이든 브루나이에 오시면 한번 꼭 와보시길 권해드리고 싶어요.

    We prepared a party for chaeyeon in my room because I use my room alone. I was thankfully since she looked like happy. after finishing party, we headed for little audrey's in Kuilap. the atmosphere in little audrey's is very great. and all the cuisine were delicious. I thought it is a little bit expensive but if you are an exchange student or tourist, I hope you to visit this restaurant.

#10 Tutong & Yuen's house

I've been to TUTONG this week! Tutong is another district in Brunei, It takes a 40-50 minutes from Bandar I stay. Yuen, KCC member, invites me and chaeyeon so we spent a time with enjoying. (Love U Yuen.)

이번 주에 투통을 갔다왔어요! 투통은 제가 머물고 있는 반다르에서 40-50분 정도 거리에 위치한 브루나이의 도시입니다. KCC 멤버인 유엔이 저와 채연이를 집으로 초대해줘서 아주 즐거운 시간을 보내고 왔답니다. (유엔 사랑해 ♡)

This is for the first time for me to go to a foreign friend's house, so I was so excited. I wouldn't have had this experience without Yuen. Actually, I had two chances to go to Tutong. UBD's student council organizes a variety of events before the Mid-Term Week. There was an event in September to visit Tutong Beach all international students together. I couldn't go there because I had an appointment. There was an event to go to Tutong in Malay class as well by bus. The exchange students have a chance to visit other district of Brunei at any time, so I hope you participate. In my case,I wasn't able to go because of my buisness. So I was so glad and thankful for this opportunity.

외국인 친구네 집에 가보는 것은 이번이 처음이라서 너무 설렜어요. 유엔이 아니었다면 이런 경험은 해볼 수 없었을 거에요. 사실 투통에 갈 기회가 두 번정도 있기는 했어요. UBD의 학생회는 미드텀 위크 전에 다양한 행사를 주관합니다. 9월달에 투통 비치를 다같이 방문하는 행사가 있었는데 저는 그 때 약속이 있어서 못 갔고, 말레이 클래스에서도 버스를 대절해서 투통을 방문하는 이벤트가 있었습니다. 교환학생분들은 언제든지 다른 지역으로도 가볼 수 있는 기회가 학교에서 있으니까 꼭 참여하시길 바래요. 저 같은 경우는 둘 다 사정상 가지 못했습니다. 그래서 이번 기회가 너무 반갑고 고마웠어요.

Tada-! these pictures are cuisines from yuen's mother. pork, dumpling, duck, kangkong and cendol jakarta! I feel like I was in grandmother's house in Korea hehe. I don't think It might have been comfortable for them since we are foreigners, however, they looked like considering us a daughter. so I was very thankful for Yuen and Yuen's family.  

짜짠-! 유엔의 어머니께서 직접 해주신 요리들입니다. 돼지고기 수육, 만두, 오리고기 구이, 캉콩 그리고 첸돌 자카르타까지! 꼭 명절에 할머니 댁에 방문해서 실컷 먹고 온 기분이었어요. 어떻게 보면 외국인인 저희들이 불편하실 수도 있었을텐데 따뜻하게 맞아주셔서 너무나 감사했습니다.

Personally, I find it delicious kangkong since I arrived in Brunei. and cendol jakarta is really nice drink. my friend said kangkong is water spinach. and cendol jakarta is a drink which mixes jelly which has a jelly texture, corn, and red bean. it was so so so great.

개인적으로 브루나이 와서 진짜 맛있게 먹은 가정식은 캉콩인 것 같아요. 그리고 첸돌 자카르타도 진짜 너무 맛있는 음료구요. 캉콩은 한국의 시금치와 비슷하구요. 첸돌 자카르타는 첸돌이라는 젤리와 비슷한 식감의 재료와 팥, 옥수수, 그리고 달콤한 이름모를 액체를 부어서 만드는 음식입니다. 진짜 맛있어요. 

There is mango tree in the front yard of yuen's house as if Koreans have a persimmon tree in the house. As for me, I don't like persimmon, so I wanted to change persimmon tree to the mango tree. and Yuen's family has 4 dogs, Jack, shasha, jjaoppuddien, kangeroo. I was scared to see them at first, but they turned to be out so cute. in most cases, a big dog in Korea used to be tied with their house. It looked like they are free and happy because they were able to go everywhere they want since they are not tied up.

한국에서 감나무를 키우듯, 유엔네집은 망고나무가 마당에 있���라구요. 개인적으로 제가 감을 별로 좋아하지 않아서 망고나무랑 감나무를 바꾸고 싶더군요. 마당에는 강아지들을 키우고 있었어요. 4마리나 되는 강아지가 있었습니다. 처음에는 몸집이 다들 커서 조금 겁먹었었는데 생긴것과는 달리 너무 너무 귀여웠어요. 한국에서는 큰 강아지들의 경우 묶어놓고 키우는 경우가 많은데 여기에서는 다들 자유롭게 해변이고 들판이고 뛰어다니는 모습을 보니까 행복해보이더라구요.

아점을 먹고 난 뒤 유엔의 방을 구경했습니다. 유엔은 워너원이라는 한국의 아이돌 팬인데요, 부채부터 시작해서 슬로건, 앨범, DVD 등 엄청나게 많은 굿즈들을 보게되었습니다. 유엔은 특히 옹성우라는 워너원 멤버를 좋아하는데 저도 대학교 1학년 때 좋아하던 멤버여서 유엔에게 동질감을 느꼈습니다. 심지어 2학년 때에는 워너원이 저희 학교에 깜짝 이벤트로 찾아와서 실제로 본 적도 있습니다. 그 때 느꼈던 건 잘생긴게 최고라는거...? 유엔이 워너원을 좋아하는 게 이해가 갑니다. 하지만 워너원은 프로젝트 그룹이라 이번년도 초에 해체했다고 하더라구요.

