My April Reading Stats !!!

This month we got the much awaited new Emily Henry novel and it lived up to the hype. Emily, you never miss ❤️

I discovered a love for Ashley Poston and Emma Lord this month! Their books are so fluffy and emotional! Also Emma Lord has two novels (at least) that feature cross country runners and as a former cross country girlie myself, I appreciate the rep of my unpopular high school sport.

I read the last of Christina Lauren’s standalone novels (besides a Christmas themed one that I’m saving for December).

I still think that we are sleeping on Kate Clayborn as an author.

I’ve come to the conclusion that the novel Ella Enchanted would actually be best adapted into a stage musical.

I imagine in particular there being a “Forced to Obey” type song as the first or second track, that later gets a reprise when she breaks the curse. And I think that Ella and Char’s letters would make for a really great song that would of course be called “Are You Still Too Young To Marry?”

And now I’m just sad that I lack the necessary skills to write and compose a musical so that I can bring this idea to life 🥲

My biggest recommendation from this list is “The No-Show” and the less you know going into reading it, the better. Thank me later.

The school I work at is old as fuck. It became a school in the mid 50s but the building existed before that as a military hospital. Last Tuesday, we had a snow storm and the power went out for like 3 hours. One of the students was like “don’t we have a back up generator?” and another student says “nah this school is way too old for that! It was built in like the 90s or something!” with this absolutely incredulous voice as if the 90s were some ancient time when we were still getting around by horse and buggy and sending messages via carrier pigeon. And my lil born-in-1999 ass had to sit there and grapple with the idea that I am now considered ancient to The Youth™️

Poppy and Alex from People We Meet on Vacation make a cameo in Funny Story.

When Poppy and Alex are on vacation, they create the identities of Gladys and Keith.

In Funny Story, Daphne and Miles run into a blond couple who are "comically disproportionate in height"..

..and who are named Gladys and Keith.

The character descriptions fit, with Poppy and Alex both being blond, with Poppy being peppy and spastic at the early hours and Alex being sleepy eyed.

I've not seen anyone catch this one so I was pretty excited about it.

one of my 6th graders asked if ive done my taxes and i said no and she turned to the school police officer, pointed at me, and yelled “YOU NEED TO ARREST HER”
