“There are other ways,” Silco said.  While he did not have a plan to get out yet, he was confident in his abilities to formulate one once he got there, and he wasn’t above killing if he had to, either.  He actually preferred that, and it was what he had done before he had the ability to buy his way out.
Tumblr media
“You want to clean up this city, don’t you?  Purge it of evil?”  His fingers twitched, but otherwise, he tried to be still so that Kirk would seem like the unreasonable one for further violence.  “That’s what I want, so you see, not different at all.  Except, I suppose, in our respective definitions of ‘evil’ and the sacrifices we’re willing to make.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
" We'll see about that. " the urge to bare his fangs and sink them into the man's neck was palpable, but he was bound by the promise he'd made with Hernan. No more killing. So here he was, gritting his teeth and holding back his more feral attributes. For the greater good.
but its moments like this that made him question why they bothered, when men like this could get away with anything.
" Our goals are vastly different. " he states, tone firm but deadpan, " It won't be temporary if we put you somewhere you won't be able to buy your way out of. "

Akali had become marginally better at accepting advice from her betters in recent times, but she had to respect them first—and even with the respect, she typically had to fall hard on her face to learn anything.  In her early days with K/DA, there were many moments when she messed up and had to rely on one of the other girls to get her out of a situation, but she usually fought them on it, anyway.
She felt a little bad when he mentioned being concerned for her, but not enough to tone down her attitude.  “You’re concerned, huh?” she said, leaning over her crossed arms.  “Well, your bedside manner could use a little work, if you want anyone to believe that.”
With how much alike they all are - himself, Ava, Akali - it really shouldn't come as a surprise. She did fall into a closer category to his sisters, but Odin really hadn't been good at dealing with the triplets when they had gotten like this either.
"If I w-w-w-wanted to st-start a f-f-fight w-with you on t-this, it w-w-would l-look a lot d-d-different." There was no way for Akali to know that, of course, but Odin's just going to dance around the topic for now. "I w-w-was c-c-concerned, t-that's all. T-Thought I s-s-should at least w-warn you. Not l-like I c-c-c-could st-stop you, just w-w-wanted to... M-Make you aware."

Akali’s friendship with Ekko was something that did not get touched on in many interviews, a shame because it made her seem like she had forgotten where she came from, which couldn’t be farther from the case.  Ekko and her life before K/DA occupied her thoughts daily, and she wished she could make the media care about him the same way she did, attribute more of her success to him and have people listen.  Ava was willing to do that and would get all the answers she liked.
Akali laughed, hearing that Ekko has nothing but charitable things to say about her, picked a flake of green paint off the warm metal railing, and flicked it away.  She shook her head.  “Like I said, he’s everybody’s hype man.  I probably be way worse if it wasn’t for him.  It was shortly after I left home, about… oh… six or seven years ago now; he was looking through the trash and shit but stopped to talk to me.  I didn’t know a lot of other people then, so I kind of went along with it.”
Although Akali had been much older, around the age Ava was now, and Ekko was a bright-eyed child, even more so than what he already was, and she had been standoffish in the beginning, overwhelmed, trying to face the world at that age.  So, despite her better judgment and lacking the desire to babysit, she had let him in.  He was so full of so much wonder at her talent and became the first and only person to believe in her the way she wished to be.
“If not for him, I probably would have gotten wrapped up in the rockstar shit, like drugs and whatever else.  But I managed to not mess up my life ‘cause I was afraid to disappoint him.”  Ekko had that kind of quality if people let him, but many didn’t.  “So, I’ve got a lot more to thank him for than the reverse.  I dunno what he’d send you my way for.” That was like him, though, to want everyone to get along, idealistic little dumbass that he was.
Akali looked at Ava, mirth glittering in her black eyes.  “All right, to make you feel better, I’ll ask you something really basic, too.  What do you wanna be when you grow up?”  After all, as much as the topic of Ekko interested her and she would love to talk about it with someone, she didn’t want any relationship she built with Ava to on that alone.
Joining Akali in leaning against the railing, she looks out onto the street, a healthy blush sweeping over her cheeks. Some of the ins and outs of dating someone like Ekko are still foreign to her, and even though she does realize someone like Akali is probably safe using the phrase partner or girlfriend around, it's the rest of the world she worries a little about.
Twirling a strand of hair around her finger, she snorts, shaking her head. "Nothin' bad, he hypes you up to no end, it's really sweet." Ava loves hearing whatever story Ekko's got for her, loves hearing how much he loves everyone. It's endearing, really. "He talks about you differently than other people, though, when he's talkin' about someone he cares about he's... Got a different look in his eyes, I kinda figured I wouldn't have to ask too much..."
Tearing her gaze away from the street, Ava does pause for a moment to decide on a good starting question, and how she can also tell the older girl that she's free to ask questions as well. "...Ugh, gosh, the only questions I can even think of are stupid basic, like how long you two have been friends, stuff like that. But, um, if you've got any burning questions for me, feel free to shoot 'em."