    After eating brunch, I looked around Yuen's room. Yuen is a fan of Korean Idol called "Wanna One", and we've seen a lot of fans goods including slogans, albums, and DVDs. Yuen especially likes  Ong Seong-woo, the member of Wanna One. Actually, I also liked him when I was a freshman in university, so I felt a sense of homogeneity with Yuen. When I was a sophomore, Wanna One even came to my university as a surprise event, and I saw them face to face. What I felt at that time was that good looks are the best in the world. I understand why Yuen likes Wanna One. But I heard that Wanna One was disbanded earlier this year because they were a project group.

    팬 물품들을 살펴본 다음에는 옹성우가 출연하는 한국 드라마 열 여덟의 순간을 같이 보았습니다. 열여덟의 순간은 고등학교에서 벌어지는 학생들간의 사랑, 우정, 입시 스트레스를 그린 드라마인데요 너무 재미있어서 당황했어요. 일단 열 여덟의 순간은 1화까지만 보고 어쩌다 마주친 하루라는 요즘 한국에서 인기인 드라마도 함께 감상했습니다. 만화 속 주인공들이 자아를 가진다는 독특한 소재의 드라마였어요. 사실 저는 한국에서 한국드라마를 잘 보지 않는 편이었는데, 브루나이와서는 현지 친구들이랑 친해지기 위해서 많이 봤던 것 같아요. 공통점이 있어야 친해지기 편하니까요.

    After looking at fans goods we watched "Moment of Eighteen", which is a Korean drama starring Ong Sung-woo. "Moment of Eighteen" is a drama about love, friendship, and the stress of entrance exams among students in school. I found it really interesting because there are many actors and actress that I like. I watched the first episode of "Moment of Eighteen" and watched the drama named of "Extraordinary You" that is popular in Korea these days. It was a unique drama that the characters in the cartoon have egos. Actually, I didn't used to watch Korean dramas well when I was in Korea, but I watched them a lot to get along with my local friends since I arrived in Brunei. we need something in common to be close to each other. hehe

    we was able to see Ocean view because Yuen's house is nearby tutong beach(pantai). we had a lot of pictures from beach. so excited. scenery was so beautiful but there were no people. As for Korea, sometimes It would be better for you to take a rest at home rather that going some beautiful place, becuas there always are so many people. but I found it many places to spend time relaxing without crowds in Brunei. It is good for me.

유엔의 집은 투통해변 근처에 위치해 있어서 쉽게 바다의 경치를 볼 수 있었습니다. 오랜만에 온 바다라서 너무 즐거웠어요. 경치가 아름다운데 사람이 없어서 유엔이랑 저 그리고 채연이 셋이서 사진도 찍고 신나게 놀다 왔습니다. 한국 같은 경우는 예쁜 장소에는 사람이 너무 많아서 차라리 집에서 쉬는게 더 낫다는 생각이 들 때가 많은데 브루나이는 대체로 한적한 장소가 많아서 너무 좋아요. 여유롭구요.

Yuen's mother made us colo-mee for dinner. she told me, a lot of the time, she get material from Miri. cheapy and tasty.. It was different from red colomee which I had last week. red one is a little bit spicy and sweet, colomee from yuen's mom was so light.

저녁에는 어머니께서 직접 요리해주신 콜로미를 먹고 왔어요. 대부분의 식재료는 말레이시아 미리에서 구해오시는 것 같았어요. 가격도 저렴하고 맛도 좋고.. 일석이조랄까...지난주에 먹었던 붉은색 콜로미와는 맛이 완전히 달랐는데, 붉은색 콜로미가 매콤달콤한 맛이었다면, 유엔의 어머니께서 해주신 만두 콜로미는 담백했어요.

    Before the final exam, I decided to go to Yuen's house one more time during Revision Week. UBD gives midterm week and revision week before the final exam. I think it's so very convenient that I can prepare for the exam without going to class. Yuen said it would be okay for her to let us sleep at her home. so I'm going to bring my assignments to her house with Chaeyeon. I'm glad Tutong isn't as far away as I thought. Other Brunei areas such as KB and LABI would be great to visit during Revision Week, but I'm not sure if there's anyone who give me a ride there.

    기말고사 전 리비전 위크때 한 번 더 유엔네 집에 가기로 했어요. UBD는 한국학교와는 다르게 중간고사가 없고 중간고사 기간에 일주일 방학을 주고, 기말고사 전에 일주일 방학을 줍니다. 개인적으로 수업에 가지 않고 시험을 준비할 수 있다는 점이 굉장히 편리한 것 같아요. 유엔이 집에서 하루 자고 가도 된다고 해서 채연과 시험 공부를 가지고 갈 생각입니다. 투통이 생각보다 그렇게 멀지 않아서 다행이에요. #9 The last event and dinner with KCC

  I participated the last KCC event yesterday! We watched the Korean movie "The Divine Fury" as a event! The movie was running in Lecture room 2. me and my friend weren't able to watch the beginning of the movie becuase we were late, but we were able to understand haha. the movie is so...interesting haha. I can't tell you guys about detailed story because it'll make you disturb watching movie later on. but, umm, I just want to tell you Seo-joon's fire fist will make you impressed.

