miles’ head tips slightly to the side and their lower lip sticks out in a pensive look as they briefly consider the offer. “ hm .. as tempting as that is, i’m not sure it would reflect very POSITIVELY on my character — and anyways, harassing children isn’t really my cup of tea. anyone twenty-five and up is fair game, though. ”

‘ quite the moral code you have, dude, ’ petra scoffs. ‘ why don’t you EXPAND your world a little, hm ? it’ll make living in this shit hole so much more interesting. ’ the girl looks up at the other, eyes fixed on miles as though to challenge them. she hardly cared that they were centuries her senior — in her eyes, everyone was fair game. ‘ twenty years and up, how’s that sound ? besides, how would gaea punish you next, anyway, huh ? ’

PRUDENCE.

❛ oh — but i like the music. don’t you ? ❜ dream-like, sweet laughter ( not quite as alluring as once was, but musical nonetheless ) fall from her mouth, effortless. ❛ not nice to be destroying their instruments, i think.❜

she shoots the other a glare, too stubborn to make much of the other’s ( rather sensible ) words of advice. in petra’s world, anything that went against her beliefs usually went one ear and out the other, though it lingered in her brain just long enough for her to form petty little grudges. ‘ i’ll tell ‘ya what’s not nice — unorganized, harmonized singing in the middle of combat training ! ’ petra replies, ‘ this isn’t a fucking MUSICAL. ’

MICHELLE.

Gaze averts and soon squints, the nuisance beside her increasing with each passing second. Though, to Michelle, everything and everyone was a burden to some capacity. “Why not just punch them in the face?” The redhead questions sincerely, thin eyebrows arching upwards, curious. “I’m sure that’d be easier than a rampage, child. Save you some time, hm?” As an adult, it’s not quite wise to aid someone much younger down a path of violence. But, when has Michelle ever been sensible?

her face widens into a big grin, satisfied by the older’s response. petra was seldom encouraged to resort to VIOLENCE — not that she ever really needed permission for punching someone out, but hearing the suggestion from someone else felt validating. ‘ easier, maybe, but stomping on their guitars sounds way more fun. although i ‘spose i could just do both. breaking their jaws does mean i won’t have to hear spontaneously break out into some abba song. ’

AVELIN. 

Avelin giggled and shook her head. “I love seeing you show enthusiasm for something, but I don’t think destroying their instruments is the best idea you’ve ever had. Personally, I enjoy the company of an Apollo kid, music can be so romantic,” she sighed dreamily. 

she rolls her eyes at her friend, finding the other’s remark less than endearing. had avelin been anyone else, the conversation probably wouldn’t have gone much further but petra always had a SOFT spot in her heart for, well ... avelin’s soft spots. ‘ romantic, my ASS, ave, ’ she fires back, leaning in even closer towards the other. ‘ that’s how they’ll get you, y’know. their poetry and music ... ’ her expression turns into one of disdain, ‘ you’re better than that. ’

‘ i swear to GODS, if i hear another kid of apollo break out into song or see 'em pull out a guitar out of fucking nowhere, i’m going on an instrument destroying rampage. ’ she speaks slowly, putting emphasis on every word through gritted teeth. a little dramatic, sure, but petra meant every word. she looks to the other, raising a brow. ‘ you in or you out ? ’

jin here, back with another ! this is petra. she’s twenty-one, a daughter of poseidon, & her favorite hobby is getting on other people’s nerves.

— ok listen i KNOW saoirse is actually twenty-six but what am i to do when there are beautiful resources of her from lady bird !! it’s just too good to pass up. so i aged petra down lots, and hopefully she passes hah.

— petra grew up being the eldest of six in a family of mismatched origins in suburban new york. all of her siblings shared their mom in common, and the fact that all their respective dads abandoned them. she also happened to be her mom’s least favorite, yet still somehow her go-to for when she wanted to dump all her unwanted responsibilities onto someone else. her house was super chaotic and everyone who lived on their street knew it. they were THAT house.

— but petra never really cared. she did her thing, took care of her siblings ( although she’s definitely far from being a mother figure, it was more like just a Cool Sister kind of vibe ), and flipped off her neighbours when she caught them staring. she never graduated high school, because she didn’t go enough and eventually got kicked out in her senior year. the only thing really going for her was her success in her school swim team but that wasn’t enough to keep her afloat.  

— she found out she was a demigod when she was fourteen. around her coming of age, she started feeling ... weird. all the usual signs, dyslexia, adhd, along with some other strange coincidences. her mom finally sat her down and told her, and strangely, it hardly even phased her. she skipped the part where she was in shock, and immediately just thought it was cool. 

— after she got kicked out of school, petra ran away. just felt like it, honestly. she didn’t have much keeping her at home and needed to be somewhere different. drove around the country with her car, and occasionally got into some trouble ( she was having too much fun with her powers ). at one point, enough trouble for someone to find her and get her put into the school at elysium.

— so, she’s been in elysium for around three years now. she’s sent her family letters, but has never heard back and while she pretends it doesn’t hurt her, it definitely does. petra tries to act nonchalant about the whole being stuck in a small town thing, but it definitely drives her crazy. if not for having so much action at the academy, she’d probably have gone off the rails a long time ago. 

PERSONALITY

— intelligent but you would never know. she acts dumb, and in everyday life, is dumb. but when it counts, she’s got street smarts ! maybe not quite as emotionally intelligent though, oops.

— curious and adventurous, can never sit still. she’s always looking for the next best thing. once petra’s achieved a goal, she immediately gets bored of it and looks to something else. to her, if there’s nothing new left to experience, feel, or discover, she’d probably be ok with just dying. 

— kind of a shit starter but also not petty ? she just doesn’t like taking life too seriously and doesn’t understand people who do. if bad things happen, it’s just ... c’est la vie. so, she does leave lots of trails of messes behind but isn’t one to linger on past things either ( if you ask me, i feel like she needs to go to therapy ). 

— fiercely loyal ! the kind of person who has the mindset of if my friend hates you, i’m also going to hate you. she’ll fight for the people she loves, even when they don’t necessarily ask for or want it. 

— i’m sure this is obvious but petra has very little patience and can easily lose her temper. she’s also like a little kid, she’ll get bored quickly if she doesn’t see results fast. unless something is really important to her, in which case she will stubbornly trudge through until she gets what she wants.

ARCHETYPE: the explorer. petra’s biggest motivation in life is the fact that there’s more to be found, experienced, and felt. if someone told her she’d done everything she possibly could in her lifetime, she would probably just drop dead without any hesitation. she always wants the freedom to explore, go outside of her comfort zone and expand her world, maybe even pick up something better than what she already has. this makes her ambitious, but can also make her flighty, restless and unreliable. GENRE OF CHOICE: comedies. if she’s paying to watch a play, she might as well be enjoying herself. sometimes, petra even finds that comedies have the best messages ( or the most interesting delivery, at least ). AESTHETIC: a bright red sunset on the horizon, the same necklace you’ve worn since you were seven, a streak of blue in your hair, the smell of saltwater, a worn out journal tucked underneath your bed, skinny dipping late at night, going to a party alone and leaving with new friends.