“I don’t mind it,” Akali said, smiling.  “There’s always more where that came from.”  Being a popstar had her earning more money than she could spend, and she didn’t deserve all of it.  She had no qualms about using it to make a young girl’s day a little brighter.
“You should get what you want, too.  If you like the small ones more, that’s fine, but if you’re just doing that ‘cause of the price—don’t worry about it, seriously.”  There were many reasons someone might want a smaller stuffed animal; the larger ones were unwieldy.
The teddy bears sat in front of her, crammed into a metal cage in the middle of the aisle, dozens, maybe hundreds of them.  Would the store even sell all of them by the end of the season, and what would happen to them if they didn’t?
“The heart-patterned ones are pretty corny, aren’t they?  But I don’t know if I should go for the classic brown.  That’s kind of boring.  Do they have any purple ones?”
It was still understandable that she didn't want to buy things frivolously, status or not, but to that Ava also says treat yourself. A once a year thing was fine, and it wasn't as if she had to buy something every year either. "Only if you want to," Ava points out, not about to ask when she could afford a smaller one.
"What if you got one of the big guys and I got a small one? They could match!" At least then, Ava wouldn't feel weird about saying no either, though if Akali pressed any further, she'd get one of Ava's more real non-answers. She just didn't have room for anything big. "D'ya like any specific patterns? I can start digging-"

