This is the piece I made for the "palace of xuan zhen" mu qing zine last year !! I'm also sharing this design notes that wasn't included in the zine!! I hope you enjoy it !!

For the illustration, I wanted to paint the whole thing in gold with him all in black. There's the whole world that is radiant and him like a "black cloud", but he's shining so brightly in this moment.

I spent a lot of time thinking of how to make the outfit look meaningful and I chose to draw this scene from the book because it says so much about his role in the story.

As it says on the design image, the overall design of the outfit mirrors the crown prince's God-Pleasing Warrior outfit, instead of looking "monstrous" like in some official designs.

I wanted it to look like a "younger" or "still blooming" version of his god form 800 years later, so I put some clothing elements of those robes on the outfit, but didn't make them "luxurious". The fabrics are plain without any embroideries.

I wanted to draw the boy that no one knows yet, but who will become one of the greatest and who will rise to the heavens in the future. 🌟

i always had this thought that since they yell in the communication array while forgetting to disconnect, they would definitely forget about the silencing talisman...

exactly this!! other heavenly officials cannot decide if mq getting flustered at the beginning of their relationship and flinging fx across the street, or them just doing this in front of everyone normally and making them feel extremely single is more annoying 😋🙄