  KCC 친구들과 마지막 이벤트를 진행했어요! 마지막 이벤트로 다 같이 한국 영화 ‘사자’를 봤습니다. 영화 상영은 Lecture 2에서 진행됐어요. 저랑 친구는 약간 늦게 들어가서 앞부분 내용을 못봤는데, 영화가 아주...신박했습니다. 스포가 될 것 같아서 영화 내용을 말씀 드릴 수는 없지만, 음, 박서준의 불주먹(?)이 아주 강렬한 인상을 남길거라는거..정도는 말씀드리고 싶네요..

We had a dinner in Pandok Seri Wangi after watching movie! Thank you for giving us a ride from the core to Jerudong, Yuen! (As you may have already known if you find some information for preparing exchange student or tourist, There are practically no transport in Brunei. so we usually have to ask a favor of your friend to give you a drive whenever you want to go some place. It is so..sorry for our friend and unconvenient for us. When you're searching for Brunei exchange student, Take note!)

이벤트가 끝나고 다 같이 판독 세리 왕기에서 저녁식사를 가졌습니다. 제루동까지 태워준 유엔 너무 고마웡! (브루나이는 대중교통이 거의 없다시피 하기 때문에 친구들 도움을 받는 경우가 정말 많습니다. 하지만 부탁 할 때마다 조금..때로는 많이 미안하다는 거.. 교환학생분들은 참고하셔요..ㅎㅎ)

I ordered Butter milk chicken, fried rice, and Cendol Jakarta. and we talked and took selfies each other and say good bye . I can't believe it's already October, I feel like it was only yesterday when I arrived here..

버터밀크치킨, 캉콩, 볶음밥에 첸돌 자카르타라는 음료수를 시켰구요. (콘톨 자카르타 존맛탱) 다 같이 밥먹고 이야기 나누고 헤어졌네요. 벌써 10월 말이라는게 믿기지가 않아요. 저 여기 도착한게 엊그제 같은데..

    Since it's the last time, I want to summarize my experience from KCC. In the beginning of the semester, there were events that refer to Korean entertainment programs such as "the Running Man" and "the Star Golden Bell". I was a little bit sad that I couldn't participate in these games. I'll simply let you a rule of running man game. In the case of a running man game, the first thing you have to do is dividing the teams. and if you take off the name tag on the opponent's back, you win the game.

이제 마지막이니까 KCC에서 활동했던 걸 간략하게 정리해보고 싶어요. 일단 초반에는 런닝맨 게임, 스타골든벨 게임 같은 한국 예능을 차용한 이벤트들이 있었는데 그곳에 참여하지 못한게 조금 아쉬웠어요. 런닝맨 게임 같은 경우에는 팀을 나누어서 상대편의 등에 붙어있는 이름표를 떼면 승리하는 게임이에요.

    For Star Golden Bell games, it was a popular program when I was in elementary school. Considering that the students who are currently attending UBD were born in 2000, it was an amazing experience for me that they know  about games like Star Golden Bell. Because I remember Star Golden Bell being broadcasted in 2006.

    스타골든벨 게임 같은 경우에는 제가 초등학교 때 유행했던 프로그램인데요. 일종의 박자게임이라고 생각하시면 될 것 같아요. 지금 UBD 재학중인 학생들이 2000년 생들이라는 걸 감안하면 친구들이 스타골든벨 같은 게임을 알고 있는 것이 저한테는 놀라운 경험이었어요. 왜냐하면 스타골든벨은 2006년에 방영되었던 걸로 기억하거든요.

In the case of Chuseok event, it was nice to have a lot of Korean food such as Songpyeon given by Professor Yoon who teaches Korean and Tteokbokki served by a friend who works at Michu Hall in a Korean restaurant. In WWW Week, I realized that there are so many people interested in Korea. If you want to come Brunei as a exchange student next time, I sincerely recommend you to participate in KCC activities.

추석 이벤트 같은 경우에는 한국어 강좌를 하시는 윤 교수님 께서 주신 송편과 한식당 미추홀에서 일하는 친구가 공수해온 떡볶이 등 많은 한식을 먹을 수 있어서 좋았어요. WWW 위크 같은 경우에는 한국에 관심이 많은 사람들이 정말 많구나 하는 것을 새삼 깨닫게 되는 시간이었어요. 다음에 오시는 한국 교환학생 분이 있다면 KCC 활동을 하시는 걸 진심으로 추천드립니다. KCC 멤버들 다들 너무 고마웠어요!

#8 The day dropped by MIRI

말레이시아 미리를 갔다왔어요. 사실 완벽하게 미리에서 머물다 온 것은 아니고, 국경을 넘은 정도입니다. 브루나이와 말레이시아는 국경이 접해있기 때문에 차로 국경을 넘을 수 있습니다. 일단 차로 넘어갈 때에는 허가증 같은 것을 프린트해서 가야합니다. 또한 여권도 필요하구요. 반다르에서 보더까지 30분 정도 걸렸던 것 같아요. 새삼 저에게는 굉장히 재미있는 경험이었습니다 왜냐하면 보통 나라와 나라 사이를 이동하는 방법이 저에게는 비행기로 가는 방법 뿐이었으니까요.

  I went to Miri, Malaysia. Actually, I didn't stay in Miri perfectly, but I just crossed the border. We can cross between Brunei and Malaysia by car because they are bordered. If you want to cross the border by car, you have to print out a permit or something. you also need a passport. I think it took me about 30 minutes from Bandar to the boarder. It was a very interesting experience for me, because the only way to cross the border between a country for me was to fly so far.