Viktor did not especially want to execute the plan so loudly and frowned at Ava’s suggestion.  At least, she had promised that nobody would get hurt, and that may have been the most that he could hope for.  Getting out of Piltover was going to be messy either way, causing a host of problems from a variety of angles.  “I’ll think about it,” he told her, though he knew he didn’t have time for that.  He had spent so much of his life thinking, and it was high time that he acted.  Collateral damage would occur, no matter what, and he had become increasingly convinced that the key to saving himself and doing anything meaningful with the Hexcore lied in Zaun.
He had more people willing to help him in his home city, Ava and Singed and possibly others.  He believed some part of Jayce still cared for him, but it wasn’t enough.  Largely, Piltover had turned its back on him, which he always expected it to do, to begin with.  While he had doubts about Singed’s trustworthiness and reliability, he was better than the options Viktor had currently.
“No, I don’t want you handling the Hexcore,” he said, with a long look into its violet glow before he turned back to Ava.  Sky’s death was still fresh in his mind, leading to an unwillingness to get too many other people involved in it.  Of course, Ava was magical herself, and it was different with her than it had been with Sky, but it was apparent that she, too, wanted to protect Viktor from it, and he did not know how the Hexcore would react to any perceived interference from her.  He feared it, but he no longer wished to destroy it as he had in the moment.  Maybe that was simply its influence over him, softening his feelings toward it since it had chosen him in particular, but he wanted to be the one to handle it, felt like he was the only one who could.
“I should be involved, too.  I won’t have you do everything.”  People often thought lesser of him because of his cane, and while Ava was not like the rest of them, Viktor’s stubbornness persisted.  He refused to sit back and allow her to execute the entire plan by herself.
“There is no real protecting me from them.  Contrary to popular belief down there, no one on the Council or in the Academy or in this lab is an idiot.  If both the Hexcore and I vanish at the same time after the attack, they will make the logical deduction that I had a hand in it and come after me all the same.”  Very few people had trusted him from the beginning, being that he was born in Zaun, and he was certain that his betrayal would not surprise at least a handful of them.  The problem remained in Jayce, who would undoubtedly take Viktor’s leaving hard, but their friendship had been strained as it was, and if he had to pick between Jayce and living another day, it was not a contest.
“Besides, the attack shouldn’t originate in the lab, or some of the equipment I need might get damaged.  And if you stage the attack elsewhere…”  He shook his head.  “You’ll have no time to come up here and grab the Hexcore as well before the Enforcers react.  Best that I already have all of my things, including the Hexcore, packed up and am making off with all of it when the attack is staged so that everyone will be diverted that way and won’t notice me.  You’re faster than I am, to be sure, but you’d have to expect a miracle to pull it all off yourself.  No, I’ll help you, if we want to go that route.”
Hearing that he does know is a relief, albeit a small one. Ava's not so unaware as to think that Viktor wouldn't have thought about this already, but she is violently aware as to how these choices can go. She just didn't want him to think he had to go through this alone, that there wasn't someone else in his corner who was unafraid to make sure he was able to get somewhere safely. While Ava does try not to cause too much more chaos than there already is - not keen on having a target painted directly on her by Piltover - she has a little more flexibility when it comes to the cities and how well they knew her.
She was already willing to offer to help with any modifications he needed to do in order to allow himself to live, would fight back her own squeamishness around the more medical situations if it meant helping Viktor out. No one here had the same technology Titan did, she doubted that there would be a proper way to keep him stable in Zaun if he did end up augmenting down there, and she'd be there to help viktor in whatever way she could.
"It doesn't have to be you to initially get it out." Although she probably should, Ava does not fear the Council nearly as much as Viktor does. They are a smaller nuisance than others, but a nuisance all the same. "I can stage an attack, just me, ensure that no one actually gets hurt, but make it seem like it was a targeted attack. No one knows my magic except you and some Zaunites, we could plan it out."
Nor does Ava trust anyone but herself or Viktor to be near or in possession of the Hexcore, and him confessing that he's afraid of it only serves to make her believe that even more wholeheartedly. "You don't have to be the one to touch it to get it out. And even if you do, I, we, someone can help us make a way to contain it for a little bit, so you don't have to directly touch it."
Her gaze narrows into a slight glare at the crackling of energy, a silent challenge and warning to the core. She's not afraid of it, and if it knows what's best for it's chosen wielder, it would do best to play nice. Only so much could be done with it if Viktor feared it. Fear is a powerful emotion, one that needed to be directed properly lest it turn more negative and consume someone.
"My point is, you don't have to do this alone. You have more resources than they do, people that are more than willing to help you, to offer assistance." Some of that earlier bitterness spills back over, as she spits out, "Fuck the Council, fuck that little rat, there's so many ways to do things and all of them start with you not being here, and working with the Hexcore in a mutually beneficial situation. You know you're not gonna get that here, and you have me." There is a temptation to reach out and grab both of Viktor's hands, allow a surge of magic to go through them to prove her point, a silent promise, but Ava doesn't do so.
Instead, she offers her hands out. Palms up. "I swear, Viktor, I will help you and the Hexcore out of Piltover, to somewhere safe. Learn to work with the Hexcore, anything that I can do to help."
Out of the corner of her eye she catches movement, a spectral hand resting on her shoulder and squeezing. For once, they seemed to be in agreement.

“You are a beast,” Silco said, smiling as he rested his hands on their hips, “a devastatingly majestic beast.  Untamed.  Elusive.”  He was held back from finding another descriptor for them by his own lips brushing their shoulder.
“I would argue that beasts are better at commanding fear and awe and respect than man.”  After all, were not beast metaphors used for humans who inspired strong, visceral emotions?  Wolf, snake, rat…  “It comes so effortlessly to them… Yes, you are a beast.”  His hands moved up, caught Bikmui’s face between them.  And Silco kissed their lips, once, twice, leaving a small graze of teeth behind.
“That makes you more worthy of devotion, not less.”
Sweet was the smile which played upon rouged lips as fingers slipped behind him; interlocking, sweet as a lovers' embrace. Sweeter still was the kiss which followed, the soft scent of blossoms following each stolen taste; each breath stolen from work which otherwise beckoned.
"We are no beast," Bikmui huffed, lips drawn into a pout and eyes narrowed in a dare. "You wound us so, Silco. But perhaps... perhaps we shall forgive you if devote yourself to us this night."
And proud was the king whose game promised all that they wanted - paperwork forgiven, and their mortal man's attentioned turned solely upon them. "What say you?"