  사실 말레이시아와 브루나이는 문화적으로 굉장히 동질적이어서 다른 나라에 왔다는 생각이 잘 체감이 되지는 않았습니다. 바로 나오면 술을 파는 곳이 나오는데 새삼 그게 신기했던 정도? 저는 술을 별로 좋아하지 않아서 술을 사지는 않았습니다. 그냥 둘러만 보고 나왔어요.

  In fact, Malaysia and Brunei are very homogeneous in culture, so I didn't really feel like I was in another country. There's a liquor store right out there. I found it interesting haha. I didn't buy alcohol because I don't enjoy it very much. I just looked around and came out.

  점심에는 마르게리따 피자를 먹으러 갔어요! 마르게리따 피자는 마타마타에 있는데 정말 맛있습니다. 저는 개인적으로 허니 갈리 치킨 피자를 추천드려요. 제 현지 친구들도 보통 이걸 시켜서 먹더라구요. 다른 메뉴도 시켜서 먹어봤는데 허니 갈릭 치킨 피자가 최고에요. 마르게리따는 두 개로 나뉘어져 있는데 본점에서만 피자가 만들어지는 모양이었어요. 분점에서 먹었더니 다른 지점에서 피자를 가지고오더라구요. 식지 않은 따끈한 피자를 먹고 싶으시다면 본점에서 먹으시는게 좋겠죠?

  I went to eat Margherita pizza for lunch! "Margherita pizza" is in "Mata-mata" and it is really delicious. Personally, I recommend Honey Gallic Chicken Pizza. In most cases, My local friends usually order this. As much as I like another menu as well, Honey Garlic chicken pizza is the best for me. "Margherita" is divided into two restaurants, but the pizza was made only at the main branch. I ate it at a branch store and they brought pizza from another place. If you want to eat hot pizza that hasn't cooled down, you'd better have it at the main store, right?

  저녁에는 젤라또를 먹으러 Dramcones로 향했습니다. 저는 로투스맛 젤라또를 먹었는데 맛있었어요. 브루나이에는 베스킨 라빈스 31은 없지만 다양한 아이스크림 프랜차이즈가 많은 것 같아요. dreamcones, happy cream, jelatiamo, jelotto heaven 다 추천합니다. 맛이랑 가격은 솔직히 비슷 비슷해서 있는 위치에서 가장 가까운 곳을 가시면 될 것 같네요 하하

  In the evening, I headed to "Dreamcones" for trying a gelato. I ate a lotus-flavored gelato. It was delicious. There are no Baskin Robbins 31 in Brunei, but I think there are many different ice cream franchises. I recommend "Dreamcones", "Happy cream", "Gelato heaven". The taste and the price are quite similar each other, so you just try to go to the nearest place. Ha ha.

  아이스크림을 먹고 자미 모스크를 갔다왔어요. 이 사진이 무엇인지 아시나요? 브루나이의 술탄만이 이용할 수 있는 에스컬레이터라고 합니다. 새삼 신기했어요. 에스컬레이터도 따로 있다는 것이.. 모스크는 언제봐도 아름답습니다.

  After eating ice cream, I went to Jami Mosque. Do you know what this picture is? This is an escalator that can only be used by Sultan of Brunei. I find it interesting. and Mosque is always beautiful.

#7 World Wide Week

I opened a Korean Culture booth with Chaeyeon and KCC during World Wide Week. World Wide Week is that International students in UBD participate and shows their traditional culture. we prepared Korean traditional games(Gong-gi, Yut noli, Go-card, Jegichagi, ddak-gi-chi-gi), Taekwondo badge, K-drama & K-pop Quiz and some pictures which describe Chosun period. Chaeyeon and I provided Han-geul writing for foreign visitors.

There were a lot of booths from many different kinds of country. I found it interesting and fun since I was able to try various foods and traditional clothes. I was surprised because many students know K-drama and K-pop more than me. It was so difficult for me to explain Korean tradition to visitors in English, but I'd done my best haha.

At the last day, we bought a cake as a gift for KCC. they helped us a lot. so we appreciated with them so much.

#6 The Korean Traditional Arts And Games

I was enjoy having with KCC club in UBD! As you have already seen the above picture, this event was prepared for celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival in Korea. Actually, Koreans call it "Chooseok". And Chooseok is one of the biggest holidays in Korea. If I were in Korea, I would have gotten together with my family, eaten some traditional food like Japchae, Galbijjim, Sanjeok, and played some games (Hwatu, Yut-nori). It was the first time for me to spend my time abroad on Chooseok 😆

They introduced Chooseok for students who may not have known about it. And then, we had a time to organize group. I was a member of Haebaragi(sunflower).

   They prepared some traditional Korean game! I was very familiar to all of the game haha. "Mugunghwa ggotchi peyuhtsumneeda(I guess you guys would think long sentence.)", "tuho", "Jump Rope" etc. It was so fun haha.

   After game, KCC committee provided some traditional Korean food!!!! I didn't expect I could eat Japchae in Brunei, so I was very touched.. and there were a lot of food, like Songpyeon, Ddeokbbokki, Japchae, Joomeokbab. so nice.. I took away songpyeon haha.

#5 Chilling at the empire hotel

  I went to the Empire Hotel because I had a chance to stay cheap! The Empire Hotel is divided into several accommodations, and we stayed in Ragoon.

 엠파이어 호텔에서 저렴하게 묵을 수 있는 기회가 생겨서 갔다왔어요! 엠파이어 호텔에는 묵을 수 있는 숙소가 여러 곳으로 나눠져 있는데 저희는 Ragoon 동에서 묵었습니다. 

There is a small swimming pool in front of Ragoon. You can't go in after 7 p.m., so please refer to it. We were going to go swimming at night and swim here the next day morning, but we got up late and wasn’t able to do. 

Ragoon 동 앞에는 작은 수영장이 있어요. 저녁 7시 이후에는 들어가실 수 없으니까 참고하세요. 저희는 밤 수영을 하고 다음날 아침에 여기서 수영을 하려고 했는데, 늦게 일어나는 바람에 이 수영장은 이용을 못했네요.

  we rode a buggy to the main swimming pool. I heard that you can get a chance to use hotel tour by buggy once during your stay. We didn't do on a hotel tour, and we only used Buggy to go back and forth between the main swimming pool and the hotel lobby in our accommodation.

  수영장은 버기를 타고 갔어요. 투숙 기간 내에 한 번 버기를 타고 호텔투어가 가능하다고 해요. 저희는 호텔투어는 하지 않았고, 저희 숙소에서 메인 수영장, 호텔 로비를 왔다 갔다 할 때만 버기를 이용했습니다. 

  we were hungry after swimming, so we ordered room service. It was really bad. I'd recommend you to go out and buy another food. I paid 22$ for this pizza..! I should have bought another pizza.

수영하고 저녁에 배가 고파서 룸 서비스를 시켜먹었는데요. 진짜 맛없었어요. 나가서 사드시는 걸 훨씬 추천드립니다. 이 피자 무려 22 브루나이 달러인데..돈아까워 죽을뻔..

   This was the first time I've eaten breakfast as halal food, but it was all delicious to my taste. Especially, I loved the dessert mixed with granola, honey, and banana. If you ask the staff for dim sum and toast, they'll bring it to me. Please try it.

   조식을 할랄 푸드로 먹어본 건 이번이 처음이었는데, 제 입맛에는 다 맛있더라구요. 특히 중간에 그래놀라랑 꿀, 바나나 섞어놓은 (이름을 모름) 꾸덕한 디저트 너무 맛있었어요.. 직원분에게 딤섬이랑 토스트 달라고 부탁드리면 가져다 주시니까 드셔보셔용.

#4 Singapore Trip

since I arrived in here. please try it..

중간고사 휴식기 동안 싱가포르 여행을 다녀왔어요! 사실 예산 문제상 싱가폴 여행을 갈 수 있을 지 몰랐는데 어머니가 금전적으로 도움을 주셔서 좋은 시간 보내고 올 수 있었습니다. 가족들한테 너무 고맙네요.

I went to Singapore during midterm week. I didn't expect I could travel abroad since I didn't have enough money for a trip. but my mother helped me for budget, I was able to spend a good time in Singapore.

우선 저는 로열 브루나이 항공을 이용해서 다녀왔구요. 280B$로 왕복 비행기표를 끊었고, 유니버셜 스튜디오, 가든즈 바이 더 베이, 루지, 스카이라이드, 숙소는 온라인으로 미리 다 예매를 해서 갔습니다. 개인적으로 싱가포르 여행가실 분들에게 드리고 싶은 팁은..하루를 마리나 베이 샌즈 호텔에서 묵고, 나머지 여정을 그냥 저냥 괜찮은 숙소에서 머무는 것을 추천해드리고 싶어요.

I used Royal Brunei Airline. It costed 280 Brunei dollars for round trip. and I booked all of tickets like "Universial studio" and "Gardens by the bay", "luge", and "sky-ride" etc, online in advance. I'd like to give you guys a tip, It would be better for you guys to stay one day in Marina Bay Sands Hotel. I think it would be worth for you guys rather than staying all the itinerary in reasonable price hotel.

브루나이와 싱가포르는 화폐조약을 체결해서 싱가폴 달러로 환전해가면 브루나이에서도 쓸 수 있으니까 싱가폴 달러로 환전해가시는걸 추천드리고 싶습니다.

You can use Singapore dollars in Brunei as well because Brunei and Singapore concluded a currency treaty a long time ago. So I'd like to recommend to change your Brunei dollars to Singapore dollars. 

저는 오사카에 있는 유니버셜 스튜디오를 2년전에 갔다온 상태였어서 싱가포르 유니버셜 스튜디오가 어떨지 궁금했어요. 인터넷을 검색해보니까 오사카 유니버셜 스튜디오를 갔다온 상태면 싱가포르 유니버셜 스튜디오가 시시할 것이다 라는 의견과 아니다 싱가폴 유니버셜 스튜디오도 재미있다. 이렇게 의견이 갈리는 상태였는데 저는 이왕 가는거 한번 가보는게 좋지 않을까 싶기도 했고, 또 같이가는 친구는 유니버셜 스튜디오를 어렸을 때 가보고 안가봐서 한번 가보고 싶다고 해서 이번에 다녀오게 되었어요.

Actually, I've been to Osaka Universial Studio two years ago. So I was trying to decide whether I have to go there or not. there were two different kind of opinions on internet. 'If you have been to Osaka Universial Studio, you would be bored with it' versus 'It would be fun even if you have been there.'. but I think If I'm going ot go Singapore, I might as well try everything in singapore so I tried. and My friend who went to Singapore with me, she's never been to universial studio so we decided to go there.

제 개인적인 감상을 알려드리면, 확실히 싱가포르 유니버셜 스튜디오가 오사카 유니버셜 스튜디오보다는 작습니다. 오사카 유니버셜 스튜디오 같은 경우에는 개장할 때 들어가서 폐장할 때 나왔는데도 내가 다 보고온게 맞는지 헷갈렸는데 싱가폴 유니버셜 스튜디오 같은 경우에는 그런 느낌이 덜했어요.