Ah, so that’s it, then, Viktor thought as she dissolved before his eyes, her voice and form drifting into her mists.  Mortification flooded his chest, filling the space he had opened by making such an inane request, and he tried to put it out of his mind.  What was he thinking, asking such a dark presence to sit with him, anyway?
But before he could stew in the feelings too long, Nith’s voice spoke with much clarity again, first all around him and then on the other side of the room.  Before his expression could settle into a frown, she shocked him out of it, and he turned toward her perch with eyes thrown wide.  Her presence did not displease or frighten him, but he was so confounded by her return to him that he could not put on a happier countenance at first.
“Oh… yes…”  He coughed into his fist.  “I’m afraid I’m a little out of practice…”  Not to mention, it was much easier to entertain in one’s own home than in a lab.  While Viktor found the work absorbing, many people would not, and most considered it impolite to hold them, to wrap them up in discussions about it.  “I would ask you to play a game, but I don’t have any of those on hand.”  Chessboards and the like decorated the Academy grounds, but it might be a minute yet before he was able to walk down to them.
He paused, looking at the floor below her place, rolling through his mental list of engaging conversation topics.  “Do you read much?  Is that something… that…”  He trailed off before he could ask if it was a pursuit in which ghosts and banshees had the capacity in which to partake.
A promise was a promise. The woman had arrived unannounced and invaded the scientist's space. She had asked her questions and received answers, that was enough for her, so the next thing she did was to turn away and begin to fade gently into her mist. Nith did not wish to torment the poor man any further, it was time to leave, after all, the presence of a ghost is not something comfortable. Of course, she understood her place and it was not next to the living, not anymore....
The swaying of her body stopped, the mist brushed softly on the floor while her red eyes turned to look at him for a moment.
"... but..." -the banshee whispered softly, remembering Viktor's initial posture and the contrast with his voice in his last words- "... I thought that... I-I'm not..."
I am not a person. She could hardly consider herself a human being still, she thought. Her fingers gently caressed his hand as she smiled at him, the mist consumed her until she disappeared in front of him.
Silence.
He was left, once more, alone with his thoughts...
"Well, I guess I can haunt this room for a little while longer." -resounded her playful voice from the other end of the lab.
"So, gentleman, how do you plan to entertain me?"
Commented Nith sitting over the table hugging one of her knees, her cheek resting on it letting her hair fall to the side.

The betrayal burning in Ava’s veins was too familiar to Silco.  He had half a mind—more than half—to send Odin to a slow, torturous demise himself and might have if anyone could find heads or tails of the boy.  However, seeing as that was not an option, he had no choice but to ensure Ava did nothing rash to herself.  To keep her carrying on was his principal concern at the moment.
He smirked, eyes fixed on her from across his desk, hands folded under his chin.  “No one is saying you can’t have a hand in it when that time comes, either.  It’s ineffective to wait for fate, and all the downfalls I’d like to see, well… I like to give them a nudge in the right direction.  Sometimes, it serves to delay revenge a bit, though, to make it more satisfying in the end.”  Not to mention, one planned better when they had time and weren’t sporting raw, open wounds.
“Whatever happens, it’s important to remember that you are the one in control here, not him.”

@modestmuses said: Silco: The only thing keeping me from running away and hiding from society for the rest of my life is spite. I could disappear forever, but there are some bitches whose downfalls I have yet to witness, and I wanna be around when that happens. (he's got a funny way of giving advice sometimes LKFJDSJDF)
Spite has been what's keeping Ava going, the pact even being one big fuck you to the specter, and it's even more true now. If there was anyone who Ava thought would understand her more than anything, it's Silco. Hell, the only reason she hadn't come straight to him was because she knew she needed some time alone, and she was a little predictable in that regard.
His words do earn a sharp laugh from her, as she stops pacing for a moment to shoot a vicious grin towards him. "I was going to rip his head off. Kill the bastard again. I know he's died at least once, I wanted to be the cause of his downfall for a minute there." She's still angry about it, her entire face going just as violent of a shade of orange as how she's feeling. "But it is better to let his downfall be his own. Asshole."