I want to let you know my personal opinion, Singapore Universal Studio is definitely small than Osaka Universal Studio. As for Osaka Universal Studio made me feel confused about whether I looked around all of facilities because it is so big. but Singapore Universal Studio wasn't.

만약 놀이공원 가셔서 기구 타시는 거 좋아하시는 분이면 가는 걸 추천드리고요, 만약 그런게 아니라면 다른 장소를 다니는 것도 나쁘지 않을 것 같아요. 싱가포르가 날씨가 워낙 습기가 많고 더워서 장시간 야외활동을 하면 금방 힘이 빠지고 지치더라구요.

If you likes enjoying rides, I'd like to recommend to go to Singapore Universal Studio. If not, It might be good for you to go to other places, not Singapore Universal Studio. The weather of Singapore is so humid and hot. so it might make you feel tired easily as you are outside.

슈퍼트리쇼도 보고 왔습니다. 자본의 힘이 느껴졌달까? 일본 노래 중국노래 한국 노래 온갖 감미로운 노래와 함께 불빛이 아름답게 빛나더라구요. 슈퍼트리쇼는 저녁 7:45, 8:45, 하루에 두 번 15분 동안 진행되요. 근처에 마리나 베이 샌즈 분수쇼를 보고 오신 다음에 보는 걸 추천 드려요

    I watched "Super Tree Show". I felt the power of capitalism(?). I was able to listen the various music like Korean Song, Chinese song, and Japanese song with watching the bright light. SuperTree Show is always operating at 19:45 and 20:45, for 15 miniute. I'd like to recommend to watch this show after going spectra of marina bay sands.

냉면이 먹고 싶어서 찾아간 싱가포르 한식당. 여기서 냉면 절대 먹지 마세요. 가격은 22$인데 맛은 1$짜리 나시카톡보다 못했어요

    I visited a Korean restaurant in Singapore because I wanted to eat naengmyeon. Never eat cold noodles here. The price was $22, but it didn't taste as good as $1 Nasi katok.

마리나 베이 샌즈 야경도 보고 왔습니다. 보안이 철저한 것 같던데 저희는 어찌된 영문인지 첫번째 방문했을 때 투숙객 엘리베이터 타고 꼭대기 층가서 엉겁결에 보고왔어요. 나중에야 보안이 까다롭다는 걸 알았습니다.

    I've seen Marina Bay Sands night view. Although the security was tight, we somehow took the guest elevator to the top floor. Why did we book a ticket..

정말 정말 맛있었던 송파 바쿠테. 한국의 갈비탕과 거의 흡사한 맛이었어요. 진짜 존맛탱..

    A pork rib from ‘Song Fa Bak Kut Teh‘ was really delicious. It tasted almost like Korean galbi soup.

아랍스트리트에서는 이것 저것 다양하게 구경을 했어요. 사실 여기서 기념품을 사려고 했는데 너무 바가지가 심하더라구요. 처음에 20$ 불렀다가 제가 다른 곳 둘러보고 온다고 하니까 갑자기 5$에 주겠다고..

    I looked around a lot of things on Arab Street. Actually, I was going to buy souvenirs here, but it was too expensive. The owner called 20 bucks at first, and then when I told him I'm going to look around, he suddenly said he'd sell it for 5$ to me.

개인적으로 제가 가장 좋았던 곳은 클라우드 포레스트에요! 플라워돔은 꽃으로 장식된 정원이라면 클라우드 포레스트는 울창한 숲같은데요. 시원하고 건물 내부에서 이런 자연 경관을 볼 수 있는게 너무 재미있었어요

    Personally, my favorite place was Cloud Forest! The Flower Dome was a garden decorated with flowers, and the Cloud Forest looked like a dense forest. It was cool and fun to see this view inside the building.

#3 Lucky Day

    I met up with a friend who my senior introduced! Usually, the seniors who lived in Brunei in advance, often introduce a local friend to junior exchange students. As for me, Some rare seniors studied in Brunei as an exchange student, So it is difficult for me to make a new friend. Thankfully, my senior introduced Jimah! Jimah is who has been helping me since I arrived in Brunei. She is so kind and humorous! We were going to go "Healthy Habit", she let us know the new restaurant "Fuel'd". So we decided to try a new one. haha

 ���종대학교 선배가 소개시켜준 친구 지마를 만났습니다! 저는 다들 현지친구를 어떻게 사귀는 거지..? 싶었는데 보통 교환학생을 먼저 온 선배들이 자신의 친구들을 소개시켜 주는 경우가 많더라구요. 저같은 경우는 저희 학교에서 브루나이로 교환학생을 온 경우가 거의 없어서 친구를 사귀는게 쉽지가 않았는데요, 다행히 저번 학기에 교환학생 으로 오셨던 선배 언니가 친구들 몇분을 소개시켜 주셨어요! 그 중 한 분인 지마언니 입니다. 초반에 제가 영어도 안되고 채연이도 모르던 상태였을 때 학교생활을 잘 하고 있는지 물어봐주셨던 고마우신 분이에요. 매번 healthy habit 만 가다가 이번에 fuel’d 를 추천해주셔서 가봤습니다.

  I think "Fuel'd" has the same system with a "healthy habit". we can choose topping and sauce on the rice. It was very nice to have lunch with Jimah. The one thing such a shame is that Jimah is gonna work at Malasia so we don't have enough to meet up. I should have texted her early.. :'( So we made an appointment which we're gonna meet up during September.

 Fuel’d는 healthy habit 이랑 상호명만 다르지 사실상 똑같은 시스템을 가지고 있는 음식점이에요. 직접 먹고 싶은 샐러드 재료와 소스를 고르고 가격을 지불하면 되는 형태랄까요? 서브웨이의 샐러드바 버전이라고 보시면 될 것 같네요.

  지마 언니랑 선배 언니에 대한 얘기도 나누고 근황 토크도 하고 재미있었어요. 아쉬운건 언니가 취업을 하셔서 만날 시간이 얼마 없다는거..? 그래서 9월 중에 한 번 더 만나기로 했답니다 하하

 And I got good information from Jimah! Korea film "Exit" has been released in Brunei. we happened to watch the movie cheaply since that day was a weekday. It is so expensive to watch a movie in Korea.. you have to pay 1 movie for 13B$ unless you watch at culture day(once a month, the last week, Wednesday).

 언니랑 얘기 도중에 한국 아이돌 윤아 얘기가 나와서 수다를 떨다가 브루나이에 ‘엑시트’가 개봉했다는 사실을 알게 됐어요. 마침 평일이라 영화 표값이 4$밖에 안되서 바로 보러갔답니다. 한국은 문화의 날(마지막 주 수요일)이 아니면 영화값이 엄청 비싸요.. 한번 볼때 브루나이 돈으로 13$ 정도를 내야해요...CGV 망할놈들..

 It's been a while what to see the movie which makes me happy and refreshing among Korea movie. I'd like to recommend to watch this movie for you guys. and I was surprised that there were 3 subtitles(Malay, English, Chinese) during a running movie. It makes me realize that I'm from a single-ethnic. I also thought that the Brunei culture is very diverse.

 엑시트 정말 정말 오랜만에 본 기분좋아지는 영화였어요!!! 최고에요!!! 꼭 보시기를 강추 드립니다.. 개인적으로 브루나이에서 영화본 경험은 저한테 조금 충격이었어요. 자막이 세개나 떠있어서.. 영어, 말레이어, 중국어... 새삼 제가 단일민족 국가에서 왔다는게 실감이 나기도 하고.. 문화가 다양하다는 것이 이런것인가 싶기도 해서 생각이 많아졌답니다. 하하.

#2 The day I met up Nadia

   The day we met up Nadia, We were going to have lunch at the care cafeteria. As soon as we left home, she sent me a message that there are vendors at IHS. so we decided to go there. :->

   나디아를 만나기로 한 날, 저희는 원래 코어 카페테리아에서 점심을 먹기로 했었는데요. 출발할 때 즈음에 나디아가 IHS에 노점이 열렸으니까 그곳에서 만나는게 어떻냐고 제안해줘서 IHS 건물로 가기로 했습니다.

       Actually, I used to go IHS because there were many vendors before. but I haven’t seen this Ice cream vendor, So I tried. Considering that it was very small, I thought it is a little bit expensive for its size. (1 for 3B$) I picked up “Watermelon Paradise”, I like how refreshing it is. Nadia bought “Hokkaido sea salt”. I thought It would taste like soda because of its color, but it’s flavor was soft caramel so I was surprised. Try it if you like a sweet one.

  사실 이전에도 IHS에 자주 갔었어요. 왜냐하면 여러 행사들이 자주 열려가지고 노점들이 많았었거든요. 그런데 이 팝시클 아이스크림은 한번도 본 적이 없어서 한번 시도해 봤습니다. 제 기준 크기가 좀 작은데...크기에 비해 가격이 비싸다는 생각을 했어요. 저는 수박맛을 골랐고 상큼하니 좋았습니다. 나디아는 호카이도 바다 소금 맛을 골랐는데요. 저는 아이스크림 색깔이 파랗길래 소다맛이 날 거라고 생각했는데 달콤한 카라멜 맛이 나서 놀랐습니다. 달콤한거 좋아하시면 한번 드셔보셔용 :-)

   There were many event booths in IHS. All the booths covered mental health. The pictures above are some memos from UBD students what gives someone who goes through mental problem brave and hopes mentally. It made me feel very touched because there were so many good contents.

   IHS에는 많은 행사 부스가 있었습니다. 대부분의 부스에서는 정신 건강에 대해서 다루고 있었어요. 위에 있는 사진들은 행사장에서 발견한 메모들인데요, 학생들이 직접 정신적으로 힘들어하는 사람들을 위해 희망을 주고 용기를 주는 메세지를 남겨놓았더라구요. 읽어보니까 좋은 내용들이 많아서 감동받았습니다..

   we’ve tried some games, like “Try not to laugh challenge”, “Meditation”. 

  게임도 몇 개 했어요. 웃음참기 게임이랑, 명상 체험 같은..?

   I got this from the booth as a reward what I finished the game! haha soooo cuteee.

#1 Welcoming Night

 It has been already a month I arrived in Brunei as an exchange student! Time flew so fast... I'm writing this blog to let the readers know about my first experience which was the 'Welcoming Night' last Saturday, 24th August 2019. 'Welcoming night' is a party, where international students get to know each other and to share their own culture. there were food and drinks as well as performances. I took a selfie before I went to the party.

  어느덧 브루나이에 교환학생으로 온지 한달이 훌쩍 지나갔네요! 시간이 어찌나 빠른지…. 오늘은 8월 24일에 열렸던 WELCOMING NIGHT에 갔다 온 후기를 적으려고 합니다! 웰커밍 나잇은 UBD에 재학중인 교환학생, 유학생, 그리고 현지 학생들이 한데 모여 문화도 교류하고, 안면도 트는 파티라고 할 수 있는데요. 음식도 먹고, 음료수도 마시고 공연도 볼 수 있는 흥미로운 행사입니다. 가기전에 신나가지고 셀카 많이 찍었네용..희희  

    When I just entered, one of the students from EIASA gave me a ribbon for my wrist as a sign of an international student.

   스튜던트 센터에 들어서면 EIASA (UBD 학생회) 학생이 이렇게 손목에 리본을 매줍니다. 국제학생이라는 표시인 것 같아요.

    It is difficult to remember the unfamiliar foreign name of international students since they are from other countries. So, the student from EIASA made us put the name tag on our chest so we know each other's name and I think It was very useful. My name is HYEBIN, but I know from my experience if I put my name on the tag, people will pronounce it differently. so to make people pronounce it correctly and easy was by changing the spelling from HYEBIN to HAEBIN.

  학생들이 각국에서 모이다 보니까 생소한 외국 이름들을 기억하기가 쉽지 않은데요. 그래서인지 이름표를 가슴에 달아달라고 하더라구요. 실제로 도움이 됐습니다... 외국 친구들 이름 너무 생소한 것.. 외국 친구들은 제 이름이 생소하겠죠..? 제 실제 이름은 HYEBIN 이지만 한국에서도 발음은 HAEBIN으로 하기 때문에 HAEBIN으로 적어 줬습니다.

       The schedule from welcoming night! but you won’t be able to check this schedule. because the place will be crowded and you will feel a bit lost.

    이 날의 일정표! 근데 막상 가시면 정신이 없어서 이 종이 확인 안합니다.. 그냥 시간에 내 몸을 맡길뿐..ㅎㅎ

   EIASA provided the catering for international students. Chaeyeon and I were in front of a line, somebody told us to go back to line. so we managed to get out of there. but I don't know why he said like that..because we lost our seat. it felt like too much trouble and hot to stand a line again so we didn't eat. (We should've stood at that line...)

   학생들 배고플까봐 학생회 측에서 음식도 준비 해줬습니다, 저랑 제 친구는 앞쪽에 줄 서있다가 뒤로 가라그래서 빠져나왔는데..왜 뒤로 가라고 했는지 모를..결국 줄 다시 서다가 너무 더워서 그냥 안먹었어요. (<-?)

     we watched the performance of international students (Japan, Indonesia, China, Indo, Oman etc). They were very good at sing a song well although they would've felt nervous. I was going to perform with my friend, but my guitar was not good enough to perform so we quitted. but I'm sorry to quit because it might've been a valuable memory.

   교환학생 친구들(일본, 인도네시아, 중국, 인도, 오만 등등) 공연도 감상했습니다. 준비시간도 짧고 엄청 긴장됐을텐데 다들 잘 부르더라구요. 저랑 제 친구도 원래 NELL의 기억을 걷는 시간을 부르려고 했었는데..제가 기타 반주를 엉성하게 해서 그만 뒀습니다. 할 걸 그랬나 아쉽기도 해요 하하 잘했든 못했든 추억이니까요 :-)

   I took a pictures with Rabiatul in BJFA. BJFA is a Japanese culture club in UBD. I'm just trying to post their group performance video, but my phone doesn't work.

   BJFA 동아리 Rabiatul이랑도 한 컷! BJFA는 UBD에 있는 일본 문화 동아리에요. 이번에 단체 공연도 해서 지금 포스팅 하려고 했는데, 핸드폰에서 노트북으로 옮겨지지를 않네요..

There are many Japanese exchange students in Brunei. This is my personal opinion, if you want to study not only English but also Japanese and Chinese, come to Brunei. I think you will be able to improve your language skills enough. Because there are so many Japanese students, you can be friends at any time. And in the case of Chinese, most Bruneian can usually speak three languages: Malay, Chinese, and English. In fact, there are practically few Koreans in Brunei. As for me, I was the only exchange student who was sent this semester from Korea. But I recommend Brunei if you want to improve your Japanese and Chinese and English!

브루나이에는 많은 일본 교환학생들이 있습니다. 제 개인 적인 생각인데요, 영어를 공부하고 싶으신 분들 뿐만 아니라 일본어를 공부하고 싶으시거나, 중국어를 공부하고 싶은신 분들도 브루나이에 오시면 충분히 언어 실력을 향상시키실 수 있을 것 같습니다. 왜냐하면 일본 학생들이 굉장히 많기 때문에 언제든지 친구가 되실 수 있구요, 중국어 같은 경우에는 브루나이언들이 보통 말레이어, 중국어, 영어 이렇게 세 가지 언어를 구사하는 경우가 많기 때문에 도움이 될 것이라는 생각이 듭니다. 사실 한국인은 거의 없다고 봐도 무방합니다. 저의 경우, 이번학기에 파견된 교환학생 대한민국 통틀어 저 하나밖에 없었으니까요. 하지만 일본어, 중국어 실력을 높이고 싶으신 분들은 브루나이 추천합니다!

   I was so excited that night. but I left some regret in my mind. If I had good English, I would've talked with more friends in welcoming night. I hope my English will get better gradually. 

  개인적으로 진짜 재미있었던 파티였어요. 영어를 조금만 더 잘했더라면 하는 아쉬움도 있었는데요, 계속 말걸고 싶었던 현지 친구 번호도 따고, 사진도 찍고..끝나고 아이스크림도 먹으러 가고..매일 매일 이 날만 같았으면 좋겠다 싶었던 하루 였어요.
